Linux or macOs, just generally never use Windows.

If on tight budget install gentoo
If not, get the new Mac Pro when it's out
>>
>>60887609
Thanks anon, I think more intensive backend development would demand a highly customizable linux distro, and less of windows/macOS

It becomes a matter of personal preference after that

>graphic design
How involved are you? For the majority of simple graphic design work, something like Krita or Inkscape on Linux will do fine. For advanced stuff, get a Mac or do hackintosh so you can use Photoshop.

Use Windows to play games and get BSODs/wannacrypt

How complicated it would be to take an FPGA and make it run bytecode for my VM? I have a lot of experience in programming but I haven't really touched any hardware stuff.
8 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
>>60886974
You can synthesize C to an FPGA, but I don't know how big your bytecode interpreter is.
Maybe LLVM also has a backend for synthesizing to your FPGA.
>>
>>60886974
That depends more on your VM complexity than anything else.

GC in hardware is a pain

I guess one could just move GC into high level language and VM would expose alloc/free primitives

Am I crazy or is this the best laptop you can get for the price?

Base
XPS 13

Processor
6th Generation Intel Core i7-6560U (4M Cache, up to 3.2 GHz)

Operating System
Windows 10 Home 64bit English

Memory
16GB LPDDR3-1866MHz

Hard Drive
512GB PCIe Solid State Drive

Video Card
Intel® Iris™ Graphics 540

Display
13.3” QHD+ (3200 x 1800) InfinityEdge touch display

All comes out at $1214 at the dell page using the discount.
Similar speced laptops with kaby lake cost like $1500-1600 with 1080p screens like the current xps or the thinkpad x1 carbon.

>>
Sounds like a good price. I'm looking for a 13 inch laptop at the moment, sadly there are no pre gen 7's on the UK dell site and no options for 16GB.
>>
seriously? what kind of dollars are those? canadians?

anyway, why do people get fucking catfished by large RAM or large SSD?

and who the fuck needs QHD on 13" when it will eats your battery 20% faster?

these notebooks are about portability..

I dont think its same awesome deal at all

also compare it against carbon x1 4th gen not 5th gen.

All you fools, arguing over petty languages like C++, C, Java, Python and whatever don't know what a true language is.

Scratch is the language of the future. Made for good video games.

>>Easy
All programming languages are easy
>>Made for Video Games
You can use libraries in any language
>>Drag and drop blocks
Not a good thing for most situations
>>Shareable instantly
Doesn't matter
>>No need to spend hours on a compiler
Most people who write C or C++ does not write their own compiler.
This is an idiotic thing to say.
