my dog has had diarrhea for almost 3 days. how should i treat her?
honestly you should probably just leave her in the woods, dogs are pretty cheap.
Since its been more than 3 days you take her to a vet or call up a vet and ask what you can do.
Most suggest a bland diet and no wet food until their stools become solid again.

What's your stance on adopting an older dog? I'm looking into adopting my first dog, and all of the ones I'm interested in are like 5 to 7 years old medium to large size mutts, which just about pegs them as senior dogs. Personally, I'd love to adopt one of them, but I've been told that vet bills skyrocket with senior dogs.
I love older dogs. They get so lazy and snuggly. Sometimes they have health issues but sometimes not, just like with younger dogs.
i saw a german tv show lately which stated that the average dog is 6600€ in veterinarian stuff in his lifetime.
In total a dog is about 13-14000 € with all expenses. (always thought they were much cheaper.)

I've been advised to get a first dog that's past the puppy stage but before it's a senior, so about 3-4 years. Dogs get old eventually, but I think their logic is that if I got a younger one I'd have a longer time with the dog before I'm swamped in vet bills

So I have no /an/ related pictures, but my gf introduced the idea that my new dog may have been a service dog at one point.
Are there any ways to test for it, or to see if she just has crazy separation anxiety and needs to be a foot away from me at all times?
Why do you think she used to be a service dog, first off? Because of her separation anxiety? Then no. A trained service dog would not have that anxiety. Service dogs are extensively trained to handle stressful situations, act calm and appropriate.

it was an idea introduced by my gf and I'm pretty drunk

I have a 10 year old cat (pic) that has lived with other cats all her life, until 6 months ago when our other cat had to be put down.
We got a kitten last week and our older cat's reaction is totally unexpected.
Upon spotting the kitten she will hiss and do that low yowling they do when they're threatened but she won't attack. I suspect shes also spraying.
I get that eventually she'll stop being so autistic and get used to the kitten but in the mean time she's scaring the kitten at what I believe may be a vital point in the kitten's development
Im also worried that this will damage their relationship long term, as lately we have been too busy to pay attention to our older cat and she gets lonely, so we figured we'd get another cat to accompany her.
The kitten really wants to play with our older cat but our older cat is being such a shit about it.
What are some tactics I can use to stop our older cat from behaving like this /an/
Unfortunately anon the best thing will be to just wait. Cats behave like this many times but then they realize that the newcomer isn't a threat and become friends with him.
I have two cats now and my older one behaved like this when we got the other yet now he can't live without him. Whenever the other runs away he's nervous til he comes back and even if the other steals his food he doesn't do anything to him and even purrs sometimes.
When he'll get used I assure you he's gonna love him.

Thanks anon, ill try to keep a business as usual approach, keep feeding them together as much as I can and establish special places for each cat
Cats aren't dogs. A new kitten is isn't gonna "liven up ol' Bessie." It's just annoying when the last thing your old cat wants to do is play or deal with a rambunctous little brat. Let the old thing live the rest of its life in peace and then get a new kitten.

Why do people put bridles on baby horses?
To get them used to it and be able to lead them.
>>2031677
Perhaps to start getting them used to it, or in order to lead them with a teather? Though I know nothing about horses.
Easier to lead the foal around and generally become more used to bridle and interaction through the bridle
Starting a 10 gal terrarium mostly for the plants right now. Moss Terrarium and just wondering if there's anything that can live comfortably in such a small tank?

Whats the water leveland wil you have a filter?
If so you can probally have shrimp some snails and maybe a few small tetras like a group of three-five.

Hey, I'm bit new on this board, but it would be nice if you guys would help me out.
I'm looking to buy a Czechoslovakian Wolfdog. It doesn't have to be pure breed, but I would like a dog that resembles him as much as possible.
I've only saw people selling puppies for 500 EUR, and I don't have that kind of money.
I could shill out maximally 100 EUR for the little guy.
If anybody who lives in Slovakia, or nearby, ( or knows a place that could ship me one) could tell me where I could get one for about 100 EUR, I would be most thankful.
(I'll leave this thread going for a day, and then come back. Thanks everybody)
>>2030474
Basically "I want a very specific breed of a dog for very little money" good luck m8
If you can't save up 500 euros, then there's no way you could pay for the vet bills for a medical emergency. I'm not even sure if could pay for food and routine shots and yearly checkups for him. One large dog costs at least $50 a month to feed I the US.
It's cool that you want a dog. But at the moment, you do not have the proper means to take care of one. So if you truly do love them, please make the right decision and wait until you are in a better place financially.
>>2030479
What they said. Big dogs are expensive. How can you afford to take care of them properly if you can't even pay the 500?

Mutts are by far the most underrated dogs. No exceptions.
So cute and I normally don't like small dogs.
>>2027692
Mutts are awesome, but they aren't always better. My own dog is a bully and lab mix and she's starting to show health problems at a year and a half. Her knees point away from her body and she has a very pronounced limp caused by this when she jogs. Her back end also seems higher than her shoulders, her eyes are sort of cross eyed/go opposite directioms slightly, and Im pretty sure her sense of smell is crap.
Don't get deluded by that old myth of mutts being healthier. Well bred dogs are healthy, purebred or otherwise.
I got a leopard gecko from someone who neglected the fuck out of it. There was a dead one in the cage with the barely living one. I gave the barley living lizard water and hes moving and stuff but hes still skinny as fuck and I wanted to feed him but all the pet stores are closed. Is there anything I can give him that isn't live insects ? just to hold him over? guy said he hasn't eaten in like months hes super skinny
I forgot to say, I obviously got the dead one out and cleaned the tank out and shit
Self bump for help please

So, a bit of backstory. I'm a male with slight tinnitus, only bothers me when drunk and trying to sleep. My girlfriend and I moved to a new apartment and got a dog, a short coated chihuahua. After a while I noticed a high pitched sound when I laid down in bed.
At first I thought it was tinnitus but that was quickly dismissed as it went away when I turned my head slightly. It was a pretty low tolerance on angle before it went away. Made sense to think it was coilwhine from a powersupply or something and again I dismissed it. Then this evening I laid down on the sofa next to our dog and the sound was there again. The motherfucker is the source of the sound, and after some studying I figured it came from his left ear, my gorlfriend had never heard it before but when I told her to listen to the dogs left ear she heard it too.
In order to fully rid myself of makebelieve I dowbloaded a sound analyzer and while I sort of doubt the accuracy of the frequence (it sounds more like a 13KHz sound), it's still damn obvious that something is there. The first image here is from backround noise with the mic held to the right ear of the dog. Looks fine? Give me a few seconds and I'll post the left ear audio.
This is the left ear. The oddity should be obvious. Any idea of what this could be? Starting to think my dog may be from outer space, or mayve partly robotic.
Also, I know there are some spelling mistakes, apologies for that. wrote this on my phone and didn't think of correcting the thing before posting.
So the right ear of your dog is making a 10kHz whine?
Associated with breathing? Intermittent?

I have a bookshelf in my room that I don't use 3-4 shelves on and I've been thinking about getting a snake for awhile now. So here's what I'm proposing.
Each little "Cubicle" in this thing is about 36in wide,12in tall, and 12in deep.
If I were to add vents and access ports to each shelf do you think I could link all 3 shelves together with some clear tubing (and rough up the inside for snake to have traction) and have each of them have a different purpose (top is hot for basking, middle has the hide and some other general snake things and the bottom has the water and other snake stuff in it) do you think the snake would figure this out? Or should I just buy a basic snake Inclosure and spend $200?
I should also note that I am only looking to house a cornsnake in it.
