I'm planning on making a new social network. How do I get the first users on the site when the site launches and there's no users?

Advertise on Facebook
>>
>>1248780
But what I'm struggling with is how I'm going to get people to join a social network with no one on it.
>>
>>1248786
You have to prelaunch and have a huge userbase of interested and influential people. Advertise your prelaunch, tell news sources and reddit about it so on the real launch date, people are excited.

Learn about prelaunching first, and reconsider making a social network. Spend your time targeting a niche instead of giant billion dollar ideas.

Hey there!

Is there somebody in the Orlando area who needs help in something?

I'm actually working as a manager in a nursing home but I don't want to work there anymore! Worst job of my life.

I'm applying to jobs online but this is urgent. I need to get out quick!

I run a fairly popular online gaming service with a few hundred active users and a profit of $7000/year. I'm considering moving on from it, as it takes some work to maintain. How much do you think this service would be worth if I sold the whole thing? Is there any marketplace where I could connect with potential buyers?

Can you elaborate a bit more about what this service is?
>>
Don't sell it, hire a couple people to
manage it for you and let them grow it out themselves. Tell them it won't be their full time job but can earn them a little revenue.

Otherwise I would sell it for 3-5 years worth ie $21k~35k

This might not be a straight /biz/ question, but it's a serious question, and law is related to /biz/

So I'm a non-law school/pre-law dude who just lucked into a legal research internship. What are some basic resources to use for researching things like case law and pending lawsuits?

bump

I don't have accounts for the PACER system, Westlaw, Bloomberg Law, etc.

I'm on Justia right now looking for active/pending lawsuits

I need some fuckin guidance
>>
>>1248498
Your job should arrange for your Westlaw access. You sign up for a pay-as-you go account, but its not cheap. But there's no reason why you would pay this yourself unless the job is a scam.

PACER accounts are free. You don't need to be a lawyer, so just sign up and get your credentials. Unless you're doing a massive amount of searches, you won't have any fees.

I don't think it's a scam ...

I think he might have thought I had access to Westlaw or PACER through my university, but we don't have a dedicated law program (and our pre-law isn't great from what I can tell), so I do not have access through the school, but I'm going to double check that tomorrow morning.

I didn't realize PACER could be free. I saw the 10 cents a page, $3.00 per document maximum charges, but I thought I couldn't even get that far without being at a law school. I'll investigate further.

Thanks for the reply

Hey, /biz/ I was visiting this site for the first time. Please be nice.

I was thinking about how many people with fetishes and money there are in the world, and how to develop a product for their needs.

I was literally laughed off /lgbt/ and /pol/ when I presented my idea, so I wanted to know what the hard working intelligent people of /biz/ thought.

Because you guys and girls know how these type of things work and how to do them, your opinion will be very valuable.

I'm thinking about doing a kickstarter thread, and If some of you guys have knowledge of manufaturing issues that may arise, I'll gladly listen to your sage advice

ok, this is my Idea

It's a fetish item

Adult Diapers...but not just any diapers
PINK diapers.
What's different about that, you say?
pink THONG diapers

Pink Thong diapers with GARTERS!!!!

I made a sketch of the idea. thanks for your feedback

The sketch is a little rough you should try designing one and modeling it
>>
>>1248340
I wish!!!

what do you suggest, like get a diaper and dye it and make a mock up? would this be enough for a manufacturer to construct or what?
>>
>>1248332

well, it's a niche within a niche product. caters to those who, within the fetish world of diaperwearing, like wearing feminine and sexy girly diapers, instead of diapery-diapers.

so i'd say you have a high likelyhood of everyone of those wanting to buy one or support the kickstarter.

because of that i'll say, the success is entirely dependant on how well you can manage to reach out to those people. what corners of the internet do they hang out in? how do you market to them without it being an obvious cash-grab, etc. that's sort of how i'd approach it.

i'd do my research before starting to work on the product.

Hey /biz/, where do I start in creating a portfolio for investing and what is the most recommended for starters? I'm in my early 20s living independently with a decent full-time job to get me by with extra money left-over at the end of the month. The hardest part for me is knowing where to start and I'm the type of person to learn as I go. Any advice is very appreciated

Let's say that I fall upon some financial hard times and withdraw $16,500 from my Roth IRA(That is, 3 years of principal contributions).

