Convince me why I shouldn't invest my wealth in managed funds like Goldman/Schwab/etc.
How much of a benefit could one gain by investing manually instead of hiring someone else to do it? Are you more likely to lose money by investing yourself?

Commissions and fees would be a reason not to, plus you are at the mercy of their decisions in investing.
You do it on your own if you have specific goals, industries, or stocks/funds/etfs/etc that you want to target.

I can understand doing this full time, but if I'm doing something else full time (work that produces the money to invest in the first place), I don't think I could do as well as those who do it full time.
Try it on your own for a bit OP. Maybe its easier than you think.
If you hate it or cant deal with it, then go to a managed fund

Yes. I certainly am.
They are literally just going to charge you fees to do the exact same things you can do yourself

well there's automated investing in just about every online broker... hell even the Acorns app...
All of these are "AI" trades based of your bull/bear stance and risk level...
You don't get to finely manage the weighs in investments, so for example, over 50% will be in specific dividend producing stocks and only 10% in ETFs.
You won't get to leverage or do options, etc.
Managing your portfolio is generally very easy if you do it for non-daytrading purposes.
You don't have to buy and hold either.. you can set a specific price point to buy or sell stocks/etfs/etc.
Start small, keep a bigger cash on hand or split the money up into auto-invest and the rest you manage...
Sign up for acorns too..
