How would one go on about planting real-ass grass on one's balcony?
The surface is about 15m^2.
That's astro-turf.
>>987931
I know. Couldn't find a proper picture. Artificial turf is shot tho.
>>987930
You don't, dirt is heavy, balconies can't hold up unlimited weight. Don't ruin your building.
Currently live in a shitty apartment with my mom. I recently got hired and am gonna make enough money to move out. However, I don't want my mom living in the same shit apartment. Problem is, anything with higher rent is going to be an issue for her. So I have two options.
A. Find her a better place and help pay the rent
B. Renovate the shit out of our current apartment.
I like option B more considering she likes the neighborhood a lot, and I wouldn't have to help out with the rent as much. My only concern is that the building is old, and maintained by a super who doesn't want to to jack shit. He just comes around to do emergency patch work whenever it's needed, and even then, he does the bare minimum shit job. I don't know if its worth renovating the apartment if the building is pretty bad. Flooring is uneven and filled with gaps between floorboards. Gaps between floor and molding. Walls cracking. Shitty bathtub. Plumbing under sink is missing a chunk of a wall. Stove/fridge would need to be replaced. Bathroom tiling is awful. Gaps between heating pipes and ceilings/floors. Anyway, is it possible to renovate this piece of shit in a way that everything doesn't fall apart when it's finished, and how much would a job like this cost?
Have you tried getting a building inspector to look at the place? Maybe if some code violations are found you can pressure your slumlord into hiring a contractor to fix the place properly.
Illegal to renovate a rental
My girlfriend has a cat who likes to scratch wooden door frames. Getting rid of the cat is sort of not an option.
What's the thick material that sticks onto surfaces and can be removed later? It's like heavy wallpaper. A lot of people who get cabinets with old shitty interiors will layer the insides of the drawers with it, etc. I'm thinking of just covering all the doorframes with it, then removing it before we move and sanding off what few scratches are left on the wood. But I can't remember what it's CALLED.
Pic related, but not my door frame.
There's Vinyl wrap, but not sure if its an actual 'solution', basically the furry little cunt needs a scratching post.
>>987585
If you get it a proper scratching post, it'll prefer that over this shit.
Assuming its not doing it just doing it because it knows it pisses you off.

>Assuming its not doing it just doing it because it knows it pisses you off.
Yeah... the post helps, but doesn't seem to fix the problem.
I need to build a microbiological incubator, but I am finding some troubles that I ask you guys for help.
I live in a fairly hot place, so I need a heating AND a cooling system on this incubator, and so far, my best idea was peltier modules for both, being controlled separately by two thermostats (as I am not very versated in electronic and programming, I couldn't think of a way of one controlling both).
How would you guys do it? The colling and heating part as well as the temperature controller. I need some sugestions.
Incandescent light bulbs are not an option because when exposed to light, bacteria and fungus can have weird growing patterns.
>>987575
hi mushroom bro. yes a 50w peltier will give you a good couple of degree range for incubating agar plates. you will need air exchange though. what sort of max temperatures do you get inside your house?
>>987575
Ideally what you do is site your chamber in a room that is already environmentally controlled so that there is very little fluctuation. Air conditioning will typically aim for a set temperature and heat or cool as necessary. If you set the room a little colder than you need it will give you headroom to add heat which is much easier than removing heat.
Insulation is important, it acts as a low pass filter for heat, if you have enough insulation your chamber will sit at the average temperature of outside.
Most heat sources produce energy in other forms, typically light for electric or burners but you can shield the light with metal which will reflect or absorb(paint it black) the light and emit it as heat.
>>987578
I never worked with them, to be honest. In fact, I plan to make a kind of a big incubator, so I can frutificate mushrooms inside too, besides the agar plates (just a idea so far). Here it can easily reach 36°C on a hot summers day. Maybe 3 to 4 peltiers would do the work.
>>987581
Ideally, I agree with you. But I don't have any kind of environmentally controlled room, sadly. The insulation part I think I got covered, but we'll see in the future. The light shield is a great idea. Thank you.
Oh, and I just found I can in fact control both sources with one controller. I just have to buy the right one.
What the cheapest conceivable way to become a homeowner in the Pacific Northwest? I'm assuming it would be buy land in the middle of nowhere and build your own minimum viable house, correct? How cheap can you go?
>I'm assuming it would be buy land in the middle of nowhere and build your own minimum viable house, correct?
no. I have no idea why you'd think that, it's retarded.
>>987355
Then how would you do it?
>>987357
Buy a shit house on a shit streey
Hoping for the weather to improve, but have gotten some decent stuff:
printer that still had ink in it, $2
monitor, $1
bunch of belts, $0.25 each
bunch of CDs, $0.25 each
hiking boots, $1
some people are nuts when it comes to what they think their stuff is worth....someone had a medium size bike, might have been a kid's one, for $125...noooooot gonna happen
>>986884
>some people are nuts when it comes to what they think their stuff is worth....someone had a medium size bike, might have been a kid's one, for $125...noooooot gonna happen
Craigslist is the worst about that.
>Rusted out shell of 40's car with no engine, tranny, or anything else
>3000 no lowballers
>>986886
>I told ya last week that I won't take $2500...it's $3000 FIRM...I know what I got...
