You'd think that instead of going all autist about pulling in features from the file manager into the file picker, they would just define some kind of interface and make it modular such that anyone can design a file picker and configure GTK to use it. The devs keep track of issues largely by the number of people subscribed to receive email updates on the bug reports. The more of you who get in there the more likely this is to eventually be fixed.
