/g/entleman here

tl;dr: how would you ensure that open source AI is the first to reach majority of people?

We can probably agree that general-purpose AI will play big role in the future of humanity.
Many programs/machines already use special-purpose AI, for example path finding in games or street sign detection used in self-driving cars.
But one AI that can be used for (almost) anything is a gold mine.

And I can see two groups that could achieve this:
Open source community makes AI that is free, modular and transparent (everyone can look at the code that makes it work). This almost certainly ensures that there is no shady shit inside it.
or
Big corporation(s) make AI that is surely appealing to majorities, but it's main purpose isn't to benefit humanity but instead to make corporation more money, and is therefore biased and does not work objectively.

But what I fear is that it will be combination of those things:
Open source community will try and make good free modular AI with good intentions in mind, and then some corporation will say "K, thanks for doing all the hard work, now we will take what you made, put evil-jew-bias module inside it, and all the money that we would have used for development will now go into advertising this new product"
And then world would be doomed because AI would serve corporation instead of benefiting humanity.

My question to /biz/ is:
How would you make sure that AI that reaches majority of people is the AI with good intentions and is made to benefit human life?

Something similar happened when Android got in hands of big corporation and was instantly used as platform that supports corporate money-making services.
Of course it isn't that bad, and choice of mobile doesn't affect your life as much as general-purpose AI would.

now feel free to tell me that I'm delusional and that should install gentoo

AI is a meme perpetuated by sperglords who want to bang their computers. That being said, there will be robots, but they will only be able to do what they are told to do.

Here's an intern cringe story that I've heard:

>Goldman Sachs
>At a desk, there was an Associate, Managing Director (old dude), and a summer intern (who just gets to watch the MD work)
>MD types like a fucking grandpa, one finger at a time
>MD misses comma
>Intern notices, and like a smarmy fuck, says to the MD: "I think you forgot a comma"
>The MD looks back and stares him down
>The Associate stifles back laughter
>MD: "And I think you need to get the fuck out."
>He was dead serious
>That intern did not get a full-time offer

More?

Top kek, would've done the same.

Probably the same. Millennials are ADD, narcissistic idiots. Never disrespect your elders. I kiss ass at my internship.

I would say just investment in very low-risk funds. I would say you can nab between 4-7% annually at least, depending on where you put it. LendingClub apparently is great.

Unless you have some other business venture in mind or a more lucrative way to guarantee returns (like betting on Bernie), that's you wisest move.

If you are in Europe then look at the Lendingclub alternatives. Mintos and Twino seems to be okay.

Nature vs Nurture.
If you're born in trailer-park-white-trash-ville, your credit score is going to be laughable. Especially in comparison to someone born in a financially intelligent family.
Yeah it depends on individuals, one could always wake up and read a book out two on money, learn the ways of the light, but generally we can assume it to be true that where and how and by whom you were raised affects your financial intelligencw.

Overlay this with median ACT/SAT scores from outgoing high school seniors and you'll most likely see some correlation.

I disagree that poor people are to blame for Wall St speculation

Eh, banks were giving loans to poor people knowing that they'd never get that one bank for a few years prior to that collapse.

Bad politics caused the crash and left the banks to blame more than anything.

that's actually a smart business idea.

create a clearly controversial dating platform, fill it with bots and automated fake accounts so it appears populated (obv 80% of those accounts are believably sexy females), do minimal promotion and marketing, once controversy reaches you, the site will explode in popularity. controversy can also be stirred by you, simply by tipping off social justice warrior subreddits and maybe smaller news blogs and stuff, then watch the outburst snowball, and your traffic blow up.

A lot of classes at major universities are so large (60-250 students) that many of the teachers don't even bother with attendance.

Is it possible to just show up to a university (that you do not go to) and attend a class (that you are not enrolled in) and just hang out for the lectures and actually learn the material? I know some classes have online material that you need to be enrolled in to have access to (powerpoints, exams, etc) but if you just stuck around the lecture to solely learn the subject matter (and maybe even take an exam or two as a guest test taker) throughout the entire semester would this be akin to free college?

What are the consequences if you're caught doing this? It would be difficult to unless you show up on an exam day and they ask for a student ID and see your not enrolled but if that is how exams are you could just avoid exams and come to lectures only.

Is it possible to get jail time for this?

Thoughts guys?

Has anyone actually tried this with success? Please do tell.

Btw I'm not a NEET, just a recent college grad of a STEM major who wouldn't mind "crashing" a couple business and finance courses during my gap year without actually paying for them.

When I went to college for IT, the Business school was in the next building over from a couple of my classes and I sat in on a couple of economics classes. I was at a small Community College, tho, and a few students eventually asked me who I was - they thought I was there to evaluate the prof or something. After I told them I was just sitting in to learn, the prof came to me and said I could stay if I just kept in the background and didn't let everyone know (apparently the college views someone sitting in class without paying for it as a loss and doesn't like professors allowing it)
