Linux is a meme that should have died years ago. We need a new, robust OS that always works.
>>

That's nothing compared to what happened with my install anon

>fresh install

Year of the Linux desktop am I right?

Is it a good or a bad time right now to buy a GTX 1070?

Bad.
Vega should cut prices like the RX 480 did to the 970
>>
Vega is going to be so good
Don't waste your money on a 1070
>>
Vega is going to suck and 1070 is a nice power/price compromise if you want a green gpu now

personal fuck ups/scare stories?

>think that reseting CMOS is like formatting a hard drive, that if you do it you can slightly increase performance and decrease chance of failure

>have cheap laptop
>buy bioshock infinite during sale
>game barely runs
>gpu temperature goes well over 100°c
>still want to play game
>go through several instances of laptop shutting down because want to play game
>after a while the gpu is finally fried

I basically killed a perfectly fine computer to play an incredibly shitty game. Replacing the GPU (if even possible) would've been a waste, given the age of the computer.
>>
>>58350610
I also learned in due time that laptops are furnaces while playing games. I also fucked up my mom's laptop before i had the desktop one of OP. I also funny enough paid 1 buck for Bio infinite and regret it for it being such a shitty game.

I actually haven't fucked up a lot

Before I actually got meself a computer (well my parents did) I've been subscribing to a dedicated magazine (for complete laymen) for over a year. It was '96 I think but the moment I got the computer on the desk I actually had a clue what to do next.

My biggest fuckup was a few years ago when I tried linux mint and went the most ignorant retarded way possible with it (complete opposite of what I did when I was young)

Ended up with unbootable Linux, unbootable Windows and fucked up HDD (windows installer couldn't even detect it). Luckily I managed to get it working, retrieve my stuff and set it up again.

I'll admit I had laid off the idea of installing Linux for well over a year after the incident.

Since then I managed to switch entirely.

It has potential, but no. Twitter is more "traditional".
>>
>>58350561
it can't compete in twitter's market because twitter doesn't have a market

Twitter's only success is infiltrating the legacy media. Something that Gab can never do.

How does /g/ back up their data/porn?
10 posts and 2 images submitted.
>>
>>58350503
I signed up for various SAAS websites that allow you to store files as a tangentially related thing to what the company does, usually intended for text files, pdfs or word documents related to other stuff that the company is supposed to help you create data about (and hopefully make money off of).

Eventually you find one where they forget to check file types, then rar your files into small enough pieces that you can put them on their servers.
>>
>>58350503
I only backup important irreplaceable data (photographs, documents, rare movies etc).
I use an external USB Hard Drive dedicated for backup.
My most important data is also periodically burned to DVDs and stored away..
>>
>>58350503
I dont.

I live dangerously. And honestly how much will it hurt to lose my documents, pirated music collection, programs, source codes i dont need anymore and photos?

The pain from loss is short, the pain from backing up your data is ethernal. Besides some of your data are online and saved passwords can be recovered if u remember the email one.

I didn't want to make a spoonfeed thread but i'm leaving overseas in 4 hours and I wanted to get this figured out quickly.

I want to swap my iPhone 7 32GB (10.0.3) with my mom's iPhone 7 128GB (10.1.1) without updating either phone and transferring all data from one phone to another.

Do I just make a backup of both phones and restore from her phone from my backup and vice versa? How do I make this work?

WTF Nvidia. I've had a GTX1060 for a couple months now and the fucker crashes chrome when running youtube videos. I thought the giant dog Nvidia usually had more dependable drivers. This shit can't even handle youtube!

He does not know what an exit node is. He does not understand what TOR does. There's a good chance this guy doesn't know Google from a hole in the ground.

Why not appoint someone who actually knows what's going on to handle our cyber security? I mean I can't help but feel kinda nervous with war mongerin' McCain talking about shit he doesn't understand.

Source for not understanding exit nodes and TOR is Cassandra Fairbanks on Twitter today, who live streamed questioning him. She may as well have spoken alien.

But McCain's spot on this senate committee has literally nothing to do with Trump, as this committee has been around for a while now.

Just got done doing a fresh install of windows after getting a new motherboard, CPU, and Ram and the temps have me a bit worried.

Should I be worried? On my last setup they never went above 40C most of the time.

I'm also downloading the windows update shits because it seems like there's a lot of functionality missing from my computer.
