I found this birb on the floor inside the other day and it wouldn't stop following me around for ages.
It didn't seem to mind being picked up or anything. It wasn't injured either.
I put it on a tree 50 metres from the property and it straight away flew right back to my veranda.

Eventually my stupid friends put it in their car while I wasn't there and drove it to some beach like 20 minutes away because
>eww birds are somehow so much more gross and dirty than any other animal
>its so annoying because it keeps walking inside
Even though they could have just shut the door.

What kind of bird is it?
And why was it so friendly? I'm sure it wasn't domesticated.

On a more serious note, you should explain her symptoms. Like, does it itch? Does she bite at it? Painful?

Found this weird worm/larva/leech in my lily pond while cleaning out oak/maple leaf sludge. It was pretty cold when I found this guy, which may be why it wasn’t wiggling much or anything. It is grayish in color, and roughly an inch and a half long. There appears to be teeth/anchors on that face-like… part, and I have no clue what those dark spots are.
Seriously, what the hell is this thing?

Guppies in aquarium have ick. Aquarium also has ten week old guppies in it who are showing signs of ick. Temperature is at 78 degrees I read that helps.

What are your experiences with this Protozoa shitstorm? How should I treat ? There are thousands of little gooey clear white string things sticking to everything in the tank.

Allowed for public and private... It's a decent hobby.

I have a fox skull at home from a taxidermist years ago and I still refer to it when i'm drawing foxes.

Would it be unwise to get a very active dog breed like pic related if I live in an urban area?
I live in Chicago, and while there are plenty of dog parks and even a dog beach, would the dog be satisfied with living in an urban area? I also make regular trips (1 or 2 weekends a month) to Michigan, which allows for stimulating activities like long hikes etc.

I think Dalmations have some of the worst eyesight of all dog breeds, and need to be exercised daily and explore. As long as you walk it daily and live in a place that has enough space for it to roam, it should be fine. I know there is a theory about the size of dogs and spaces they live in like a form of claustrophobia, so some people that live in apartments don't get big dogs, but I had a black lab and lived in a two room apartment and he was fine for the years we were there, and that was in Washington D.C. so you should be ok with a Dalmation.

Looks like a ball python morph.
Anyways best snake is either a corn or a ball python, you'll probably have more luck with a ball python.
>>
>>2047799
that appears to be a blue eyed leucistic ball python. it is an expensive morph of the regular ball python.

snake recommendations for beginners; I recommend colubrids (corns, milks, kings) or the small boids (rosy boa, kenyan sand boa). ball pythons are kinda fussy to deal with for a first snake because of their humidity requirements and also their feeding reluctance.
>>
>>2047806
It's funny my biggest bally gets weird about food here and there, but if he doesn't take it my littlest ball python will eat it, he'll eat anything, I've given him a small rat and then when the bigger one didn't eat his rat I gave it to the little one and he ate it right away.

So, you have to build a mini zoo as an attraction for your city. You must exhibit five different animal species of any kind (including extinct ones), with at least one bird, one reptile and one mammal. The other two can be whatever you want. They all will be friendly to you and will never attack you.
Which animals would you exhibit?

Does a cassowary count as a dinosaur/reptile/bird?
>>
three cats, a chicken and a snapping turtle
>>
>including extinct ones

the terror bird, the short-faced bear, an assortment of velociraptors, the titanoboa, and a smilodon.

I'll make gazillions of dollars due to the fact that they're all extinct. then I will be detained by the government for questioning as to how I obtained these extinct animals. then I will pay off the government with about half of my gazillions of dollars and retire with the short-faced bear in the Rockies and live a carefree NEET life. there will be a buddy comedy made about me and the short-faced bear sometime later, providing a hilarious but very condensed account of my detainment with the government and how the short-faced bear learned to live and love in the modern world.

Is keying literally the deadest art (science) in biology?

I think I like the idea of keying as a career, or part time research position, but isn't dna coding making these jobs completely redundant?

1. i'm from Washington state so i dont know where i can get my hands on any. (standard pet stores say its illegal to stock them, so if there are any salamander enthusiasts in Washington on /an/ right now i would love to here where you got yours)
2. i only have experience with reptiles, i have a 3 year old bearded dragon, so if i can get some advice on keeping amphibians in general i would appreciate it.

Pretty sure they aren't illegal. But there's a ban coming soon to the USA (on the 28th I think) and imports from non native animals and inter state trade will be banned. So try to find someone in your state who breeds salamanders, and go from there I guess; you won't have luck in any other way.

How does owning spiders compare to owning similar size small pets, like a rat? When I was a kid my mothers friend had a tarantula and I thought it was kickass but, unlike most pets what do you DO with them. You can't really train them, you just kinda, look at them and feed them till they die? What is the appeal vs a pet that's more 'interactive'? Also waiting for arthropodmale to show up

If I may ask, are spiders studied in Entomology at all?
I know there's also Arachnology but I keep seeing some places where spiders are studied under it
