Weird question but are there any dog breeds that are notoriously quiet? I don't mean just barking. I kind of hate dog-noises, like whining and the weird heavy breathing a lot of them do. I'm used to cats. Most of the dogs I've met who were quiet were just like that as individuals so I'm not sure if there's any breeds that are more inclined to not make sounds.

You can just have their voice boxes removed.

Why do you want a dog if you hate dog-noises?
Just take another cat if you're used to them.

Well my wife and I are in the market for something her daughter can exercise with, and the cat is a no-go. I also want a quiet pup because the neighborhood we live in is full of angry, old people

You should deprive it of human contact, and kick it really hard every time you visit it to feed it.

It's pretty barren. My back yard is just an empty backyard with 2 trees and then a small concrete pad at my back door. I don't know where he goes when it's not day, but at the other end of the back yard is like a swampy nature preserve so I imagine back there somewhere.

I leave the porch light on at night to attract bugs for him to eat

I love toads. That guy looks cool but he's really thin! If you want to you should keep him as a pet or something.

Discuss anything aquarium related here, including inhabitants, decor and issues.

Google is your friend.
Feel free to ask questions but know that there are a lot of resources out there that could answer your question a lot faster and accurately than /an/.

Make sure to include these things in your post before asking because we can't help you if we don't have the full picture:
-tank size
-parameters
-any and all inhabitants + how long you've had them

Boston terrible x pug
Yes you read that right.
2 sisters are looking for a forever home.
A little about them they are 3 years old pug × Boston terrier
we adopted them a couple months ago from a family who could not longer take care of them.
They are very loving and if they could they would want all your attention...all the time.
They have some obedience issues that we have noticed we have been trying to work on.
1) pulling on the leash during walks
2) barking (they seem to like to bark and other dogs passing by)
3)Garbage ( unfortunately they like to dig in the garbage) we have not fed them human food since being with us.
Regardless of the issues that they have, I love these two so much and it kills me to put them up for adoption but being transferred to a different country has not given me much of a choice.
So If you are willing to take these two loving girls on regardless of their obedience issues I would love to hear from you and set up a time to meet.
$1000 for the pair
Includes 2 individual crates and 1 other crate they can share and a doggy stroller that fits them both

>pls take my mutts that are poorly trained and have behavioural problems
>$1000

Question...whats with cockroaches and apartments/hotels? Why do they only go to those? Do they have a problem with home owners?
2 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
You can treat a whole house pretty effectively, but it's extremely difficult to effectively treat a whole apartment complex all at the same time. So roaches will migrate from treated to untreated areas, until the treatments wear off and they wander back to your apartment.

Is it possible for a dog to be retarded? They're pretty fucking stupid to begin with. Are all animals inherently retarded? Can brain damage effect them at all, or are they already too retarded to become any worse?

I know it is said that animals reduce anxiety and stress...But I am having the opposite reaction after adopting a cat.

Some background: I work at an animal hospital, am 23, and have never owned a pet before a few days ago. This cat was abandoned at the front door of my workplace almost 5 years ago, before I started working there. He will be 6 in April.

Although he has only been at my house for a few days, I have known the cat for about a year, and we have grown close over my time working at this animal hospital, which is why I thought it might be a good idea to adopt him.

He is a terrific cat...But for some reason I am just unhappy having him around. I used to be happy when he greeted me at work, and I would rub his belly and hug him and all that stuff. But ever since he came home, all I do is think about where he is in my house and what me might be doing or getting into, especially at night. And it's not fun for me...And every time I think I hear a meow, or when he actually does meow from some location in my house, I get nervous and have to investigate, even though it's nothing.

I am thinking about bringing him back to my workplace, where he does have free roam for half the day until he is caged at night. But I know I will feel terrible about that...I feel terrible about this dilemma already...

Has anyone else had a reaction like this to owning a pet for the first time? I love cats and dogs...But I am beginning to think that I am just not psychologically cut-out for ownership...

It sounds like you're just ridiculously anxious.

Do you have a partner?

Also...you work in an animal hospital...but don't have pets??
>>
It's because it's something new in your life anon. You've not adjusted and it's making you stressed/anxious. It's normal, don't worry about in. In a few weeks you'll be fawning over this cat. Give it time.
