I'm such a fucking idiot, /an/.
While going away for vacation I arranged so that my pet bunnies would be taken care of by a local veterinarian.
I got back yesterday and was informed that one of them was dead. The vet gave me a letter explaining how he had far progressed tooth problems and had been suffering for a long time.
The worst part is that I had noticed him getting thinner and more apathetic but even then not thinking about having him checked out.
Now I'm just sitting here crying and I don't know what to do. The climate is very cold and dark, and I'm afraid I might make the same mistake by keeping his brother outside, since I can't see him very well in the dark nor spend enough time with him because of the cold.

Can a bunny learn to adapt to the inside? How do I learn to know when something is wrong with a bunny?

I'm sorry for the long rambling post, I'm ashamed for letting something like this happen.

What the fuck how was it eating? I would hve thought a rabbit would have starved long before that point
>>
>>2032570
The picture is just from google, in my case it seemed eating was more painful than impossible.
>>
>>2032566
So you left your bunnies outside, despite every owner of a house rabbit stating that they are easily made indoor animals and even enjoy indoor life because they are perfectly safe in a home? And instead of getting a check up on the weakened one, or even bothering to learn to do basic groom and checks on them, you just said fuck it and left for vacation?

Nah, you're an idiot and the other one is probably going to die in less than a year.

Kitten used as chew toy undergoes emergency surgery
Never autoplay videos
An 8-week-old kitten, who was rescued after being dyed purple and used as a chew toy for a larger animal, is recovering after he had emergency surgery in California during the weekend.

>The kitten, weighing less than two pounds and nicknamed “Smurf” because of his purple-blue hue, needed abdominal surgery, Fox 2 reported. Smurf, who was brought to a San Jose shelter on Dec. 28 with about 20 bite marks and deep wounds on his body, will likely require several weeks for a full recovery and may be ready for adoption in three months or so, veterinarian Monica Rudiger said.

This is fucked up. I hope that little guy is treated like a king for the rest of its life.

How does pitbulls lock their jaws?

Any other animals that do the same? Can't find much info about it
38 posts and 3 images submitted.
>>
They don't. It's a myth. No dogs have special "locking jaws."

They're just breed for tenacity and to hold their bite.
>>
>>2031988
Correction. They were bred for their athletic abilties. That's why they use to be used during wars.

Hey guys, how goes your ant keeping?

Have you started hibernating your ants yet? If not you're a shitlord.

How was your season? For those with tropical ants, how is it going so far?

Here is my Camponotus Pennsylvanicus colony I have had since the spring. Caught the queen in my back yard. This picture is from a while ago, and I have more.

So far she is up to 50-60 workers, and about 30 larvae in diapause. Just put them in the basement this weekend. Will probably take them out towards the end of February.

This is the outworld I purchased with the nest, i think it's 4x4x8 if i remember correctly. It's a neat little set up. All these pics are before August this year, haven't taken any new ones yet, unfortunately.

At first I would feed them honey and insects I found around the yard. Mostly grass spiders and daddy long legs(which they seemed to absolutely love). After I bought fruit flies which worked until they all died off. Then I purchased Repti-worms, which is annoying to cut in half. Will probably try crickets or super worms this next spring.

Noticed this weird thing on my dad's 5 year old golden retriever this morning. It's stiff like a scab but extends like 2 cm out of a scab near his ear. What the fuck is it?

We were out at our uncle's cabin last weekend that had a small farm on the grounds - horses, chickens & cows. Could it be some kind of parasite?

I've set an appointment for the vet on Saturday, was needing a shot anyway.

So my mate who lives at mine with my mum got a pair of hamsters and one of our two dogs keeps whining behind his room door and barking. My mum and mate say "it's fine, she's excited there's new animals."

Well, I personally think the dog's instincts are setting in and she views them as a threat in our own home. She's a shih szu (not stereotypical of being dangerous) but keeps walking around with her tail down, whining at all of us. When she was in front of the hamster cage on the bed she followed the hamsters with her eyes and had an occasional growl and clawed the cage then I think she tried to burrow her head under the cage to knock it off the bed.

