Is sparkling water the best alternative to sugary sodas for those who have cravings for fizzy drinks?
I always keep soda water in my fridge. Helps me not drink a shit ton of soda.
also I been getting
> sparkling mineral water with a twist of lime
Like 3cals per 250ml
i dont see any problem with sparkling water. Especially the non sweetened kind, its basically lemon water with carbonation
I got this stuff recently, not bad desu.

>Massive, broad shoulders are indicated by a scapular breadth that is about 8% larger than their modern human contemporaries. (Neanderthals and anatomically modern humans did live side by side for several millennia.)
>Muscle attachments for the pecs were enormous, up to twice the size of today’s average.
>Neanderthals had shorter, wider humeri (upper arms), which combined with the shoulders, suggests substantial rotator cuff muscularity. And, get this; the bones in their forearms were actually bowed from muscles that must have powered a grip that could crush stone.
>All of this upper body musculature was anchored on a solid foundation of massive quads that specialized in explosive power and side-to-side movement.

Why even bother lifting when you will NEVER be a neanderthal?

What was your longest dry spell /fit/? Let's share some stories.
>5 years and counting
>18 years
(But around 2 months after i lost my virginity)
>>41091418
About 2 years rn, on the heels of a long relationship. I haven't been looking.
Previously auschwitz mode, bulking as I progress toward the 'beginner' 1RMs for Stronglifts. Will probably cut after to get back down in body fat %.
Then I think I'm going to get back into the game.

85% sure I contracted the herps. Trouble is can't have it tested until i have a sore presenting. Anyone else dealing with this shit or other infections?
Found out I had herpes about a year ago. Had know about the possibility for 6 months before that. Same deal, had to wait for an outbreak to confirm. Only had three outbreaks so far. All small and went away quickly.
My gf got an STD from rubbing up against gym benches. Should she change gyms?

How often can I work out legs?
bump! I would like to know the answer to this question
>>41102835
It varies by individual and how many sets / reps you do in a given session.
Generally for hypertrophy purposes 15-30 sets per week. Obviously heavier sets will skew this number lower and vis versa

Is it acceptable to skip a day if I'm sick?
It's just a cold, but I've never had one this bad. I've got a headache and I feel so weak. Not sure if I could even do a set of pushups. I just started dieting and exercising too, so I really don't want to.
Late starter thread.
I see a lot of people here who started lifting in their late teens early 20s, I'm 29 and feeling like I'm late to the party, anybody else? How about people who started in their 30s 40s etc
Any advice?
Pop or slash?
Youre going to live past 70. Starting 10 years late is 40 years enough
Read the sticky
SS 3 days HIIT 3 other days.
Oveeweight beginner who has cleaned up his diet and wants to hit the gym. Would this be any good?
Might be better to start with 1 month of just SS and maybe some light cardio. You can add HIIT later. It's better to not overdo it early on. You'll be sore as fuck anyway from just SS. The last thing you want is becoming discouraged by starting out too hard.
>>41101913
That's probably the best advice you'll get.
>>41101868
Heavy lifting and HIIT combined isn't a good idea m8, you'll be exhausted as fuck and you'll constantly underperform - you won't be making as much strength gains as you should be, and you will be getting tired as fuck during HIIT training. You'll also be tired literally all the fucking time.
Combine SS with light cardio, then at some point when you feel you've made good strength gains, you can switch to HIIT with the occasional light cardio.
The light cardio should always be there in my opinion.
So is Conor-mode achievable natty? What BF% is this? I reckon around 9-10%.
What do you think his lifts are /fit/?
>>41101824
The amount of muscle mass he has is probably attainable for people with above average genetics, though most still won't look as good as him just due to his insertions/proportions.
He's doing a less traditional 4 day bro split. You'll have to check his channel out for the specifics.
>>41101844
I've seen a couple training vids. Doesn't he do a Push/Pull, like PPxPPxx? I'm soon stalling on my beginner 3x a week program, probably switching to a PP or PPL.
>>41101844
Actually I'm going to change my statement, that mass is definitely attainable natty. If he got it natty is a whole nother story.
>320 squat
>340 deadlift
Why is my deadlift so shit? Not form, had it checked on numerous occasions.
>>41101690
Lean back to load posterior chain, push through heels and begin the pull at the same time.
>>41101718
This

>are you a Manlet?
That normally explains a squat max that nearly outdoes or is better than a deadlift max
>>41101690
I don't see anything wrong with it the back is one of the main foundations to the squat why wouldnt you want your DL pr to be greater than your squat
>my parents unironically fall for these types of images
my dad showed me a video of some jacked euro gai lifting cement outside of his barn and told me to git gud and to focus on training harder rather than eating so much, i told him that he was on steroids and both my dad and mom immediately laughed and told me that i need to work harder and that one of their friends looked like the euro gai in the video and he "never used steroids"
why do people fall for the hard work meme? how do i redpill my parents on steroids /fit/?
>>41101600
>requiring parents approval
You're not going to make it
>>41101600
Honestly, just ignore them.
Most people don't know shit about how the average person responds to training because the last time they physically exerted themselves was high school. College if they were really active. Their sum total interaction with physical activity is watching a game once a week, maybe. But that's only part of the problem.
They've tricked themselves into thinking that the only thing separating themselves from peak athletic performance is 'hard work.' Even though if they actually stopped to consider all the variables, they'd probably realise that's nonsense (who HASN'T busted their ass to make a team or beat someone at something at some point only for the effort to be completely wasted?)
'Hard work' is a psychological crutch for all kinds of people. It's not a meme because people are dumb, it's a meme because it allows them to never confront their own shortcomings and relative ability, accept it, and develop themselves.
It's not just sport - you see in any field that requires the application of talent and effort. Most people are simply mediocre at most things. Which would be fine - because a mediocre person with energy beats a talented person without it every time - if most people weren't also completely bone idle.
If someone who's achieved nothing talks to you about hard work, stop for a moment to pity them, then move on. They're narcissus staring at their own reflection in a pond. Obsessed with something they'll never have, slowly wasting away.
Your parents are probably right. Not everyone who looks better than you is on steroids. It shows your weak mindset and proves that you will never make it.
Hey /fit/,
I'm starting SS (and just fitness in gerneral) and I wanted to work towards doing real chin ups as well. I was wondering if I should do then every workout after finishing with my SS routine
>Day A: Squat, Bench, Deadlift, Chin Ups Negatives
>Day B: Squat, Press, Deadlift, Chin Ups Negatives
or if I should allow some rest on them and do something else on day B
>Day A: Squat, Bench, Deadlift, Chin Ups Negatives
>Day B: Squat, Press, Deadlift, Push Ups/Dips
or should I just wait until phase 2 of SS before I add chin up practice?
pull ups every workout SS is lacking upper body work anyways
if you wanna do some push ups tho on your off days nothing wrong with that
>>41101549
How many push-ups should i do on off days if i don't want them to detract from my press numbers. What percent of working to failure
>>41101525
just follow the damn program man!
