Sup /biz/. So I'm a HVAC technician. One thing I've observed in my work is how frequently manufacturers make unit that are designed to fail after a certain time
For example, there are parts that are fused so if one breaks you have to change out the whole system, or a part has a set amount of oil and once that oil runs out the part breaks down (and they don't make a fucking port to refill the oil)
So my question is, how can this even exist under capitalism? Isn't that what competition is for? To maximize efficiency? Since the firms are competing to make the best product and so always have pressure to improve?
Why then, is there no one that makes air conditioning or heating unit that is maximized to last. Because if they did, these units could last almost ten times longer than others and they'd beat out the competition. That what's capitalism is supposed to fucking do.
I can't help but think of all the time, money, and material that is being wasted by building these units that fail after 5 years when they could potentially last 30
>>1486479
>these units that fail after 5 years when they could potentially last 30
Why sell one unit that lasts 30 years when you can sell 6 units instead?
>>1486496
I know, but if a company made a unit that lasted 30 years, everyone would buy that, and they'd sell zero units
>>1486498
If all other things are equal, you can manufacture a unit that lasts five years (or until the 'extended warranty' is up) for far cheaper and with less oversight than you can guarantee a thirty year unit.
Hi /biz/
I have 20 000 euros in savings. I'm 25. What can I do to make this money grow ?

You're in the age demographic to place the money into relatively higher-risk investments, but that doesn't mean you should necessarily go day trading. Maybe relatively higher risk funds?

They invest your unsettled funds after a trade. It's also pretty basic software.
> When is it coming to my country?
Probably never. They only have plans on an Australian beta.
> It's been X days, why isn't my account verified yet?
If it takes more than 3 days, try emailing their support. They are very good.
> Is this the right place to pump and dump and/or shill a worthless stock?
No, go to stocktwats or suckingalpha (you'll find plenty of it here anyway, though)
> I hit sell when the stock was X.XX, but it actually sold at a lower price, am I being jewed?
No, that would actually be illegal. Robinhood graphs are just shit and only show you an average, not-really-realtime price. To get Bid/Ask prices and important things like candlestick graphs, you should use a more robust platform.
> Where can I get better charting or bid/ask?
thinkorswim is bretty gud if you want to go open a second account with real broker.
Otherwise you should be using stockcharts.com, finviz, or Yahoo/Google finance for your graphing in addition to Robinhood.

No, it's not applicable for limited margin accounts (instant), and if you don't have instant, RH won't let you buy with unsettled funds.

Yes, download an android emulator. Setup is extremely easy. http://www.memuplay.com/

>>1486388
you wont fuck up.. the only way for you to lose money is to constantly trade at a loss hundreds of times over and over again. which is very hard to do, you have to be literally retarded to lose all your money on polo. which thank goodness most of us arent
the only thing i fear about shitcoin daytrading is if a hack happens or an exit scam.. but so far, polo has been good
Also, what the fuck is this shit?
Look, I realize that the Robinhood general is good for the novice investors and all. But there should be enough of us that have graduated on towards actual brokerage houses that give us access to things like options, futures, and margin that we should have a place to talk about our more advanced strategies. I'd like to introduce the /RealBrokerGeneral/.
I'm going to be selling about 125 vertical puts of CHK for this week. The premium for puts on this is far out of proportion to what it should be, and the fact that it has a risk-reward ration of 1 to .43 blows my mind. I'm just gonna let Theta do its just on this one.

>>1486315
fine, I wish you well, sincerely.
I wouldn't write puts here though. I only write puts on recent deep pullbacks, so if it snaps back towards some short term mean or equilibrium you're not going to be assigned shares at a price that won't tolerate a 10% correction in the market or oil or something. For example, I would have written the shit out of CHK in May.
>inb4 hindsight 20/20

