"The plural of anecdote is not data."
What does this mean?
>>1491650
It means anecdotes are not data. Even if you have a whole bunch of anecdotes collected, it doesn't matter.

You want to get rich?
Filthy stinking rich?
You are in the wrong place.
I have read and studied the biographies of all billionaires alive.
protip: none of them made money staying in their comfort zone behind their screen on their chair watching anime.
They went out, did stuff, many times over and over, they didn't care what others thought about them, they worked their ass off, sold legal and illegal stuff, there's mafia, there's drugs, there's lots of corruption, it's a massive spider web, multiple groups competing against each other for their own interests, they don't have nations, they world is their country, some were assassinated for what they did, others thrown in jail for lifetimes. It's all global, from the Swiss Alps to the Palaces and Oil in Saudi Arabia to China Parliamentary democracy? Yeah right, Doesn't matter shit, it's a disgusting business, but the world is owned by billionaires and crafted by billionaires, states have no power except those mafia-states such as russia. it's money that matters, nutn else, it's a dirty business, but that's all there's to it

I'll read this later- mom is telling me tendies are almost ready.
>>1491549

My friends keep making fun of me because I've had two failed business ventures, will I be rich?
>h-hey mike..
>Heyyyy buddy! Hows it been?
>about that... I'm kinda in a shit right now. My ex wife squeezed me hard in the divorce so I can't keep up the monthly fee on my private jet. Reckon you could give me a non exec role at your Hedge fund?
>sure buddy! Anything for an old friend!
So is this how it normally works for rich people applying for jobs /biz/? Did I miss anything out?
Rich people don't work for an employer
>>1491531
yeah pretty much
>>1491535
lol riiiiiiight. keep trading those cryptos, you'll make it one day.
Ok /biz/,
I've researched everything there is about e-commerce, business, marketing but just cannot find a product I want to sell. I've literally looked over every listing in Amazon, Alibaba etc and just can't figure out what I could do. This has been preventing me from starting any venture for about a year now.
Everything seems to have been done to death. How the fuck do I find a good product that has good enough margins to sell, doesn't already have stupidly good competition, and is in sufficient enough demand? I'm truly lost.
I want to sell through my own website using Shopify if that helps, I like the creating of the brand aspect of things and really don't fancy doing FBA, ebay etc.
Help me /biz/, I just need help to figure out either
a) What to sell, or
b) How to find a good enough product that I can sell
>>1491515
Stop trying to find the perfect product, it doesn't exist. Just pick something people need and go with it.
>>1491521
I feel like I can't create anything better (wether that be product or brand) than is already out there being sold by huge companies.
For example let's go with jackets - Why would someone come to me over North Face, Canada Goose etc? Simply every marketing point has been picked up by the big guys which offers me little room to jump in and differentiate myself.
How can I not be another one of the 1000s of people that start a business in one of the saturated markets and fail within the first year?
>>1491530
It's not about creating things or being better than other companies, it's just about marketing.
Besides even if you don't get a sale for a year it's not like you've actually lost a substantial amount of money, like $20 tops.
How do I turn a natural talent for learning languages into a fat paycheck?
English is the only language I speak fluently but I'm not far off on Japanese and I have a basic knowledge of (and interest in) German, Russian, and French.
>>1491420
>natural talent for learning languages
>English is the only language I speak fluently
is this a joke?
>>1491436
The only real obstacle to fluency for me is anxiety, which I'm working on.
Grammar is easy for me.
as far as I know speaking chinese will give you a lot of attention in any company in the west. its a bitch to learn tho
How do I get a job at the Goldman Sachs? I don't know why I want to work there but just feel like its my calling. I don't have any work experience (coz I'm a NEET duh) but I think Goldman Sachs would really benefit from molding a soulless empty employee like me to whatever their liking. You know, like reformating a computer from scratch so its good as new.

That was you?
Bastard.
Hey /biz/, I wanna start a butcher shop that operates on self-serve checkout like in grocery stores. Ive done some research, and it seems most of the grocery stores in my area do thousands of dollars in business a day just off of their meat department which they could operate off of just 3-4 certified meat cutters at any one time.
Thoughts from anyone with experience in the food service/butcher business? I was a meat clerk for two years (not meat cutter)
>>1491260
sounds feasible. i'd like to 'meat' you. not really tho.
>>1491289
>not really tho
Please explain how your store concept works from the moment the customer walks through your door and the moment they walk out

> How is it free?
They invest your unsettled funds after a trade. It's also pretty basic software.
> When is it coming to my country?
Probably never. They only have plans on an Australian beta.
> It's been X days, why isn't my account verified yet?
If it takes more than 3 days, try emailing their support. They are very good.
> Is this the right place to pump and dump and/or shill a worthless stock?
No, go to stocktwats or suckingalpha (you'll find plenty of it here anyway, though)
> I hit sell when the stock was X.XX, but it actually sold at a lower price, am I being jewed?
No, that would actually be illegal. Robinhood graphs are just shit and only show you an average, not-really-realtime price. To get Bid/Ask prices and important things like candlestick graphs, you should use a more robust platform.
> Where can I get better charting or bid/ask?
thinkorswim is bretty gud if you want to go open a second account with real broker.
Otherwise you should be using stockcharts.com, finviz, or Yahoo/Google finance for your graphing in addition to Robinhood.

> If I have Robinhood do I need to worry about 'Free Riding' violations?
No, it's not applicable for limited margin accounts (instant), and if you don't have instant, RH won't let you buy with unsettled funds.
> Can I use Robinhood on my PC?
Yes, download an android emulator. Setup is extremely easy. http://www.memuplay.com/

Is there any good virtual trading simulator? Are they realistic? Might be a good option for no experienced people before going in on the markets with real money.
a stock goes down 356% in virtual portfolio
who gives a shit, you can't simulate trading without the stress of winning or losing real money

How is it made then, Mr NEET prime, hmm??
>>1490973
I've made $2000 buying meme stocks so far. There are heaps of penny stocks that grow 30-50% in a matter of days/weeks, you just have to get them at the right time.

If you don't know anything about it watch this small video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k4MhC5tcEv0
Sum it up OP. What the fuck is this guys main point. That video was unwatchable.
>>1490967
Taleb is based.
>>1491311
so his main idea is that there is a metric nobody uses:
Fragile: you lose once it gets bumpy. (for example big banks)
Robust: you can survive volatility/bumpyness.
And Antifragility: You win when shit hits the fan.
And his overall main point from the previous books(The Black Swan, for example) is that the future is far less predictable than we think. So we should not try to guess what the future will be, but instead try to prepare for shit hitting the fan.
His more famous book The Black Swan was released during the financial crisis when he made a shitton of money following his own logic.
He didnt prepare for one certain thing to crash, he prepared for high volatility and won big.
Can you sell memes? How much money did that guy make off his rare pepe store?
