Cat is young with claws that come to molecular points.
She snagged a claw in my foreskin, then tried to jump off the bed when I flailed.

Hey /an/ I just got a new betta fish and I can't get him to eat. I think it might be due to stress in his temporary living conditions, so i'm going out today to get him bigger living conditions.
Anyways, what do you feed your betta? Pic related, it's what i'm trying to get him to eat.

Somstimes people use paracetamol on elderly atritis dog to soften the pain. This is about quarter or half a tab for them. Your dog will probably just have diarrea. Call vet

We just adopted a 9 week old lab puppy, and have been trying to get her used to a crate. We read up and have picked a good size and have been praising her for entering the crate and giving her small sessions in there, placing treats to encourage her entering.

Everyone seems mixed about how to go about doing this method, though. What's your opinion on this process? Do I keep encouraging her to enter with treats, or just keep placing her in there over the course of the day until she's used to it? Or should I do another process altogether? She's been taking naps in there sometimes when I move her in and she's too tired to move, but I'm not sure how helpful that is

my fiance saw it at the shelter, and we wanted a big dog. We already have a small German spitz, but he was easy as fuck to train and never needed a crate

I have a spare 3 gallon tank and finally have spare money at the same time to pay for something to put it in. I'm pretty into inverts and feel bad keeping something like a reptile in a box anyway. I'm trying to decide between something like a mantis/tarantula/scorpion/whip scorpion/centipede. Which do you consider the most interesting to own and least likely to just hide under a rock the whole time?
25 posts and 9 images submitted.
>>
>>2093636
All of those are going to be likely to hide under rocks, save if you have a preferred low lighted environment for them. Mantises will forage around more than the others, however. an emperor scorpion can be fun to show off and handle if you enjoy that kind of interaction, plus, you can use a blacklight in the dark and watch them come out and glow.
>>
>>2093643
Yeah I was kind of leaning toward a bigger scorpion, but I feel like it would be more fun to watch a mantis or a whip scorpion feed. I assume all have similar spans or a year or two? I could actually do my own research but.
>>
>>2093648
Not that guy but I have a whip. They are nocturnal and total bitches about light. I probably only witness 10 percent of her feeding. Shes basically a pet rock 2.0 lol

im going to go see a one year old Rhodie Ridgeback pup tomorrow and was wondering what things I should consider before adopting a Rhodie.

I know some of the fundamentals such as their lifespan, health concerns and general traits. in addition I know they need a lot of exercise and would certainly require training.

But I was wondering what other things im getting into in adopting a Rhodie that I might not be initially aware of.

I thought I had a rhodie mix for a while (but the WP says rottie mix...pic related lol) so at the dog park I frequently found myself chatting up the purebred rhodie people-- there's a couple breeders in the area so there's several regulars. One thing they all seem to have in common is that their dogs are not trustworthy off leash. I've seen tons of youtube vids with rhodesians out and about w/o leashes so maybe it's a training thing. Also, all the ones I've met have a pretty high prey drive and like to play rough. Cool dogs tho.
>>
>>2093613
cheers, yeah i've heard of their prey drive and im gonna look at training him should I get him.

I'd like to potentially train him to the point where I could take him hunting, so that would take a log time to train for. But if that's the biggest issue, it shouldn't be a problem.

Been beekeeping for a local bee farm and while the manager has done a great job teaching me things and how to help operate the hives on my own, I find myself still struggling a bit to keep up and end up asking him the same questions often.

For those who are beekeepers, do any of you recommend a book to get me familiar with vocabulary or just certain ideas? I've been looking at these two but I'm somewhat conflicted because the reviews are good for both.

Dummies was useful for me. A bit cringe worthy sometimes in how it tries to appeal to people but solid info. That being said the experience you are getting will trump any book
>>
>>2093605
Yeah I guess I just wanted something to supplement it. I am surprised with how much I've learned though.

Maybe I'm trying to impress him or myself, who knows
>>
I'm a beekeeper, but still pretty amateur. It seems to me like the only way to learn is to do it. People will tell you a million different ways to keep bees with minute differences, but a lot of it just comes down to chance. Bees are fickle and individual colonies will all vary in production depending on the area around them to forage, climate, presence of parasites/disease, etc. The only way to do consistently well at it is to have a lot of hives to work with. Huge commercial operations lose something like a third of all their bee a year but can then double their populations by splitting hives in the spring.

Hey guys, a while back I read about either a fly, or an ant, or some insect which when young, stretches it's eyeballs out of it's head, and the body hardens and it becomes a permanent thing!

Anyone shed some light on it?
[ No, it's not reversible, like inflation as seen in the picture. ]

>>2093550
Really curious about what the bug is! anyone?
>>
>>2093550

I don't remember the name, but ya. The fly blows air bubbles into it's eye stalks when it emerges from it's pupae while it's exoskeleton is still soft. It's a reproductive thing, like females pick males with the longest stalks.
>>
>>2093555
So wait, it might actually BE the pictured one?

I was under the impression that the fly did this to attract a mate, and it was undoable.

I thought they did it once as young and it was permanent...Any ideas?
