So, my 9 month old cat has a fatal disease. It's called FIP. Just went to the vet and found out today. They still have to run blood tests but the vet is very experienced and this disease is rare and has obvious, unique symptoms so it's definitely that. He hasn't really eaten for 2 weeks yet his belly is all bloated and his fur isnt shiny and soft like it used to be. Today and yesterdag, I found him in the cathouse I got him that hes NEVER used. He refused to come out for a while. I think he is picking this place to die. I'm fucking broken. If anyone has any personal experience with FIP, any sort of remedy that worked, please share. I can't handle this.

No cat general thread? Well here's one to mine who passed away this morning.

He wasn't the most social or cuddly and all in a human way, but I know he did like to be around his pack. I'll fucking miss him.

sorry about your loss OP :( it's never easy to lose them

pic of my kitty. 3 years old but stopped growing when she was a just about five pounds. vet said she's healthy, just tiny. there used to be a hoarder that lived near my HS and never spayed his cats, so he had litters all the time and would go to the park next to campus during lunch and give away week old kittens to highschool kids..... my idiot "friend" took one and called me when she got home cause she couldn't care for her. I meant to bring her to the shelter, but got so attached I kept her

sorry for your loss, he is a stud. rest easy sweet prince.

this is my cat pudding, she is 2 years old but like the above anon, pudding stopped growing after the 5th month. I rescued her from my friend's backyard in mexico, she was a newborn stray. she is now a spoiled american citizen who sleeps on my bed with me.

Can anyone explain what caused this to happen? I took the pic behind a glass window at the subway station and the pigeon(?) is laying on a ledge and the pavement you see above is actually the road which is like 1 story down below so nobody could have done this to it.

birb probably died on the ledge there, natural causes. then it snowed.

I had a mice problem last week, caught em with glue traps, and killed almost 5 of them. havent seen any this week.

I drowned one in hot spinning water, thought that wasnt too bad. I tried using the edge of a slab of wood to crush the next one in the backyard, i missed its head and completely flattened its bottom half and i quickly smashed its head a couple times to end its pain quick. I vowed to never do that again.

I caught the third and fourth in one trap and tried something different, more humane. I wrapped them in a paper towel, put them in a ziplock bag, and found a 30lb dumbell and squashed them. The last one my little brother wanted to let it free so I spared it. We went to the mountain and released it with olive oil. Coyotes would probably ate it by now.

This is a bad idea in general, but you really really do not want a wild caught mammal as a pet unless you're finding a newborn or something.
>>
>>2041295
This, adults usually die from stress and there's also the risk of disease. Unless its sick or young and abandoned, its a dumb idea to keep a wild animal. Even then its better to contact a wildlife rehab then to care for it yourself, unless you have some experience.

Hey /an/

What would be the best way of introducing an 8 week puppy to a 12 years old cat ?
I've got a puppy-proof kitchen and a crate.
I was thinking about confining the puppy in the kitchen for the first few days, except when walking him or playing with him of course.
Then maybe let the cat come into the kitchen while the puppy is in his crate, and go from there.

I'm guessing progressively increasing interaction is the way to go, is it ?

Any tip, advice or experience is welcome

Thanks

It depends on the personality of the cat, but I think you're on the right track
We had a similar situation, had to get a kitten to warm up to a six month old black lab pit mix and an old shihzu mix
We just kept him in our laps and let them sniff him at first, then we would lay him with them while they were sleeping and let them walk up to him while he was on the floor
At first he got pissed and stood there or just ran, but after only two months he was laying next to the old one on his own and he plays with both of them enthusiastically
I wish you the best of luck! Cats and dogs being friends is damn adorable
>>
Cats and dogs will never like each other, only tolerate. A cat that old is not even going to like a new cat, let alone a puppy.

Bison have a little bit of an edge when it comes to weight so i'm giving it to them. not sure who has the edge when it comes to horns, sure the Cape buffalo's horns are bigger but they kinda curve over, looks like the bison horns have more stabbing potential. Either way I bet it would be a close match

Ralph the Cat lived to be 19 years, 11 months, despite having been shot through the brain with a pellet and having his eye put out with it.

He was always crazy, but a cuddle bug at times

I have the same problem. I'm absolutely going to get her spayed. I was going to anyways, I just thought I had more time before her first heat would kick in. My understanding is that you really shouldn't do it until after the heat. In the meantime, is there anything I can do? I've never had a cat in heat before and I'm not sure how to handle this. Do I just wait it out, or is there some kind of food or medicine I can give her to help calm her down?

Why do you think there are such considerably little domesticated vegetable-producing forms of asteraceae plants despite the size of the family as compared to one like brassicaceae that has all sorts of very economically important varieties in the modern day?

Hi, /an/. I am kind of getting into small carnivorous/omnivorous mammals, even though I was kind of a reptile/fish/bird guy before. I am really interested in keeping a ferret, opossum or something up that alley. Are there any good beginner choices?
It should be a bit forgiving of mistakes, shouldn't mind being handled (can be cuddly as well) and it has to be available in Germany, or at least the Netherlands.

four eyed opossums and etc will be about the easiest.
You don't want a stoat/weasel, they can be kept as pets but are like fucking flubber 24/7 and supposedly never stop biting constantly when they play

Stoat/weasel wasn't really on my list anyway, I think I'd need a special permit to keep those.
Four eyed opossum however is a pretty good idea. Do you happen to know any breeders or stores that have them ?
My picks are a short-tailed or a Virginia opossum, a ferret or maybe (and a big maybe at that) a genet.

Hello /an/
Since some months my lemon tree has some orange fruits on it.
They look like oranges but with much less water.

Anybody knows whats happening?

there's like 20+ possible causes, but they're probably just over-ripened.

is this the first time it's carrying fruit?
>>
>>2041315
No. The lemon tree is about 15 years old and always had lemons on it in past years. The orange fruits happen regulary last time.
