Has America become this rich through capitalism? would they ever be this rich if their society was based around Marxism?

define "rich"

But in terms of pure power, capitalism has proved to be far better as it's just a more efficient system in terms of both giving people the ability to buy things, as well as giving the government the ability to buy better equipment.

As for your image, which is clearly bait, the EU may have a larger GDP than the US but it's also a "country" that won't be around in ten years due to conflicts of interest between France, Germany, and the PIGS.
>>
>>1031948
no nigga lol
>>
>>1031950
It's not bait at all Europe has almost double the population over America.

Just want to find out if the living standard and GDP would be a lot worse under a marxism society.

can a person outside the u.s profit over whats happening in murica with the fall of the dji, people say that oil prices go down and commodities go up, why would oil even go down.

how would a person from another country profit off this, where can you even go to browse oil stocks or gold mining companies

Just buy VOO in chunks over the next few months and you'll be rich soon enough
>>
>>1031785
i was thinking about this, but im not too sure about exchange rates and whats generally cheap or expensive. see, i live in newzealand so i dont have easy accessibility to american stocks unless i call the bank and order a specific ticker.

that is why i am asking if i can somehow profit within my own country because of the effect of whatever is going on.

I was looking at ANZ yesterday trying to figure out how to short an index too.

Seems if you fill in their PDF form on PAPER and MAIL it in you can trade on NZX as well as the Dow Jones and other international markets.

But wft that is going to take weeks.

And I'm in the county in the middle of the SI so cant easily visit a branch

Let's say I can telecommute and do not need to show up anywhere

Where should I live, tax wise?

All I really want is fast internet, least amount of interaction with dumb Americans, and a winter that's milder than Michigan. The rest of the world is shit compared to the US so I might as well stay here

I do like lakes but I can live without them

Im working on my resume and im having a few issues. Mainly Its 3 pages long! I know that's too long. I would never read a full page when I was hiring. Here is the issue, i've trimmed, and trimmed, and trimmed... I really cant lose much more.

Another issue I have run across is a few people have told me I come off as arrogant and entitled after reading it. However if I take out the "favorite project" section, I feel it lacks soul or personality.

Id love to post it here but converting RTF to JPEG is only showing the first page. Any help on that?

Got that nailed... I think its a major reason my resume is so big. They say include the last 5 years of work history. Problem is, just work history for me is a page and 3/4
>>
>>1031320
They're not hiring you for your soul or your personality. They're hiring you to kiss their ass. If they even bother to do something stupid like ask for your bestest favoritest thing, you better put on a shit eating grin and make something up related to the job, because that's all they care about. Cut relevant work history last.

Depends on how minimum wage is expected to increase. Businesses aren't going to want to incur the heavy investment unless they know for sure that wage-hikes are inevitable. But if wages go to like 10 or so i expect this to happen
>>

Min. wage in SF is expected to reach $15. I'm not sure about the rest of the States, but I wouldn't be surprised if they go $10+.

Long Call
>Potential Losses: 100% of you investment
>Potential Gains: Infinite

Long Put
>Potential Losses: 100% of your investment
>Potential Gains: The strike price

Short Call
>Potential Losses: Infinite
>Potential Gains: 100% of your writing price

Short Put
>Potential Losses: Strike price minus writing price
>Potential Gains: Writing price

With these four possibilities in mind, why would anybody actually write options?

Picture completely unrelated, sorry about that.

it's all about expected value. when you write or sell options most of the time you win small but sometimes you lose big. option selling strategies have been very successful in general for the past 5/6 years.

Fellow /biz/raelis,

It is time we stop using that ridiculous meme that everyone posts and put together a legitimate reading list for beginners, and potentially even regular, traders.

The most recommended that I have seen are:

Intelligent Investor by Benjamin Graham
Security Analysis by Benjamin Graham
As well as pretty much all of Warren Buffett's stuff.

Any others?

Those books are pretty helpful.

I recommend this short YouTube video for business noobs, by Big Bill in Baltimore. It really helps shake the dust off and explain some simple business principles:

What are/will be the most employable degrees and qualifications?

What subjects and skills pretty much guarantee that you'll be able to get a job once you're done, considering the job market right now and how it's predicted to evolve in the near future?
143 posts and 10 images submitted.
>>
Computer science in my opinion will always remain in highest demand, anything involving gas and oil distribution, medical & treatment, engineering, etc. I'm only a freshman in college so I don't know everything but I know those will definitely guarantee you a job after graduating. And when it comes to skills, many people *post grads who have the job they want* have gave me the same answer, don't be an asshole, be "diverse", be open to learn. :)
>>
>>1023325
Computer science for sure.
>>
>>1023332
>>1023335
So computer science is basically a guaranteed job nowadays and in the years to come? Since it's getting increasingly outsourced, how does one stay competitive in the field? What skills should I prioritize, what certs should I get if I want to become a valuable asset in the industry?

What branch of CS is best to get into? I'm guessing it's either software engineering or security

I made a thread on this earlier and nobody replied :(

So I think either we decouple with the US and keep rates low, or possibly negative as Poloz suggested, which would be unprecedented and would destroy our currency, or we raise rates and bring destruction upon the credit system. I dunno. Someone smarter than me will have to post, I'm just a lowly Canadian.
>>
i'm not a cuck like you OP but the plan is simple. we sell CAD at a reasonably adjusted slightly higher price to the americans on the premise that CAD is bound to return to normal levels in the near future. we then sell the USD acquired for CAD and rinse and repeat

>>1022143

Tbqh though I really hope that CAD keeps falling since I've nearly all my money in US stocks... Fuck this country

Why is real estate considered a "cutthroat" business? What facets of the business give it that reputation?
74 posts and 5 images submitted.
>>
no one on this board in real estate?
>>
>>1035574

I was in real estate.

I mean, it's a hard business. A lot of people get rich, a lot of people lose everything.

There are a lot of people in this space that have 100k net worth that fuck around buying million dollar properties, that's why it's known as "cutthroat"

For the past 8 years, it's been a "everyone makes money hand over fist" business, but soon it will be a "everyone stupid enough to still be in loses everything" business when housing prices correct
>>
>>1035596
Thanks for answering. I was just about to change and head to the gym. explain the whole "everyone makes money hand over fist" part. And how is it that people lose everything? What are they losing besides money?