But I'm no veterinarian and I feel an experienced or expert opinion is best. So what'd you guys have to say? Is this a sign of something bad or is she just getting used to there being two new tiny faces?

Prey drive.
Your dog considers the hamsters to be good sport / meal.
>>
I once saw a little girl show her dog her new hamster. Before I could get to them in time, that hamster was sucked down the rotties throat faster than piece of ham.

Some dogs are okay with small animals. My Aussie cat tale dog thinks my guinea pugs are puppies or something and will corral them between his arms and just lick them and eat their little poops like they are living candy dispensers

My border collie absolutely loves my rats, she is very gentle and kind with them. The rats will groom her face and paws. It's so cute. Pic related.

Hamsters are a lot more fearful than rats though. I've had both as pets. Your hammy might bite your dog or have a heart attack from fright.

What breeds need winter jackets or clothing for walks in winter?

I have an American foxhound, I assumed he was an all weather outdoors dog sense hunters often house them completely outside.

It's below freezing here and I notice that his ears get extremely cold and he shake them as soon as he gets in and wants me to just rub them. Do dogs with long floppy ears need earmuffs or something?

Depends. I have a small dog who has a winter jacket. When it snows I put on his boots too because everyone here uses salt on the sidewalks and plow trucks spray salt on the street. Without his booties his feet get really cold from the water from the salt melted snow and het gets small to large pieces of salt stuck to them too. He needs his booties and jacket.

I can't stand ferrets. After working in a pet store that had ferrets and also bearing witness to "ferret people" I only hate them all the more. Something about them just pisses me off. They're fucking annoying. Cute as very young babies because they have some semblance of chill but once they get a few more weeks old they're just obnoxious little shits. I remember I'd be cleaning out their disgusting litter box and they would leap onto the scooper, into their own fresh shit, trying to climb up my arm and bite me. They'd rip open the doggy bag full of their own shit and piss-soaked litter when I was trying to remove it from the cage and get it all over themselves and not even care, just blindly continuing to leap at me because they wanted to play. Not like they didn't already have a shitton of toys and hammocks and crap everywhere. Then they'd bite and scratch as I tried to clean up the fucking nasty mess they'd just made. DUMBASS FERRETS.

Plus they don't seem to form a connection with their owners at all. They couldn't give a shit less who owns them, only that they can be entertained wherever they are. That and they're so fucking dumb they'll just walk off huge ledges and fall. Useless animals. God I fucking hate ferrets.

where do dogs poop? cats poop in litter boxes, but what about dogs? my parents had a dog when i was a kid and it pooped outside in the lawn on the side of the house. but what about people with dogs without lawns, like apartment dwellers? can dogs be litter trained like cats? thank you for answering my questions.

Dogs can be litter trained, and no, you don't want to do that.

I live in an apartment, and my dog shits very much outside only, thank you very much. And if she's ever ill and really has to go inside, she'll feel worse than me about it.
>>

>no, you don't want to do that.

I just take my dog outside. Of course, because it's not your lawn you should pick it up immediately. Some people use litter boxes, but usually use paper litter instead of the sandy stuff. There is also potty pads and fake grass pads to put inside. I'm not really sure how you're supposed to clean the grass pads though.

What kind of fish is this? I apologize for the crappy picture. It was at my LFS that is constantly getting new and different things and the labels on the tanks are wrong more often than not. It's clearly not "Brochis cat" because that's a type of cory.

I asked the employee and but he said that he didn't know, he had just gotten back from vacation and they were new. The owner was not in at the moment.

At first glance i thought that they were raphaels because of the stripes but the body shape is all wrong. They're about 3"-4" long, were snacking (or at least appeared to be snacking) on the algae on the plants and and fairly active. So active in fact that I couldn't get a decent picture of the little guys. They were being housed with discus.
