Is learning to trade options the way to go, or is it a pipe dream for the average person to do?

>Most millionaires I know
>Have decent job, whether it's white or blue collar
>Roll their money into real estate, businesses, or market investments
>A few entrepreneurs had start-ups that got acquired by bigger competitors and got rich that way

Meanwhile, on /biz/, OP wants to daytrade using options.
>>

I love options, they're great. Less risky than stocks, and can be used to generate relatively consistent income.
Sell them weeklies my nigga.

>average person to do
Sure, if all you want to do is fuck around.
If you mean do that as your sole job, you'd need a pretty substantial bankroll.
The truth is, trading anything involves a ridiculously steep learning curve. You could spend years making virtually nothing, or even losing money. Compare this to someone making $50K at a standard job, who ends up with a quarter mil in the first 5 years.

I bought in at around $85/share and now it is over $100.

I was going to sell, but now I'm getting greedy.
What do I do? I know they say to sell a little bit, but I'm too greedy. Only thing I fear is next earnings report, but that isn't for a month.

I'd get out while you're up so much.
Like companies like GoPro and Uber, they had amazing performance by innovating an industry.
GoPro in affordable, high quality action cams, Uber in cheap ride-sharing taxi alternatives and Netflix in on-demand streaming.
But the longer time goes on the more market share they will lose as more and more competitors get in.

Go Pro once had close to 100% of the action-cam market and now their share price is a quarter of what it was last year.

Uber had 100% of the ride-share market not long ago, but now have competitors like Lyft and soon Google who are taking more and more, though Uber isn't publicly traded so it's harder to see what the effect is yet.

Netflix has slowed its rapid growth recently as either most people who were going to get Netflix has already got it or they've gone to one of the many new competitors.

They might come up with more ways to make money in the future despite the increase in competition and the share price may continue rising albeit at a much more conservative rate, but it is pretty unlikely you'll see close to the 20% gain you already have if it rises at all.

My advice, sell now, take the profit and reinvest in something else.
>>
How many shares? If you bought a ton, sell half, be happy with the profits you made, and then just let the rest do its thing.

a local sandwich joint which was usually employed high school and college kids recently got rid of them all and replaced them with mexicans.

So the house next to me is up for sale and the other day I saw some faggot come with a drone to take areal shots for the real estate agent to put up on her listing. So I did some research and it turns out those fuckers charge an average of AT LEAST $150/hour for 5 pictures, they also charge by the hour for the time it takes them to travel to the location.

Do you think it would be wise to invest less than $1000 in a high quality drone and start my own business on the side? My only concern is if the market is too saturated and then I take a hit reselling my drone.

Any recommendations on equipment? Seems like the DJI phantom 3 is the go to for best bang for your buck. Unless there are smaller brands with better equipment? I'm probably gonna develop a plan this week and weigh out the cons and pros when I get some time. Got to also develop some price packages (still shots, stills plus video, additional post rendering, etc..).

/biz/, tell me why this wouldn't work.

I live in a place where rent has skyrocketed in the last two years. There is no reason to expect it to come down in the near future. The average rent:

1 BR: $1200/mo
2 BR: $1800/mo
3 BR: $2400/mo

However, the prices of homes for sale have not (yet) seen a drastic increase. This is a resort area, so home prices were already relatively high. The average sale price of homes is roughly:

1BR: $210K
2BR: $260K
3BR: $330K
4BR: $400K

So, the smart move here would be to buy a house and rent it. In fact, this is what most people do here. For example, buy a 3BR with the lowest down payment you can get away with and have a mortgage payment of about $1500/mo, rent the house, and pocket $800 every month. Also, the other $1600 goes toward paying off the mortgage. ALSO, home prices probably will increase steadily. So you win on three levels.

This gave me a crazy idea. Why not turn this into a sort of "fund" by opening up this idea to investors? For every dollar you invest in the fund, you earn a percentage each month based on the total amount of money made by the group as a whole.

