Increase to a value based on projected market.

It's like 'significant' means directly correlated not 'large.'

Who else gets a sick, twisted pleasure from buying everything from Amazon? Jeff Bezos is a filthy rich creep who probably masturbates to the thought of putting small stores out of business, but hot dog, his prices are low. I'm starting to enjoy helping Amazon become the only store in the world.

it's not his fault really. big chain stores put small stores out of business long ago, and everyone hates going there. From the giant parking lot, to the long lines, to the underpaid know nothing employees, walking half a mile to find the department. Then when you finally get there, low and behold, they don't have what you need and you wasted almost an hour of your busy schedule. Call and ask before you go? Fat fucking luck chump, the monkeys working there won't know shit or give you straight up false information. Even some of the big shitty chains are going under to even larger chains. Cya circuit city, byebye radioshack, eat shit best buy, maybe frys will survive? Doubtful. Kmart? get shit on by walmart tiny ass store. Target tried to appeal to the "progressive" crowd and women selling "slightly better than dogshit" and they are eating that shit now too trying to keep up with the hip kids and their lingo.

fuck all of them, walmart is only being propped up by putting themselves right ontop poverty stricken neighborhoods and sucking up all that delicious EBT and welfare from people who are too stupid for internet and too poor for a car so they walk there

I even get my grocheries from amazon now, I refuse to shop at walmart/target and all thats left are these fuck you in the ass hippie chains price gouging your dick off because they run a shitty business model and trash something like 60% of their food. Tell me how amazon is able to deliver to my door with free nylon bags in a 1 hour window that I chose for the same price or cheaper than these shit stores. Tell me why they need to charge me 50 cents just for a fucking paper or plastic bag. Tell me why I'm sitting in a 10 person line because you have 3 registers open at prime time, when you are paying these poor suckers HALF the hourly wage of an amazon delivery driver.

fuck em.
>>
>>1253721
remember when big chains where seen as the devil?

capitalism at work, thinking amazon will remain the only one is like thinking apple was going to be the only smartphone provider when they dominated the market

Is Real Estate a bubble worldwide? Is it worth investing in?

Parents own two apartments in Moscow, one is in the central part, the other one on the outskirts, both of them became twice as cheap as they were in the corpulent oily 2000s. It's obvious it's already too late to sell them, however, my question is, is it the same situation in London or NY? Do people see apartments as just apartments or as a way to invest their life savings hoping they'll multiply?

depends on location, all the major US cities are for sure in a bubble. They are propped up by foreign investors, boomers who will die off soon, and industries that are being squeezed by the state and could move at any time. That and the overwhelming (and growing) poverty class in these cities demanding more from the state that are already heavily socialist leaning it's bound to crash at any time. Most of the people are living paycheck to paycheck paying rent prices even with decent jobs. Don't expect the major industries to stick around forever when they have to pay even entry level people 60k+ to have even a decent quality of life while being taxed out the ass.

Look for emerging markets or undervalued markets. Common formula to tell if property is overpriced is annual rent X 10 = true home value (but some places expect rent to drop as well such as LA). Places like las vegas and Georgia for example were great buys 5 years ago and still decent now. The south in general is safe bets but don't expect fast money. Buying rural property slightly outside major cities is safe bets as well as you should expect them to expand as these overcrowded cities continue to push people out. It's 50/50 with that but you shouldn't experience a big loss, just the possibility of the city surviving and expanding its reach.

Do not invest in individual apartment units or homes. I'm in the us but I would think it would be similar in other areas. You are competing with normeis who will pay higher prices just to have a place. Invest in commercial if you have over $200k usd or equivalent to spend

Which (emerging or hypothesised) technologies do you think will most shape the economics of the 21st century, and why?

Personally I'm betting on fusion energy, artificial intelligence and the applications of quantum- and particle physics to electronics and computers

I'm 50/50 on genetic modification; it can shape global economics if we let it, but we all know how stringent laws and regulations are around this topic so it might never happen to it's fullest extent.

definitely virtual reality. The world is full of escapists, and virtual reality industry will absorb porn, anime, videogames and everything else betamales uses to comfort themselves.
>>
>>1253682
I mean I understand it can be profitable but for it to truly shape the economics in the 21st century the way, say, the computer has for the last decades I think VR would have to extend far beyond just comforting beta males, it has to truly be woven into the fabric of society like computers, electricity, medicine, oil, cars etc. has. Do you see that ever happening?

