I had an idea for a business where I could just sit at home, but I'm having trouble at a part.

>post on craigslist looking for workers and say apply via email
>get a small pool of workers that way
>advertise handyman jobs basically
>send worker(s) there to do the jobs
>get money from clients that wanted the jobs done
>???????
>profit

I'm at a loss on how to pay the workers though. The entire point of this was for me to sit at home, so I don't want to go anywhere and meet them. I just want to give them the money. Most likely will not have paypal, so what do I do?

Anyone else think that's an odd looking boot?

It's quite strange.
>>
>>1030491
lmao. so basically you want to start a general contractor business and not meet any of your potential employees or clients?

Are there any real "socially responsible" funds out there? I'd like to get a return on my investment but not if it means making executives at Apple / GE / MS / Merck richer.

there are not no.
the biggest dividend stocks are all mega-corporations

if you want money you are going to have to deal with that. They are not offering high dividends just because they are awesome. They want people to stay regardless of the moral and social outcomes in society.

welcome to money
>>
lol @ socially responsible.

I invest in guns. And the military industrial complex. And cigarettes. And booze.

I haven't invested in the funeral industry, but I probably will.

The reason people spend so much time praising companies with a social conscious is because they want to reward them for the fact that they aren't making any money.
>>
Yeah in vegan health stores and gluten free food.

You won't make much if any money though.

This is my first time on this board and I've come to you because I don't know shit about finance.

I have about 1 million JPY in cash in the US.

I have about 17K USD owed in student loans, about half of which is at a 6% interest rate and the other half is 3%.

I've been paying 200 USD a month because I didn't have much money in my US bank account and I wanted to stretch it until I was able to get some cash back in the US.

What should I be looking to do here in terms of timing my currency exchange. From what I understand the current exchange rate is garbage for me, but because I have to pay my loan off I'm under some pressure to have USd available. I can wait a bit but not until 2020 or whatever.

tl;dr when's an optimal time to change JPY to USD soonish

The potential volatility in the currency market should make you wait until the dollar falls. Also consider a bounce around, buy commodities with the yen and sell them in dollars

where you bought at, price is already like 2 SDs from the average, so trying to sell there is literally burning money. it's going to be extremely hard for price to be 3 SDs below average, while it's easier for it to revert back to at the most 1 SD below average.

Do I have to pay this much for health insurance? Are there any less expensive options that include dental coverage? I'm in NJ and can realistically afford maybe $100-150 monthly.

Why does the "Hypothetical growth of $10,000" graph of Vanguards intermediate term treasury fund look so much better than the price history of the same fund on Yahoo finance? I know they're measuring different things but the discrepancy still seems large.

One is based on the share price and one is based on account value, this will make the charts not look exactly the same. I'm sure that Vangaurd factored in reinvested dividends and I image Yahoo didn't. Who knows.
>>
Reinvested dividends. You thought index investing was a meme? Wait till you see the growths with DRIPs.

basically yahoo assumes you take all your dividends and spend them or something.

Before getting into entrepreneurship, how many failures should you be able to sustain with the capital you have?
3 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
Depends. What's your ability to find a regular job that pays enough for you to recover like?
>>
I think it depends on the amount invested, no? One enormous failure could wipe out the savings of most people.

Can we get a financial/investing podcast thread going?

I'm not expecting this to explode or anything, but I'm looking for recommendations for a decent podcast for beginner investors.

Anything with money management is welcome too.

Do you Britbongs invest through a discount broker or using a SIPP? Seems that the income tax relief on a SIPP really gives you a good head start on the market and helps to build you portfolio but I'm not sure whether it is worth not being able to take money out until I am 55.

What do you other brits do?

Have you used all of your ISA? If your not maxing out the 15k of it I would say fill your boots in it first if access to the funds is necessary. Any income/gains is tax free.

So you've got about 2500 shares. You can sell 25 calls against at .35 cents thats 800 every 45 days or so, thats 6400 per year.
6400/33000 =19.4% ROI.
>>
>>1030247

How do I invest in alcohol?
I think Russian River is private.
I don't want to invest in piss beer like BUD(Budweiser).
Then there's something like BF.A, but I don't like the taste of Jack Daniels.
There's Constellation Brands(STZ) who have Svedka.
Suntory (STBFY) has Yamazaki
Davide Campari - Milano(DVDCF) has Wild Turkey
I want to invest in products I actually enjoy, but all the good ones are private.

This advice is on the house. Investing in a company for their product is one of the dumbest things you can do.
>>
STZ is in process of buying Ballast Point to break into craft brew market. Might be a good buy, but I haven't looked into them that closely.

What trading platform is this?
Which brokers offers it?

inb4, it's not MT4, MT5, cTrader, FXCM Trading Station. The most similar is NinjaTrader, but I'm like 80% it's not cause it lets you trade every NYSE stock or ETF.

I don't recognize it, and I've seen most.

Could be hand made. It's getting more popular for firms to build their own platforms.

Why do you want to know? Do you see an indicator that you want on it? Just reverse engineer it onto another platform.

wiki/Parabolic_SAR is the only non-avg indicator I see on there, besides the RSI of course.
