Sup /biz/. Long story short my dad is dying of terminal brain cancer in 6months. He has never really been there gor me and has pretty much nothing at all of value to pass on to me. Here's my question. If i were to open some credit cards in his name, in no way associate myself with the accounts, and use them to buy a bunch of shit for myself. What happens to the debt when he dies? Im 22 in cali if that matters. Have never really dealt with any sort of credit so i literally have no idea how it works .
the stuff gets repossessed and the accounts are closed on account that he is dead
>>1027743
How do they go about reposessing it if its all with me a few hundred miles away and i have no real connection to him? Or if i just sell it all for cash? Like i said he has literally nothing of value for them to take
>>1027746
serial numbers, also thats fraud
What happened?
>>1027602
>His body wasn't Reggie.
>>1027602
It's because they took a 3 month lunch break, can't you read a simple graph?
>>1027602
What do you mean "what happened"? Minus one 2007 spike, Nintendo stock has hardly moved for 17 years.
I work for a gift card re-seller. They buy unwanted cards for less than what they are worth, and sell them for still less than what they are worth but for more than they bought them for. My company gets a lot of its cards from a few people who sell large bulk orders of cards. Like 600 Walmart cards, all $25.
I have been trying to figure out where the hell the people who sell these large bulk orders to my company get their cards from. Obviously these people are making a profit from it, but where could they get these cards for lower price than the already heavily discounted rate that they sell them to my company for? Could it be some sort of money laundering operation?
>>1027565
Probably stolen, or in some way related to it.
That's what I imagine most people do with bitcoin, use it to buy giftcards(there is multiple sites like this) which are then easy to convert to fiat dosh.
>be Walmart employee
>use your 15% discount on a gift card
>sell hundreds to OPs company
>????
>profit
Really I doubt they get their discount when buying a gift card. If they do that would be a smart operation though.
Also I like the idea for the company too I didn't know they had this. I've had hundreds of dollars in gift cards expire on me in my life.
https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/the-fix/wp/2016/01/05/president-obamas-amazingly-emotional-speech-on-gun-control-annotated/
>Number four, we're going to boost gun safety technology. Today, many gun injuries and deaths are the result of legal guns that were stolen or misused or discharged accidentally. In 2013 alone, more than 500 people lost their lives to gun accidents and that includes 30 children younger than five years old.
>In the greatest, most technologically advanced nation on Earth, there is no reason for this. We need to develop new technologies that make guns safer. If we can set it up so you can't unlock your phone unless you've got the right fingerprint, why can't we do the same thing for our guns?
This is a solid case... Fingerprint Cards has almost a complete dominance within the rapidly growing smartphone fingerprint sensor market segment, and even the giant Samsung might have to make the switch from Synaptics to Fingerprint in order to meet the fingerprint sensor quality requirements of Android Pay. The competitors so far are just inferior. And with expansions into other market segments such as tablets, smartcards, cars, and in the future maybe even guns apparently? This stock has yet to hit its peak. The estimated profit per share for 2016 is 40-50 SEK which puts the P/E ratio at 11-14 so it's not even overvalued if you believe in this company and its technology.
>Today, I was out shopping with my wife. My fingerprint didn't get recognized multiple times and the transaction didn't go thru when it finally worked. So I used another card on samsung pay and it worked to save me from total embarrassment. Then at another store, my fingerprint did not get recognized for 5 consecutive times and it wiped out the whole samsung pay. I could not pay any longer for the day because I don't carry wallet any longer. I am 100% dependent on Galaxy S6. So for the rest of the day, my wife had to pay with her plastic card. She has iPhone 6S by the way and she was not impressed with my Samsung pay.. :(
gun owners would never adopt finger based scanners for guns. the only people who would be cucked enough to try are Californians after Feinstein inevitably forces it. But Cali shooters is such a niche market you'll barely see anything in return.
Damnit I want to save my money for investment but all this shit is making me want to buy more gunz.
I was going to start a blog on Patreon, only to discover this when I was reading the fine print:
>Intellectual Property Rights
All text, graphics, editorial content, data, formatting, graphs, designs, HTML, look and feel, photographs, music, sounds, images, software, videos, designs, typefaces and other content (collectively "Proprietary Material") that Users see or read through the Service is owned by Patreon.com, excluding User Generated Content that Patreon.com has the right to use.
...which I interpret to mean is 'we own your work, you work for us, and you only get money if you can find third-parties to pay your salary'.
Any alternatives for ongoing crowdsourcing (as in, not Kickstarter, not one lump sum) that don't have this type of copyright-harvesting policy?
>>1027482
Before you jump to that conclusion I would check their definition of "User Generated Content that Patreon.com has the right to use" because you could fall under that category
As an alternative, many listener-supported podcasts use a regular shopping cart to set up a subscription service for donors. Basically every month their credit card is billed for $5 or whatever.
>>1027493
That is a fair criticism, I was not really sure what User Generated Content meant, and now that I've read through again, I am still not.
https://www.patreon.com/legal
It's the 11th heading as far as I can tell. If you or anyone else can make more sense of it than I can, I'd appreciate it.
