Just read the wikipedia page whenever it comes to self-help books you fucking idiot. Crack open a text-book and learn a new skill that you can actually apply to get a job or own a business.
The Bible
Hey /biz/ I made a robinhood investment simulator on Investopedia.
I originally planed to use it for myself as a testing game. But I want to let some of you guys in on it.
The game has rules in place to mimic Robinhood, no commission, no shorting, etc.
You start with 1k, end date is April 14, 2016.

Why is it so hard to find two good fucking employees? Literally have the easiest fucking job in the world.
Yeah, I mad.
Employee relationships often are toxic for a healthy workplace, just FYI.

401k and other retirement investments have no bearing on day to day stock market outcomes because your event horizon is over 20 years into the future.
In short, don't get mad over retirement taking a dip in the near term since you have plenty of time.

Newfag here. What do you /biz/ people use to buy and sell stocks? And what do you guys usually trade, stocks, currency etc?
Robinhood is popular because it's free (for now).
I'm still using Scottrade.

How in the name of fuck can someone offer zero commission? Is this legit, can you vouch for this website?
>>1045054
Like a bank, off the user's cash balances. They also offer margin accounts.
I think Chevron Corporation is going to be a major investment opportunity in 3-6 months.
The dividend / yield of 1.07/5.11 is great
Even with the price of oil dropping like a dirty whore, Chevron should stabilize around $79-$80 per share.
The beta of 1.14 is a strong play ON THE REBOUND

>Any other research targets?

Some wonder if CVX will reduce their dividend, anon.
You should wait to see if that comes true.
There is a lot of buzz among industry people now about what OP is mentioning. Everyone wants to know who will get beat down even more and then bounce back. Wait until mid year before making any decisions. There is gigantic pain yet to come when the April credit reviews begin and the "write downs" commence resulting in massive equity devaluation and "destruction" of capital for which the oil bidness is so well known
>>1045080
Worst Case scenario.
>OPEC Floods market
>China floods the market (also)
>Oil Per Barrel: $20
The next great bailout would be the oil and refinery companies.

>CVX will reduce their dividend
I don't see CVX or XOM reducing the dividend.
It would tank both stocks and I would be very upset along with many shareholders.
Who else on suicide watch?!
When will it recover?
I need to feed my kids..

What do you guys think of a Computer information systems degree then followed by a MIS degree?
Is this pretty much the track to a manager in a IT department?
I'm average with computers and have little programming experience but im willing to try hard and learn
Is this a good degree route? Its either this or finance or accounting.
I was told a CIS degree has better pay prospects and may be a little more exciting than accounting or finance.
Any help is appreciated
>>1044797
Coming out of school though, your boss will probably be some CS nerd who will micromanage the fuck out of you. Because they're all autistic.
I'd rather suck on a shotgun desu, senpai.
>>1044797
I did linguistics/neuroscience and i'm going into MIS this year.
Business admin + 3yr IT management work study + 3yr client facing retail hell, then get a job as a management or management assistant after graduating. Following that you can work on a management degree.
hey; group of friends have been working on this what do you guys think honest reviews.

Great idea in theory, but a few issues. Firstly, this hasn't been done already? Success of this will greatly depend on the amount of these said chores available in the area. I think you're overestimating the amount of people who would actually opt to use an app to find someone to do their little "jobs". They will likely offer that to a son/daughter of a friend they know personally. This seems like the freelancer website, but for kids. That being said, if you can get a shitton people signed up for this in a big city, I think this could be fairly successful. Another pro being is that it's really not that costly if it fails. So definitely give it a go

A dude in my area started something called guygo where to go pick something up for you for $5. It's pretty awesome here because they will go get your groceries in a blizzard
Are options a good idea to start investing in?
pšst... invest in greed.

Buy some deep OTM AMZN puts for July. Thank me later.
A friend at work asked me this the other day. I told him he'd have more fun and success by going to the casino once a month.
I am using Google sheets to track ins and outs of money in my business. But what should I definitely do, and not do?
Thanks!
No one does their taxes here? I'll just call the IRS.....
don't look for business advice on website with pictures of cocks on them.

OK, serious answer here.
I'm a programmer and I sell products.
You want to keep a table for inventory and sales at the very least. Each table breaks down the respective transactions into their smallest components. For example, I track item price, tax, fees, insurance, shipping vouchers, shipping cost, refunds, etc. Then at the end of the year (or tax period), all you really have to do is sum up some rows/columns.
Now I over complicated this and did it in SQL Server with some fancy calculations to calculate item cost on the fly to determine a gain/loss on every sale and print out price sheets and a ton of other things. But you can still do the core functionality (how much did I make this year, how much tax do I owe, etc) with Excel or another spreadsheet.
You definitely want to keep a box with all of your receipts and invoices. And you definitely want to keep a backup of your spreadsheet on CD/SSD/paper or something. Just in case because the IRS can audit you a few years back. May be naive here but I expect an audit isn't such a horror story for people that A) aren't immediately hostile towards government and B) are organized enough to prove profits/losses.

I visit this board very infrequently. I'm generally smart with my money but I'm no guru by any means. I just max my 401k, started doing my ROTH, manage my debt efficiently and smartly, etc. Probably in the bottom 25 percentile as far as market knowledge goes when it comes to this board though.
I just started up Betterment to get my feet wet in investing. I know that I could get better returns just buying those funds directly that Betterment is investing my money in, but I'm putting very little money in weekly (25/wk) and going to see how it goes.
Betterment's UI is incredible and the fees are very reasonable (.35% for <10k which comes out to just $36/year at $9,999)
I think it's very useful for certain people. My sister has a minimum wage job at 30, no savings or assets, and to be honest she is going to retire with no 401k, no ROTH, and no savings and that worries me. She's not with it enough to manually invest so this automatically debiting $25/week or something would be perfect for her. Even if the return is mediocre (3-6%) it could be a great thing over 35 years.
Once I play with this a bit I'll just be buying the funds directly through Schwab probably.
Overall it's not the most efficient but is definitely a good tool for certain people.
Thoughts please? I generally want to hear what people think of these services.
So guys, for a person to learn the basics of stock market, investing, trading where does he need to start from what does he have to study/learn to begin doing all the above having 0 experience on the actual market and having little knowledge of it the terms and everything basically that has to to with it
