Please don't kill me /g/, I know not to do this, but in absolute desperation I ask anyway:
I have a Sears Communicator. It always worked great, then last week the upper-case letters started striking lower on the page than than the lower-case letters, so that they are very offset. Set for double-spacing, the capitol letters are about a half-space low.
It's electric and everything I can find online for such a problem is for non-electrics. Ergo, I came here. Pic related, it's that model.

You'll legitimately have to see a specialist about that, typewriter repair is a fucking art and a rare one these days.

can you take the lid off and post a picture of the insides? i would bet money that the uppercase characters are on a different frame than the lowercase ones, and that said frame has slipped out of alignment. probably a matter of loosening a screw or nut, pulling it back into place, and retightening.

Why not stop being a luddite and throw that shit in the garbage?

3 of 3 enough? I mean any guidance, any screw, any place to oil, I know the correction dust is everywhere but I could swear I took it out of places that could do this.

And because technology. Some people like Model-A Ford hotrods. They're slower than a Prius, but no one looks at them sideways.

Its sexy as fuck though
You should get this OP.

Oh, that's actually quite sick.

The same reason your mom didn't abort you, every piece of trash has value to someone.

well this doesn't look good. what does it control? try tweaking it back and forth; does either row of characters move?
Can you post a picture of what it looks like as it strikes the paper?

Very obviously out of alignment, neat though.
God damit gentlemen, I've been inspired here. I'm gonna leave this thread alone now, but I should note I am a garbage man. I will fight to realign this thing. I'm a quality assurance agent with a plastics and electronics company. I'm completely unqualified for the job but it's made me hang on to an 89 Caprice garbage car, my garbage microwave, my garbage, garbage TV, phone, &c., and I hope, my garbage typewriter. All my possessions are held together with paperclips and duct tape, and the fact that I will drive to work on Monday in my garbage wagon that I have already put a Popsicle stick in the float makes me feel ok. /g/ is a nice place thank you, and hope I don't spend too much money.

Godspeed anon, and good luck with the typewriter.