I've heard of people doing Paypal tip jar type set-ups, but those never seem terribly profitable... before I go down that route anyway, I'd like to know for certain that Patreon is not an option for me.
My guess is that User Generated Content simply means 'my registration info when I sign up to Patreon'. Can anyone support this definition? It sounds like it's just a serpentine rewording of the usual 'we will not share your personal information with any third party except with your permission' kind of thing.
I just saw The Big Short tonight.
What are /biz/'s thoughts on it?
i enjoyed moneyball, other than that michael lewis books are fucking boring shit
Crock of shit
>>1027353
Sir, that's not how reviews are done. Since you have seen it why don't you tell us what YOU thought.
I might see it if you say its good enough.
So with the upcoming recession/depression, what are some economic downturn proof jobs?
>>1027347
blue collar trades.
plumbing, electrical, hvac, etc.
>>1027347
Insurance, it is one of the best protected jobs I have found. One day I plan to write a guide on how to go from unemployed with no real skills to insurance. It's actually really easy.
>>1027347
Actuarial or public work.
My battleplan for wealth: (and by wealth I mean a liveable wage. wealth can come after, atm I'm making 15k and this shit needs to stop)
my background is design/advertising. i bring solid skills in that department.
THE PLAN:
- self teach python
- create some apps (simple stuff, but hopefully responsive, wellconceptualized and visually neat and clean)
- create a website for my company
- launch apps commercially
- start doing basic marketing to gain freelance clients (lower level programming jobs)
- simultaneously apply for internships as software developer
what you say biz? don't laugh at me, i don't care about making 100k. I'm fine with 40k but a moderately respectable career.
Once those things are achieved I will either
a) do a masters in design
b) do a BA in CS
what do you think?
Can't be worse than the shit you're doing now. Only thing is that I doubt if you're actually successful you will go back to school. It just won't be justified.
>>1027276
>create some apps
>some
very good, keep on the good work
Post Dividends for the year!
Roughly $20k spread between taxable and IRA accounts. Which was not even close to making up my "loses".
>>1027283
Even at a 5% dividend that means 400k. Damn! I wish I has that.
>>1027283
Enough to live off tho.
Gratz, you've reached "don't have to care anymore" status.
What kind of new businesses will we see in 2016?
As technology develops, new business opportunities emerge. Take drone photography for an example. What will 2016 bring?
We'll have at least 3 more major companies use the uberification method to build global brands.
>>1027354
>uberification method
Sorry I am retard, can you explain?
>Yo /biz/ anybody has experience with drone photography/video?
>hey /biz/ looking to start my own drone photography company, any ideas?
>Looking to start my own business with drones. Maybe in video recording what do you think /biz/?
>CAN I MAKE 200K YEAR WITH DRONES?
> hey biz/ just bought 500k worth drones!! is the best invesment you can ever make !!
>looking to start my own military drones with ak-47s and m16, any advice?
>dronEs arE the damn futUrah
>drones n' sheeittt
Is an associates degree in information security and a bachelors in computer and network security a good idea?
>>1027242
I've never understood why people get associates degrees of they're going to get a bachelor's anyway. What's your reasoning, OP?
>>1027368
>I've never understood why people get associates degrees of they're going to get a bachelor's anyway
Cheaper, can transfer credits, less intensive for people who are/feel they're not smart enough to take on a 4 year school right away, gives you time to decide if you want to do it or not before dropping $10k
>>1027368
go to CC and transfer to a 4 year to save money
Anyone in Vegas? I'd like to move there and make some money. Money is nice.
>>1027151
What do you plan to offer in exchange for said money?
>>1027155
I plan to offer value.
>>1027151
Yes, I am pretty sure there are some people in Vegas. Next question?
Sell ban lifted on friday for large-cap investors? or something else?
>>1027139
c'mon /biz/ there has to be some anon that knows whats cooking
The ban will be lifted on Friday IF it's not extended.
I have no doubt it'll be extended.
They're throwing everything they've got at it and the market is still set to tumble tonight.
It opens in ten minutes. Grab your snacks.
>>1027230
I read on zerohedge that it was already extended.
Is this guy reliable?
He's an entertainer.
reliable meaning what?
he'll try to give you some good advice, and will touch some market news but he himself isn't even trading off all his bull/bear calls.
>>1027132
This.
He's a decent source for general stock market news but I wouldn't trust his buy/sell calls.
How do you plan on profiting when the market has it's inevitably delayed crash?
My plan is invest heavily in silver now, sell when the markets down, which should push silver higher, and buy stocks at discounted prices.
Is there a better way to prepare if you expect the market to fall hard?
>Buying a rock that protects against inflation
>Not shorting the market
>>1027026
Interesting thread.
Is there actually any legit sources which show that precious metals go up when the economy tanks?
It makes no real sense to me that it should go up, except for very speculative reasons. At best, you will probably get gains in line with inflation, at worst you will tank with everyone else.
Cash is king when everyone is looking to sell. That's why I'm keeping my options open for now.
>>1027026
>How do you plan on profiting when the market has it's inevitably delayed crash?
Buy the shit out of stocks.
