Anyone have experience with concrete countertops?
Any thoughts on if any of the systems out there (fiber additives, fiberglass mesh, clips, etc.) are worth the extra cost? I've looked at the Zcrete system, but it seems a bit pricey for what it is.

I have made two attempts at concrete counter tops. I made forms outside the house, in the garage, using a template.
The first attempt was a massive failure.
The second wasn't bad, but I should have vibrated instead of just rodding the material for consolidation...
I will post a couple pics if I can find them.

The form for the first attempt.
I used scraps from the rest of my remodel.
I was just over my buddy's house and I heard some loud gargling noises coming from the basement when his laundry was draining. I went down and looked and I realized it was because the drain coming down gl from his double basin sink was undersized. It was this type of drain, which then stepped down to basically a garden hose. I'm going to change it for him, but my question is, will upgrading to a full 1 1/2 drain assembly alone be enough, or should I also change the drain style to a straight tube down with the second basin leading into the down tube? The water was coming up into the second basin because the inflow was greater than what the garden hose tube could handle.

Just upgrading the diameter should be enough, unless it's a really high flow washer. Don't forget the P-trap (there isn't one in your pic)

So I want to sculpt, mold and cast a thing. I don't know much real life about the subject and I don't want to fuck up $200 worth of stuffs.
So here's the plan: sculpt the thing with sulfur free oil/wax clay, one piece mold in platinum cure silicone, cast in platinum cure.
First, that's a thing you can do with these products, right?
Second, the mold is going to be deep, but not high detail. How the fuck do I get the clay out of the mold?
Third, I don't have a degasser, what do?

Smooth on products have a line of silicone that works pretty well without degassing so long as the item you're making doesn't have any large undercuts.
However, casting silicone in a silicone mold runs the risk of the two bonding together.
I would suggest male sculpt, mold in one of Smooth on's rubbers, then cast in silicone. Or at the very least, research what sort of release agent to use in silicone to silicone casts. Good luck!

I have a little question for you. I mainly use my ps4 for netflix/youtube, and it's draining my battery like hell. I can just turn off the controller in the menu, but it's a 15sec operation, and it pauses everything while I am doing it.
So I want to add some kind of switch, from the battery, to manually turn off the controller.
The thing is, I don't know what kind of switch/button I should use. Any recommendation?

Hey guys, I don't have any local places that make purpose made refractory cement, and there aren't any home and garden shops that have fire clay or anything like that to mix a proper refractory cement myself (my town has a Lowes, and that's it.)
That said, for a home-made aluminum foundry, would Portland Cement be acceptable?
I do know that if I were to use it, absolutely minimum water to prevent steam issues and explosions, but would it work at all? (Pic unrelated)

I did a 40 minute AC tune up yesterday cleaned airhandler of dust changed filter inspected blower wheel and motor
went outside cleaned condenser of dust and mulch cleaned coil checked all electrical connections. Went inside and the lady said I did more than anyone has ever done on her AC unit.
How do these people still have jobs?

Most probably installation for the first is done by the noobs. Bcoz its easier.
When it comes to servicing. They just remove the dust by chemical wash. Check capacitor, refill the gas.

Nigga it only needs more because it's got a leak.
Service should be clean indoor and outdoor. Check pressures and supply air temps. Check electrical.
Adding gas is a bandaid fix and in australia at least illegal with out fixing the leak

How good are 'fuel bricks' made of paper and various organic waste, compared to just (buying and) burning wood logs?
Waste paper, grass clippings and leaves are fairly easy to come by, so I'm entertaining the idea of producing my own bricks.
I'm wondering if the effort put into making them is worth it, or if they're just a meme I shouldn't fall for.
Does /diy/ approve of them?
Please share your experiences. Thanks.
Just a couple questions that come to mind after doing some research:
>What is the best ratio of paper vs other ingredients? (I suppose mainly the cellulose in paper is what keeps the whole thing together)
>Do you put holes into them? How many and how? (donut shaped ones made in DVD case molds seem like a fun experiment for beginners)
>How important is pressing them? (in terms of increasing their efficiency as fuel source for the extra labor)
>Your preferred drying method? How long does it usually take?
>Would you personally avoid using colored paper because of its toxicity?
>What additional household/garden waste do you put into them?
Anything else to consider?
