What is a good internet broker /biz/.
What do you use for online trading.
I use Interactive Brokers, but they're not for chumps. 10k minimum deposit, but it's worth it if you're serious.

What about Plus500? I am a chump.
Scottrade.
Can we get a motivation thread? Pics and stories? Help me my /fit/izens

I am currently finishing up my 1st semester of CC, majoring in engineering, and was viewing a reddit thread about how much more benefits people who study trades get, how much they make, and how much more satisfying their job is. I would be graduating with an AS in engineering in 2 more years ( my math in hs was pretty shitty) and then i would need 2 more years (5 in total) to complete a BS in engineering and enter the job market. would entering into a trade/pre-apprenticeship where i can gain experience on the job, where they possibly pay for my education, and also where i would have more job security. what do the autists of biz think?
bump for interest

i couldn't find a job after getting my mech eng bachelors. the only calls back i could get were for shit tier contract positions (6 to 12 months in length) with no benefits and pay ranging from 40 to 50k. working on my phd now and i doubt that'll pay off either if i graduate.
was going to go into trucking originally and it would have likely been a much better choice. first year you typically make 30 to 40k but you don't need college.
>>1059976
What is wrong with contract work?
It's a quick way to get your experience up.
I'm someone who's saving up money to throw my life away. I want to open a comic book/gaming store. Pretty much toss my social life away in pursuit of my passion. The thing is, I don't know how much I'm gonna need to start this beotch up. I've done some research online and everyone says you need 60-100k to start a comicbook store, but to me this seems high. Anyone in a similar boat?
>>1059780
There's a lot that goes into this. From getting and managing staff, to legal issues, to setting up payment processing, etc.
First and foremost is studying your market. Is there a demand/need for your store? Are there any competitors? How are they doing? What can you do different.
Also, location, location, location. You can have a great store, product, and service, but if you set up shop in a shitty side street because the rent is cheap, you can be fucked. Also, it's all about the cash flow. It will take months maybe even a year to stabilize operations. You better have extra cash or access to credit around to operate at a deficit for some time.
My friends (husband and wife) left their jobs to open a gaming bar. He was an engineering at NASA and she was a teacher. It's been like 2 years now and it's very successful.

Friends of a friend bought out store from a chain that went under. They ran it for maybe 2 years until they had to give up.
Rent is killer. There's a market for almost any kind of store but not enough to flush $5K+ per month down the toilet supporting some layabout landlord's coke habit. I wanted to open a shop too and still feel tempted every time I drive by another vacant storefront. Nobody in spending; nobody has been since 2009.
Running a business isn't as hard as some people make it out to be. It's getting traffic that's tough. If you can't see doing at least $25K sales per month, think twice about doing it this way.
You'd also better have a backup plan if it doesn't work out.
>>1059856
Oh, store that closed was a game store. I also know a guy who's been successful in comics for 30 years but has downsized to only one store at this point. The market just isn't spending and costs are going up up up.
What do you think?
>>1059697
Well no. Just not directly.
Had our kids been raised by incompetent mothers the GDP would likely be a lot lower.
Mothers and family upbringing play a huge role in a successful society. Its just not seen as directly as literally selling products through a business
>>1059697
I think we're coming up on tax time, when the media will spend a lot of time telling us what the "market value" of stay at home mom's is. They will probably throw out a figure of around $120k per year.
Meanwhile, they will ignore the husband who's busting his hump to earn $50k per year to support the wife and kids.
GDP is a number. It neglects anything that isn't quantifiable.
Hey /biz/, I'm interested in starting my career as a truck driver.
Anyone know how hard is it to get there?
How's the pay?
Do you like the job?
>>1059660
Was considering that too
Pros, work on your own usually
Cons, infractions go on your personal license, hard to just stop and take a piss, I like to drink a lot. A lot of money to get the license unless you have a rig you can borrow. Like most jobs employer wants experience relegating you to shit jobs/runs at first. There are probably more but that was enough to turn me off of the idea for now.
CR England will hire anyone who is infraction free for 3 years and can take a drug test (and they KEEP drug testing you constantly at random)
My brother went to their driving school. One of the best in the country actually. But there are downsides. School is very fast paced. If you fall behind anywhere, they will tell you not to come back tomorrow. His class started on Sunday afternoon with 125 people. By Thursday of the second week (day before you take your CDL A test) there was only 30 people left. 25 of them passed their test the next day.
CR England will pay you very poorly (between 60 and 90 cents a mile) but their benifits are really nice. They will lie to you. If they say you are home 2 days every 2 weeks, expect that to be more like 20 hours once a month... that however also means you are racking up miles (and money)
No one stays with them for more than 2-4 years, but at the same time, no other company outside maybe Swift (shitty driving school, shitty pay, and ancient beaten to hell trucks) will hire a driver without 4000 hours of driving on their logs.
>>1059760
I forgot to mention, do not go to trucking school on your own. CR England and Swift run their own schools for drivers they are going to employ. Your chances of going to private school and getting a job are less than zero. No company hires drivers without 2 years experience because the insurance for you ends up costing them money every mile you drive. Its why people like CR and Swift pay so poorly. They wont turn a profit on you until month 24+
Do not pay a penny for anything unless there is a written job offer waiting at the end of it. CR and Swift are not only both free but they both pay for your hotel and bus ticket to get to the school. If you graduate your bus ticket back home is free as well
Why is frontline ltd trading so cheap?
What caused its price to crash so hard?

