alright, I need a little help figuring this shit out.

New ISP is going to be keeping me at a 22GB limit before throttling my connection speeds. I work from my PC and play a fuck ton of hours on an MMO. i'm going to burn through this bitch in a mere day.

considering i'll be stuck in a complex I can't really swap out to a better ISP directly. and I know I can possibly negotiate with my provider but that's going to be a fucking bitch with teeth.

what other options do I have when It comes to my network?

>>
An MMO isn't going to use that much bandwidth.
>>
>>59683538
I'll be sharing this shit with someone who will be using streaming services, in addition to YouTube current connection speed I'll have on arrival will be 50mbps.

i'm not just spending two hours a day on it i'm usually doing that most of the day when i'm either not working or taking care of the home.

averaging about 4-7 hours of constant connection to an MMO or other activity a day with almost 10 hours on the weekend. without trying to do the complexed math for updates and downloading other games / redownloading a broken one. how much data would I be burning through?
>>
>>59683524
Verizon? I hit the 22GB limit and they throtted me.

If 'certs' are the gateway to your job, you are either a high school dropout or a Pajeet.

All that time you spent memorizing multiple choice questions from braindumps could instead have gone toward something meaningful. Maybe in a couple of years you can regroup and have another go at life as a non-fuckup.

Best of luck, anon.

As someone who couldn't afford a degree program, certs helped me find a low paying but livable job to go back to school.

Please don't kill me /g/, I know not to do this, but in absolute desperation I ask anyway:

I have a Sears Communicator. It always worked great, then last week the upper-case letters started striking lower on the page than than the lower-case letters, so that they are very offset. Set for double-spacing, the capitol letters are about a half-space low.

It's electric and everything I can find online for such a problem is for non-electrics. Ergo, I came here. Pic related, it's that model.

can you take the lid off and post a picture of the insides? i would bet money that the uppercase characters are on a different frame than the lowercase ones, and that said frame has slipped out of alignment. probably a matter of loosening a screw or nut, pulling it back into place, and retightening.

why would you need 144hz monitor if you can't tell the difference between the framerate it drops to and the maximum reported refresh rate?
are you some sort of subhuman filth? or some sort of superman who doesn't care about nothing and wants the world to burn?

A family of operating system written by scientists, professional programmers and engineers, for general use and OS research purposes.

>What advantage does it have over arch/gentoo/et al.

Well, it depends on what you want, if you want a working desktop system out of the box (OOTB), the BSD (except TrueOS) is possibly not right for you unless you have the ideal configuration.

If you want a headless server, FreeBSD is a no brainer, it will run faster, use less memory and has a stable interface that is easy to manage. You won't need to hang around systemd mailing lists to make sure your configuration won't break.

If you want the most secure OS in existence, OpenBSD is the way to go.

Got a Linux specific app? It'll run on FreeBSD through the compatibility layer
Windows? WINE will usually do it.

The only use case where you absolutely must use Linux is currently CUDA, but that will hopefully change if we can convince nVidia to remove the coconut from its backside and support open source software.

p-play along s-sempai

Job is trying to screw me over.

I can prove my innocence by copying some files at work (if I get fired and take it to court), but copying the files can actually get me fired and sued at the spot.

Any way of copying them with a flash-drive with ought the I.T. guy finding me out? Can he even find out?

How would one go about this IF needed.

while I'm at it; any good places to buy sketchy tech that you can't get at Bestbuy?
Thanks

At least post the link dumbass. Then people can annoy the GTK devs some more and we can get actual enjoyment out of it.
>>
>>59681973
You'd think that instead of going all autist about pulling in features from the file manager into the file picker, they would just define some kind of interface and make it modular such that anyone can design a file picker and configure GTK to use it. That way they can keep their file picker shitty the way they like it and everyone who wants thumbnails can have them. Everyone wins.

So I have rarely had the money to really look into hardware, and thus I am kind of a pleb in that.

Now I got a raise AND a bonus from my company, enough to buy something fancy.
I consulted the /g/ resources and logicalincrements, from which I bought the exceptional (?) tier (it cost 1289€ in Germany, I had some upgrades to CPU and HDD so it came out at 1510€)

I knew I've treated myself to something nice here, I assembled the parts carefully for ~4-5 hours while leaning a lot about building PCs.

At the end, everything apparently ran quite well so I started my Rig and shoved a Win 7 Pro Install Disk in. I even have a valid fucking Code.

After 3 hours of Updates I now get a message that the system does not support my hardware, apparently due to processor model. Aside from the fucking Notice however the Rig runs everything quite fine?

There's also one issue with my old mouse, a TRUST Black 5-button mouse with a cable, which is like half the speed of what I am used to, the mouse wheel doesn't work and the forward/back buttons for browsing are also borked. The fuck is up with that, that usually just worked on Win7

the usual answer would be to install Gentoo, but I got this shit to precisely get into Video editing and I am used to Photoshop for 10 years now.

... just wanted to vent. Sorry.

I do like debian but I hate how it restricts me to use some software, for instance the one to make USB bootable devices.

Looking for a VPS service that is secure. I was looking at Amazon's AWS because they do allow data storage location selection and encryption with private key-keeping. Is AWS a meme and are there any better alternatives?

>>
>>59680791
AWS is expensive for on-demand service and scalability. It's most likely overkill for what you need.