The first problem I see is liquidity. If you put in $50K and I (the fund manager) use that towards buying a house, I can't just immediately give you back that $50K whenever you want it. Getting it back involves selling a house. Unless, of course, the fund has accumulated enough profit to cover your investment. But that's really not a huge issue. The fund would be targeted at long-term investors willing to let their investment sit for up to a year. It wouldn't be longer than a year because the rental leases would all be 12 months, maximum, so that there's an opportunity to sell the house(s) every 12 months. Ideally, the fund would own several houses with staggered leases so that one of them was available for sale every few months.

It's called an REIT.
>>
>>1487767
This.

Its not a bad idea though, you should look for middle-high class people who probably have money saved up but not enough to outright buy a home. Your biggest problem lies in convincing people to trust you with their savings.
>>
>>1487767
>>1487794
I knew it was too good of an idea for me to be the first to think of it. Oh well. Still, maybe there's a chance that no REIT exists in this area...

Guys I need to know, what are my chances to find a job as a trader if I'm a finance student with a low GPA (2.75)? It doesn't have to be a Goldman Sachs or any other big name firm, though I would really love to get into Deutsche Bank.

I've read about people making it without degrees, unrelated degrees, and low GPAs but I want to know if it's something that's somewhat within my reach or should I just accept that I'll never make it into the field I want and just work a boring dead end job in the finance department of whatever company.

I'm a year and a half from graduation so I don't think it's possible to raise my GPA to 3.0 at this point

>>
>>1487721
I always hear this but at least in my campus Goldman Sachs only looks for finance students, never anyone with programming backgrounds. Unless they are especifically looking for paper pushers here which wouldn't surprise me, its not like it's an ivy league or anything.

When I'm 30 and still feel not good enough for real jobs. If I want to retire by the age of 45 (I'm 22). What would be the best platform for saving, earning, and growing my assets? I am slowly building my stock portfolio (~1k USD) and want to move into real estate once I have over 20k USD. Is this a smart choice? What other options are out there? What literature or study would you suggest to help grow my worth?

Real estate is good but it's usually a long play.

I've personally found that selling services to big businesses and industry on a contract basis will let you make as much money in a year as most people make in a lifetime.

if you happen to be any good at it.

I recently just financed a chair at a furniture store to boost my credit and they just sent me a credit card with a 1,500 limit in the mail. am i to use this to payments somehow or can it be used for gas and things like that? pic unrelated, my pet squirrel

You should cut it up.

What is your squirrels name and pronouns?
>>
>>1487510
Her name is mischa

so its a bad idea to use it? I don't really need a credit card but if it will help my credit i wouldn't mind using it for gas and groceries. I heard if you pay it off right away it boosts your credit, which i could really use.
>>
>>1487516
also it doesn't seem to have a regular bank name on it, like visa, just the furniture stores logo, could i even use it to get gas anyway? I've read all the papers with it and it doesn't seem to say anything regarding that

Ok so this is maybe my thread attempt at one of these threads, last time I got shot down with a torrent of abuse about how I was trying to find "slaves" to work for me etc.

SO this time around I'm going to apply to your baser impulses: monetary reward.

To show I mean business, first post gets 0.1 BTC, all dubs get 0.05 BTC, and any good advice, in email or post form, will get 0.01-0.1 BTC.

My budget for this session is 1BTC.
Obvs please include a wallet address in your post.

Now as for the question:

I am currently a MSc Physics graduate, I've successfully paid off all my student debt and I've quit work with the assumption I'll be doing a PhD starting September 2017.

In the meantime I would like to create a blockchain to fill a very specific niche, it would not be a currency for trading, but would involve tokens that we can treat as if they are currency for developments sake. My uncle left me around a 600k inheritance, of which after tax and paying off debts I have 320k. 200k is now invested in ETFs and other low risk financial instruments. 120k has been set aside ENTIRELY to be spent on this project.

I have two other friends who think this is worth their time and money to invest in, one is a former google employee with a BSc in CompSci (albeit not much expertise in cryptography), the other is a PhD Economist with a strong background in Maths. I have lived with these people for four years and trust them totally, they are together contributing 40k.

My main questions are: how many more people am I likely to need? With my current budget, is an alpha version within a year remotely doable? What coin should I use as a jumping off point? Aside from Python and C++ what programming languages should we look to incorporate into our dev team? Where can we find skilled employees?

Cheers.

P.S. please wait up to 15 mins to receive your BTC.