Am I allowed to, in the next year, contribute that same $16,500+$5,500 or am I only allowed to contribute that maximum annual amount?

Can some direct me or teach how promotions in jobs work? Specifically with engineering. We all know a lot of "high paying" jobs start off with a 100k salary. But people who make a million a year could have started out with 50k starting salary jobs, and somehow got more raises. I tried looking up maximum and medium salary, but even those arn't close to what these millionaires that started out with 50k jobs make.

Im confused how these promotions/raises work. What jobs would have lots of promotions, and what jobs would stagnate? Im guessing business jobs get the most raises, then doctors, then engineers based on what Ive heard over the years, but I still don't know why.

Im not going to change my career path based on the money, but still want to know how this works, so im prepared.

>Im guessing business jobs get the most raises, then doctors, then engineers based on what Ive heard over the years
Quite the contrary. You will always need a project lead in engineering. You will always need a higher level guy to lead a certain element. That's not the case with business. (No idea about medicine) They need much more people at a lower level than they need at a higher level.
>>
>>1247801
that makes sense. always need a higher level guy, huh.
>>
>>1247797
For the most part, people don't become millionaires by means of promotion or working for someone else.

Senior in highschool here /biz/ . Got a 97 on my ASVAB and am enlisting in airforce after the summer to do electric systems. I plan to become an electrician when I get out and live frugally until I am 45, and from there I want to buy property and rent it out and live off passive income for the rest of my life.

>>
That was my score and I went Navy Nuke because the pay is way better. That being said, you want to kill yourself on a daily basis.
But hey, not many people can put nuclear electrician on their resume.

I bought my first house at 24 (4.5yrs active duty) with money I made in the service and the investments made with same funds.

I think I only invested like $3k of my own money for lawyer fees, real estate, and such, but I have really good credit and didnt need a down payment.

The tenants pay nearly double the mortgage price. After HOA fees, insurance, a little extra contribution to the mortgage, and an emergency fund for the house, I make like $100/mo profit, but hey, who cares, the house is getting paid off and not by me.
>>
>>1247767
ive heard many shitty things about being a navy nuke, what is it like?
>>
>>1247781
It really all depends on your attitude and your command.

I was on a submarine for three years. The work was hard, the hours sucked, but I made the greatest friends with some of the coolest people, and I got to see and do a lot of cool shit. I really grew as a person in those three years.

Right now I'm on a carrier. The daily life is marginally better, but the people suck. A bunch of douchebag chiefs who don't feel fulfilled in life unless they're bossing people around.
There's too many places to hide, so people scam out of work, while the rest of it is loaded onto guys like me so that I can just get it done so I can go home for the day.

Regardless of the platform, nukes are always first on the ship, and last to leave. They work the most and are under appreciated.

I'm doing my 6 years and getting out. My secret for using my service to its fullest was that the entire time Ive been in, I've been preparing my finances and personal life for getting out and never coming back. Too many people re-enlist another 4years for the flashy $75k-100k bonus, just because they didn't plan for the future, theyre lazy, or they have no real ambition for their lives.
I never regret becoming a nuke, but I sure as hell won't be doing more than my initial enlistment.

I'm considering running a mobile coffee chart, I havn't seen any so far in my country (Poland).
You don't have to pay for rent or maintenance which you normally do if you run a coffeshop, so the cost of making one coffee is around 0.25$ and you can sell it for 1$ (which is still much lower than in a normal coffeshop).
Have you ever seen something like this? Do you think it was successful?

don't sell for less than a normal coffeeshop. sell for more.
the combination of highprice and shop novelty will make the coffee taste way better.

Nocoiner here.

I'm looking for ways to hop on the ETH train that don't involve exchanging USD. I looked into sucking dicks, but it turns out that isn't really viable.

I'm a programmer by trade, so I have some relevant skills to leverage, I'm just not aware of any platform for doing so (perhaps I should create one?). Not interested in faucets or any similar drudgery.