>>986884
$125 is cheap if it's a good bike. But I know what you mean, some people expect that for rusted out old shitbox bikes I wouldn't drag home for free on trash night.
I understand the basics here but im not sure how this was pleated? any tips?
>>986632
Probably with dark magic, I mean have you seen their hats?
Damn it my craft boner needs to go away
Handy women are fucking attractive, they are useful for stuff other than popping out kids
I have alot of pallets standing around and was wondering what to do with them. Being a farmer i thought about mounting some wheels on them and make movable fences, or does /diy/ have a better idea?
>>986255
They make good chicken trackers.
>>986256
I mainly have cows and broilers but thats still a good idea for my brother`s farm.
>>986255
Burn them.
Hello,
do You have by any chance a manual on how to make one of these figurines?
http://www.brothers-brick.com/tag/warhammer/
http://www.moc-pages.com/folder.php/6912
I'd love to make stompa, or a dreadnought or a killa can,but I can't find any manual on the internet on how to make them (And I'd love to make one for myself to stand on a bookshelf)
If you have, could please share? ;)
Best regards,
Dynio
Why would someone have a manual to someone else's MOC? Perhaps ask the person who made it.
Besides, the fun of LEGO is figuring it out yourself.
On one hand You are Right. On the other one I don' have that much pieces to try with. Having a manual would Tell me which pieces to buy on the Internet. Most of my pieces are from castle/pirate sets. Not that good to work with 40k :|

Better ask over there
So does anyone else /diy/ their drinks.
good poor of soco
can o' peaches
maple syrup
brown sugar
white sugar
couple handfuls of ice
splash of milk
blend till smooth
>>985963
>/diy/ their own drinks
You mean make any alcoholic drink? What is there to do it yourself? You didn't grow the peaches or cultivate the sugar. You didn't brew the booze.
Pointless thread.
>>985964
the do it yourself part is using that thing inside your skull to concoct an original mix of ingredients that one would not normally be able to order at a bar without specifying what independent ingredients to put in it, if you want your drink to taste better then grow the peaches/sugarcane/etc/etc
Okay, so I have a rescue guitar from the 80's that actually sounds really good with fuzz or high gain, and the novelty of the instrument is that it has a speaker built in. After replacing all the sub-par components, including the speaker, I find that the only thing left to address was the fact that the 9volt battery inside is drained super quickly.
I have some soldering experience when it comes to electronics, but I am not an expert by any means. I was hoping that someone here might have an idea for some way to negate the use of a 9volt, either with an alternative (less expensive) battery set up or preferably by stepping down the voltage of a 12v transformer (however one might manage to do that). At first I thought USB stepped up to 9v might be a solution but after some research, that seems to be a pain in the ass to efficiently accomplish without just buying a converter. Any ideas?
>>985468
You might not need all 9V to begin with; make sure there's not a vintage linear voltage regulator inline as well.
step up would require only a buck-boost converter, depending on the power draw this might be a single chip solution or you might have to make one. They are not as complex or hard to put together as you might think.
If you really want the nigger-rigged less expensive setup, use 6x AAs (or AAAs). 9V batteries are just 6x AAAAs in a hard case anyway (if you don't believe me, take one apart with pliers)
>>985480
sorry forgot the image
Just get another 9v battery terminal and wire it to a wall wart. Just make sure you wire the terminal you're adding "backwards" so the DC comes in with proper polarity.
What can I do to that phone? (Doesn't work anymore)
>>983795
How the fuck did you manage to break a Lumia that badly? Did you run it over with a school bus?
you can put it in the ewaste
>>983801
Car Crash, and I was with the Phone in the Hand!
Btw... He still working after that.
But, one day, he suddenly stoped.
So, I want to prank a friend, and I would like to know how to glue a pvc dildo to the hood of a car.
Would hot glue work, or would I have to do some dildo to a wood spacer to the car kind of thing?
Obviously I don't want to sand and prime the surface, and I'd prefer the bond to be able to be broken without damage. If this isn't possible, I'll find some other way to be a dick to him. Probably by leaving a box full of dildos in his trunk or something.
Why not cut your own dick off and hot melt it to their hood?
Don't fuck with other people's cars.
If you must, don't glue shit or apply any sorts of adhesives.
Get one of these suction-cup dildos instead:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d6oso_GeEx0
>>982778
You'll probably want to drill a few holes in the hood first to give the glue a space to adhere to and lock itself in.
Also look into life insurance, because if someone glued a dildo yo the hood of my car I would fucking kill them.
What is the cheapest way to block sun out of a room?
I started a new job working nights and it's pretty hard to sleep with any light in my bedroom.
I don't think blackout curtains will keep out enough light
Lawn bags - $1.60 for a pack of 5
Duct tape - $4 a roll
-Double up curtains
-tape cardboard over windows
Next time ask in the QTDDTOT
>>981384
If keeping heat out is no concern, pic related might be enough.
Was painting for about 4 hours yesterday in quite a poorly ventilated space
Today I have a fucking terrible headache. How long should I expect this to last, and how can I get rid of it sooner?
>>987995
get drunk
Enjoy your brain damage, da fuck were you thinking?
Drink water, relax, if it continues consult with your doctor and please don't post your shit questions in d.i.y
