So, now that the new i7 7700K is coming out, will we still be able to buy the older 6700K?
If so, will it cost less? By how much?
Also, I wanted an i7 6700K to run W7 on. is there anything I should be wary about?
Thanks in advance.
Caved in and ordered a 4K monitor.
I don't do a lot of gaming, but I still do some.
I know my 760 isn't powerful enough for pushing twice the pixels as my prior 2*1080p setup; should I go for a 1070 or stick with upgrading to a 1060?

cpu prices will not drop like they do with GPU's.
maybe cpu prices will drop a little.. but intel really own the market. they can set their own prices.

I'm sure we can all agree that using either a Mac or Windows OS is inexcusable, but I've found that most GNU/Linux masterrace types filter into one of two groups:
1. People who hate Mac, but hate Windows with an unbridled, all-consuming passion.
2. People who hate Windows, but hate Mac with an unbridled, all-consuming passion.
So /g/, which is worse?
Would you rather surf the Win10 botnet, or enjoy a /comfy/ Mac laptop without page-up, page-down and escape?
I use Linux and I don't hate either OS because I'm not a manchild that needs fanboyism to fulfill my sense of identity.
Though, Windows is more useful.
I used macs in elementary school and I realy liked the columned file browser, esp the part where one column has a big picture of a program's icon and the next column has files you would use with the program.
It's not like i hate them, I just hate _using_ them. Anyway, macOS seems to me the most viable option, as it's still an UNIX-like OS
How come Terry Davis is able to write an entire operating system using only 640x480
while /g/ claims you need 3x 27" monitors to be "productive"?
Linus Torvalds also uses a single monitor by the way.
>>58341408
Well, Terry wrote his OS in wide Ubuntu host.
It's not like he fully doesn't use HD-whatevr resolution.
How come OP is able to suck so much dick with only 1 bottle of lube while /lgbt/ claims you need 3x 5 gallon bottles to be "productive"?

Why are you not using one of the designated distros that RMS himself proposes yet /g/? Do you have freedom?
I only take distro advice from people who know how to install the distros they recommend

I do, but Parabola and Trisquel are the only ones still maintained. The others haven't been updated in years

Thank you for using an anime image!
can someone PLEASE explain me how this works?ranking = sorted(d.items(), key=lambda value: value[1], reverse=True)
I'm an absolute beginner. I know that the sorted() function can sort a simple list, and that in this example, a list of tuples is passed in a descending order based on the value of the dictionary. But how does it work? I fail to understand how lambda works.
thanks!

What's your favorite PC Case?
Sun Ultra 24
I've only ever had one (other than OEM cases before I learned how to build) because the ATX standard refuses to die so everything still fits
I might get a new case soon though simply because USB2.0 front panel is silly in 2017, especially when I'm switching stuff over to USB-C.

Can any kind /g/entoomen help me out?
I have a late 2006 model imac. The previous owner removed the hard drive and sata data cable. When he did that he also pulled off the black plastic piece that attaches to the prongs on the logic board. The bottom piece that's circled in >pic related
The prongs are still in tact (pic to follow). My question is, what's the best way to try to repair this. I have a 3d printer on the way, maybe try to print a new piece?
I have no idea how I would find a replacement one of these other than buying a whole new logic board that might have it still attached.
Could I simply strip the end of the sata cable and solder the ends direct?

This has almost nothing to do with the fact that it's an apple product. I need help with a sata connector
