Is this an alright buy to start out whittling?

Are gloves/finger guards necessary if I want to keep my fingers? In which case, which properties should the gloves have? I'm warned that most kevlar/leather gloves are too bulky to use for whittling.

I particularly need input about the knife, I'm totally unfamiliar with the brand, anyone got some experience with it?

other than that, just general whittling thread

Wood from a hardware store. Any wood will do, but start with a softer wood for practice. Cut workable chunks with a saw.

I don't really come here so I don't know if this is the place to ask. I figure it's natural enough to not really be called a "weapon" per se.

I don't care if it comes out crude or anything, but what would be the tools necessary for taking a general and large hunk of wood and make it look like pic related? I imagine with luck alone you could find everything above the grip.

As for experience, I'm somewhere below novice.

Ok so i have in front of me a

it is in the black screen status and as a last effort i will try to re-do the bios in case of corruption.

My question is this, im told this processor is good and performs well for mobile CPU's
Is there a way to salvage the Cpu and GPU if the motherboard is dead?
if so to what or any links about it?

The processor will be socketed, and if you had the ability to remove the GPU, that would mean you had the ability to reattach it and fix the laptop.

Also, this has gotta be a troll. The P920 is six years old, and the lowest-performing of the entire family. It's outperformed by modern cellphones.

these are pretty stupid. to cool something, you either blow cool air onto it or suck hot air away from it. you have it so the air moves parallel to the hot surface so as to cause virtually no change in temperature.

I've had this zippo lighter for quite a while now and I only recently refilled it after it was lying in my closet for almost two years now. The thing is the lighter doesn't work even though I changed the flint and the wick. I even used the meme fuel as refill. It sparks but the wick doesn't light up. However if I use a match to light the wick up, it works perfectly. Does anyone here have any experience with this sort of thing? Any help is appreciated.

I dont understand the question anon.
you need a new primer pump? or you need to adapt your current fuel lines to fit this priming pump?

is it just a diesel priming pump? you can use literally anything for that anon. from any model. what are you trying to do? you want to fit this somewhere else on the truck, blank where it would mount usually and run a hose between the two points? you would need to ask a mechanic to make you up two blanking plates easy enough job or make ityourself by cutting out some steel and filing the rough edges, drill a hole, fit a panel mount barb, apply nitrile gasket you make yourself, bolt it all down.

so you want that specific piece of pipe?
a fuel mechanic/diesel mechanic/brake shop can make one up for you. it's called a flared union. you've left the olive on the end of the pipe. this needs to be replaced. you can reuse the fittings you have just get a new compression olive.

Get a small metal clamp (you can get some tiny G-clamps or you can go with something like picture related), get some thin wire, a couple mm thick, thin enough to bend by hand, thick enough to hold up the weight of the thermometer, wrap one end of the wire around the clamp, you can be fancy and solder/weld it on or you could just wrap it around a few times, on the other end make a small loop, big enough for the metal part of the thermometer to go through but small enough so the plastic body doesn't. bam done. You can easily adjust the height by bending the wire in whatever direction you need, all the materials are cheap and easily replaceable so if they corrode from heat/whatever you're cooking you can replace them, is hight adjustable for different pots/levels of ingredients in the pot.

to make it adjustable i would probably try some kind of rod with grub screws setup, like in pick related, this method is nice for ease of use while still keeping stability. then you just need a form of clamp either end.

not sure if this is what you are looking for advice wise but hope it helps for ideas.

Sup /diy/,
I'm planning of getting myself a long board, but there are rather expensive, so I prefer to build the deck myself and just buy trucks and wheels. Anyway, every tutorial I read recommends 2-3 layers of 1/4 inch plywood (that's like 6mm/layer). Could I just one layer of 0.6inches (15mm)? Or is it done with layers to give it some flexibility? I'd prefer using that single layer of 15mm plywood
7 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
>>985066
you can build a long board with some resin. and fiberglass, and a single sheet of construction grade shit-tastic plywood. its kinda flexy. but it works? LOL
>>
>>985066
As long as the plies are similar thickness, and you have the same number of them, you should be good I think. A 1/4 board probably has three plies in it, so as long as your larger board has 9 or whatever it'd be similar. But just note that thinner plywood will probably be higher quality, as the inner plies of thick plywood may have knots/cracks/imperfections.

It's kind of silly though, because a 1/4 board (from which you could easily cut three rectangles and glue them together) is going to be much cheaper than a thicker sheet. Might as well just do it right in my opinion.

I agree with the other anon though, if I was doing it, I would use fiberglass. Just because it'd be way more fun to make and stronger in the end.

>>

how quick does it need to hold

I have had good luck with one minute loctite
it really does hold in just one minute

the main thing is keeping everything clamped while the glue cures
>>
>>984964
well i don't have any clamp that fit where its need to glue but i added a weight to press on it.

I would like to build a small fluid bed for powder coating. The purpose is for quick and efficient but thorough coating of cast lead bullets (this removes the need for a wax-based lubricant and allows for cleaning feeding through bullet collators and also less mess in suppressors).

My current method to apply this coating is via a vibratory tumbler, which is totally satisfactory, but I just want to try something different. The perfect setup would allow me to drop a bunch of bullets on a mesh tray made out of something like hardware cloth, heat it up slightly, dunk it, and pull out some perfectly coated bullets.

I am hoping somebody here has used an industrial sized fluid bed machine and can weigh in with their observations.

Total coating depth required will be under 2 inches.

I am familiar with the basic principles of a fluid bed setup, and there really isn't a lot more to one than in the picture shown (like always, the devil is in the details and implementation of course).

My questions are:

1) Has anyone determined a durable but effective membrane to use for this? I am considering an air filter cut to fit my apparatus but people have used everything from paper towels to brown paper bags in smaller setups for fishing lures. Average size of powder coat particles is going to run from 25-50 microns.

2) How many "bubblers" will I need for, say, a 12x12 inch bed? You can note in the diagram where the air is released in the device. Do industrial PC fluid bed tanks have many "ports"? I cannot find many/any good pictures, and almost any industrial tank is made to deal with far greater "depths". Is there an effective PSI for a fluid bed in general? Is more pressure better (until it flies out of the machine)? When using an electrostatic powder coat gun I always find a psi in the low teens to be the most effective.

I think I have this planned in my head better than I articulated, but I am just hoping someone else has tried to build one of these for hobby work.

Thank you. I have a few other pictures just in case somebody is interested, I suppose it is a pretty DIY topic.

The ones previously pictured were applied with a vibratory tumbler filled with BBs.

This one is was applied with an electrostatic gun, which gives a very smooth feeling coat, but wastes a lot of overspray compared to tumbling, and takes much, much, much more time.

The bottom is shiny because there is an aluminum gas check attached to the base.