Everyone will probably need one at some point if their tasks get large and complex enough and if standards of quality get higher.

But at the moment, completing tasks on impulse appears to be the most gratifying and efficient. Got comprehensive finals on organic chemistry later today and I haven't studied. Never felt better just doing things when I feel like it.

Unifag here. Having to wake up at a certain time to go to work must suck balls. Are flexible schedules common for wage workers? What jobs offer flexible schedules?

when you got money
but like they like
ya know
like
keepin i' away from ya
cause they payin ya "annually"
that means that your money is worth a little bit less and less each year
however
though
check this, aight
so jaboy jamal georgie wentworth was like
ay yo

haha
and then he thought to himself
i could like

So, I am a 23 year old who has money with nothing good to spend it on. I got to thinking and researching and I found ethereum -I am sure you all are aware what I speak of- naturally something like this spiked interest. I noticed it did run on ETH, which does hold a value. I also read that it is more or less a fuel to run programs or whatever else power the entity others its users. Now, correct me if I am wrong, for I am only a kid who noticed either potential or bullshit, but if I was to get my hands on this Cryptocurrency could I simply sell it to people who will need it in the future assuming the masses understand the power the entity offer? Also assuming it gains value in the future.

ETH is a neckbeard meme. The entire smartcontract idea is retarded because you have to read code to know wtf you're signing.

The only reason Bitcoin caught on its simplicity. Normies hear all the bullshit about dollar collapse and say "I gotta buy some internet money." Same reason it rose and peaked along with gold. No one cares about useless smart contracts. ETH is too complex and stupid

Convince me why I shouldn't invest my wealth in managed funds like Goldman/Schwab/etc.

How much of a benefit could one gain by investing manually instead of hiring someone else to do it? Are you more likely to lose money by investing yourself?

Commissions and fees would be a reason not to, plus you are at the mercy of their decisions in investing.

You do it on your own if you have specific goals, industries, or stocks/funds/etfs/etc that you want to target.
>>
>>1253301
>You do it on your own if you have specific goals, industries, or stocks/funds/etfs/etc that you want to target.

I can understand doing this full time, but if I'm doing something else full time (work that produces the money to invest in the first place), I don't think I could do as well as those who do it full time.
>>
Try it on your own for a bit OP. Maybe its easier than you think.

If you hate it or cant deal with it, then go to a managed fund

I've been helping one of my parents deal with one of their parents assets, (my grandparent passed and we have to deal with a bunch of renters property, heritage property that has been held for sentimental value, a few monetary assets like lump sums and stocks.) I am left to help steer one of my parents to not only not spend all of the money before I inherit it. I would also like to invest it into some where it can grow over the next 15-30 years. We live in the continental USA and I am hoping to persuade my parent to invest it instead of just spending it. I have an idea, such as certain local stocks that have been doing well, but I would like more solid ideas. The estimate value is between 3 and 5 mil.

What's to say a 1% monthly even quarterly payout from a bank is better than risking the money with a preferred stock? It could be 30k of interest, If I'm still working, that's an amazing bonus while not having to worry about it.

I'm currently a rising sophomore at Penn State University who wants to break into investment banking upon graduating. I wasn't sure what I wanted to major in freshman year, so I didn't get nearly as involved as I should have. My GPA is currently a 3.9, but my involvement in finance-related clubs is nonexistent.

To remedy this, I'm looking to join the Nittany Lion Fund next year. It's a pretty well-known and respected club with very strong placement. However, with membership being exclusive as it is, the process to apply and join is rigorous. The interviews are known to be brutal, and prospective members are expected to have an extensive knowledge of the fundamentals of finance as well as the current market. And as of right now, my finance knowledge is limited.

I was wondering, then, which steps I should take this summer to prepare myself -- literature, online lessons, or otherwise. I've tried to do my own research, but it just seems like there's such an abundance of information and recommended material that I don't even know where to begin. Thanks in advance.