What does /biz/ think about the concept of buying/selling websites on platforms like flippa?
Any experiences? pic unrelated
Nikkei's up.
dow will go up
oil will go up
you heard it here first.
but 4chan told me the market is tanking and oil is going to $8/barrel
>>1058932
will my ETFs go up too?
>>1058933
The market very well could still be tanking, and we havent seen any producers default, so oil probably havent hit bottom.
Sup /biz/. I'm planning on growing psilocybin mushrooms and selling them in my local area (maybe grow and sell weed if things go well). Any tips on logistics? How to make stashes how to make a secure website (am i gonna need tor?), avoid getting caught, etc.
>>1057723
1) Tell literally no one. Not even best bro.
If you can't do this, just quit now.
>>1057731
But I'm still gonna need someone to distribute, I don't think I can do all the work alone.
Besides, why would a trustworthy person be a liability since we're in this together?
Sameguy.
OK. I'm with you, you'll have to finnd someone you really trust. Someone you'd trust with your vehicle for a month. That level of trust.
Hey /Biz/
Whats the go with CFA exams? My university and CFA Australia offers the opportunity to complete my first exam in July, 6 months before I graduate. Should I do it? How essential is it?
>>1057711
It's not worth all the time and money OP. Yes it's impressive but it's not necessary at all.
>>1057930
this.
if you want to be a wagecuck for life and like being bitchslapped as a subordinate, then its worth it.
Gotta give us a little more info
What jobs are you looking for after school
>Im going to travel the world
>starbucks barista
Why do people do this
>>1057596
Well yeah. I fly first class only though and can't stay in some faggot European hostel.
>>1057596
Are you kidding? After cost of living starbucks baristas make pennies per hour. $300 in unplanned expenses costs a month of their life, and that's more than my flight to LA purchased months in advance
Seems like we have quite a few aussies on the board, so why not a thread for discussing particular stocks, strategies, funds, whatever. Top blokes and dud rands welcome, learn something, lose something and hopefully make something as well
To start off, EPD. Tanked on Friday due to panic stemming from some funny behaviour of the management, but there looks to be a potential for a short term gain. So, falling knife or basketball?
>>1057565
NZ fag here, investing in NZ/AUS is like investing in a barren wasteland, theres nothing of value here lmao
>>1057651
Second
Also the main asx sim doesn't have shorts or support placing market orders out of hours.
Hi /biz/,
I was talking with my friend, and we think we have found a novel way to make bots in MMOs. This is obviously against the TOS of most MMOs. So, if we were to make an effective bot, how would we declare the income? I would definitely not be keen to launder cash, at all, and would like to keep it clean as a whistle without opening myself up to civil lawsuits.
How do?
>>1057471
Don't claim?
Collect payments to bitcoin?
Also if you want play an mmo with a real cash economy try Entropia universe. It's like a slot machine
>>1057492
Bitcoin would be a good idea, sure, but some of these hackers/botters have made $90k from game exploits in osrs alone. Bitcoin in that case would just have extremely poor liquidity.
Entropia universe sounds interesting. I'll check it out.
>>1057496
> bitcoin
Bitcoin is also taxed in the USA. By the way, decent MMOs have scripts that smell out even novel bots. Enjoy your bans.