Does it make more sense financially to rent an apartment or own a condo?
>>1486297
depends how long you plan on living in it as well as what type of mortgage you can get and how the rental and sales markets are when you get in and out.
As a general rule assuming excellent credit, a 30 year mortgage and the current rental and sales economy in the US you'd want to stay put for 5-10 years just to break even on a condo.
I don't think you even pay any of the principle of the loan for the first 3 years, you're just paying interest and taxes.
In the long run, neither. Condos can be bad because of the hoa and renting, well, we all know that's highly subjective.
>>1486297
Never buy in an area you haven't rented in first, unless it's purely an investment
Is it possible to hide the human owner of a business entity, like a holding company for real estate, or is it a matter of public record?
>>1486280
it's pretty easy up to a certain size.
It's legally going to look like a trust any way you do it though. You might be the owner but if you can't prove that fact in court then anyone with their name on your paper could probably take the business from you.
>>1486286
>You might be the owner but if you can't prove that fact in court then anyone with their name on your paper could probably take the business from you.
How does that work?
>>1486289
Pretty easy.
Someone owns the business(es) according to your filings, and if that someone isn't you, whoever you named is the legal owner.
Personally I put my businesses in my wife's name, but then if she divorces me or tries to dispose of her business interests without my permission I have recourse in divorce court.
if you put your businesses in the name of someone you're not married to you'd have a hell of a problem if they decide to take them from you. The person whose name is on the filings is the owner by law, and they can do pretty much whatever they like with it.
How much money could I make if I could develop a method to give men whatever penis size they wanted (within limits - say, up to 15" x 8") and could definitely prove that it worked - and if I could patent it to ensure that the only competition was underground?
I'm a graduate student in the field of tissue engineering and I think we're getting fairly close to this being possible. I think it's something we may be able to do in ten years; so I'm wondering about the commercialisation potential. Lab-grown penises have already been created and tested in the animal model (rats and rabbits) and demonstrated to be fully functional (for both waste elimination and copulation), so this is not a far-fetched idea.
Please let me know your thoughts. Thanks.
You're talkin' Bill Gates money, man.
>>1486272
$10 000 per dick sounds reasonable. However, wouldn't letting people grow their own dicks be a better idea?
I'm thinking if you come up with some sort of "Grow at home kit", like when people grow weed in their wardrobes, just let them grow bigger dicks instead, I bet people would pay big money to grow their own dick. I'm thinking something like the picture I made.
Now down to business, if you get this to work I want at least 5% royalties and a free dick-kit.
It all depends on who you work for.
You're not a self employed researcher are you?
Whoever your employer is probably wants a cut, if not the whole pie.
I'm a PhD student and I've been told that for now whatever I develop belongs to me, but if I finish my PhD and start working as a professor or postdoc the university will own my work, but will probably give me a generous share when they sell them.

>>1486255
altcoin P&D is not illegal. do your research.
>>1486265
yes, I know.
do you think this is because:
1. Pump and Dump fraud is only a crime if you do it with something other than cryptos,
or
2. The SEC hasn't had time or need to write a law ffor cryptos yet.
?
because I can't think of any reason P&D is a felony with penny stocks but is perfectly ok with cryptos designes specifically for the sole purpose of defrauding investors.
Hi /biz/,
I'm writing an article about history of lending since middle age, and I need a good book to understand how it works today (fractional reserve, money multiplier, exchange and relation between lending bank and central bank etc.).
Preferably a springerlink book or something for scihub purpose...
Any advice?
Thanks

I'm sure a ton of trolls will respond, but some advice is greatly needed.
I'm 30 years old and don't seem to have much talent in anything. I'm good at everything, excellent at nothing. I have many interests but have never started a business and don't know how. I have good ideas for the Hydroponic industry that doesn't involve MJ, but I don't have the money to start it, not that I know the legalities to begin with.
I really enjoy writing, but don't know how to sell a movie script. Being an amateur, I know it is hard to break into, however, I'm not sure who I should even be talking to anymore. Big names refuse your work, small names won't pay, and the middle ground only works with "friends."
I've been trying to learn investing, but I can't tell if I'm not smart enough, or explanations/reading happens too slow for me to keep my attention.
Otherwise, I'm trying to learn Japanese and see if I can't become a translator, not that I would know how to market myself.
My goal is to either live and work in Japan (successfully, like no less than 80k a year successful) or to have a large property, big house, and to run my greenhouse ideas. No idea where I can find land that would be near a town that would support my business plan. I want to make money, travel, and be happy.
Brain is scattered, very stressed out. What do? Need some genuine advice here.
>>1486210
genuine advice:
a hydroponics innovation would seem to be the sort of thing you could build a small model of and run as proof-of-concept before applying for a patent and seeking venture capital to build and market it.
>>1486218
I've mulled this around, but not sure who to talk to about this. How do I go about getting the paperwork? Do I need an attorney? What kind?
>>1486226
You don't need anything. Just set it up. If it works, patent it. Patent lawyer can do that for a few hundred bucks.
I'm getting a new job soon. It's a near minimum wagecuck job, I don't have very much experience (I've worked a few minwage cuck jobs but not much)
I want to know how I can be the workplace bully and assert my dominance from the get-go and establish myself as the alpha male.
Any suggestions? how can I climb the ranks quickly, delegate my work to other plebians and just be the alpha male overall? How can I be assertive and have a commanding presence?

has anyone ever had a fully operational online business that you later outsourced completely or almost completely?
I've been building my online business for around 5 years now and its gotten pretty big. recently i realized i can increase the amount of work and profits i can bring on while decreasing workloads for myself via outsourcing various pieces of the job here and there
divy up the workloads so no single person understands the full scope to steal my business for himself while still being able to accomplish the required task easily without concern on my end
i'm currently working on hiring two people, one locally and another probably some non american online, which will basically automate 90% of my workload at a minor nearly nonmentional price compared to the profits in turn
im wondering if im missing some kind of flaw in the process, and while i realize i'm being very secretive about what my business is and not providing details, im wondering -
Has anyone else had an online business you try to outsource? Was it a successful migration? Did you discover any unexpected hickups?
great info /biz/
