>April Fools layout on April 2nd

So my parents have this big dog, still a pup. They keep in a small enclosure by day, by night he is free.
Main reasons are: he shits everywhere (have to train him to do it in one spot behind the house), he sometimes digs and ruins my mom's flowers, other than these there is concern about the safety of people entering the yard...

Any advice?

So does he not dig at night? I don't see where it is okay to let him out at night but not in the day?
>>
>>2092122
How big is the enclosure, are you talking a box sized thing or a shed or a big enough run?
>he shits everywhere
He still a pup but will be needed to train him out of it
>he sometimes digs and ruins my mom's flowers
Can be trained out of it.
>other than these there is concern about the safety of people entering the yard...
Whats the concern him getting stolen or him attacking? Either way invest in a fence.

Do you think your parents are good owners? Because it sounds like they tend to be the time to get a dog, get bored and have a glorified lawn ornament.
>>
>>2092173
How do I train him out of this?
About the size of a shed, he can't gallop around.
There is a fence, and the concern is about him attacking people, he displayed a bit of aggressivness towards a gipsy

Thanks.

If I put my dead cat's corpse in a large pot/planter, underneath a dwarf maple tree, will it decompose naturally and become fertilizer for the tree?

Or will it just stink really bad and kill the tree with toxins? Cat was like 3.5lbs at death.

Lack of depth is my biggest concern. Serious question.

>>
I would recommend that you bury the cat into the ground and plant the tree on top of it. There is no point in putting both into a planter and it will most likely kill the tree if you want the tree to symbolize the whole life-comes-from-death circle of life thing. I'm sorry to hear about the cat, too.
>>
>>2092000
I would, problem is this property is rented. So not only am I not really allowed to, I can't really take the tree with me.

I was skeptical that it would work. Or, it would, I'd probably just need a huge fucking pot.
>>
You could always have the cat cremated and use the ashes in the dirt. Bit more expensive but you can use a smaller pot, making it easier to take with you

What are YOU doing to stop animal abuse, /an/?

Animal abusers should be treated the same as child abusers. Inb4 guys like bugguy who have no concept of compassion.

Why wouldn't you? There are so many homeless cats out there, you are an asshole if you add to that....also, my female cat became a much better pet after her spay
>>
>>2091670
I really hate this "why would you add to that" response. You're not. An unaltered animals mere existence does not add to the population.
I have not had a dog neutered in a decade. None of them have reproduced. Thanks, properly managing my animals.
>>
>>2091651
My "Hobby" is picking abandoned kittens and give them a better life with some family. So i have them spayed/neutered, because these people, while nice, are (usually) awful at taking care of kittens with less than 3 months.

What's been your experience with calming aids? I'm moving to another state in a couple months, and this will be my dog's first major road trip, so I'm not sure how he would react. Which ones, if any, would you recommend?
6 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
>>2091599

The only calming aid I've ever heard of working is the thunder jacket.

I would reccomend getting your dog used to the car. Take him in the car while you run errands. Take him to a dog park like an hour or 2 away. He'll hopefully start to recognize car rides as fun, and not freak out.

My dogs used to by antsy in the car, but I started taking them to a dog beach about an hour away and now they hop right in and settle down when they get in.
>>
>>2091601
Will this work for a 14 hour drive over 2-3 days?
>>
>>2091754
I took my dog on a road trip. The total time in the car was somewhere around 24 hours due to us being stuck for four hours after there was an accident.

My dog ended up being really stressed out from the ride, and this manifested in gatrointestinal distress. He didn't want to eat his food, but he ate spiky grass at one stop and he ended up having diarrhea, which then became bloody diarrhea. The emergency vet we took him to was REALLY shitty and only served to stress him out more.

He never freaked out in the car, he just lay there quietly as we drove. He did bother us when he needed to go to the bathroom and when he was thirsty, but that was it. Poor guy.

All that said, ask your vet about Cerenia for potential carsickness. I had it on hand, but it didn't do anything to prevent that diarrhea.

I love furry animals.
I was and still am a big fan of rodents. I've had them since I was 12.
Literally, yesterday morning, throughout the last few years of coping with rodent allergies, I had the worst asthma attack in history which prompted me of getting rid of my pet mice.
I woke up the next day, just now, and there was a sense of emptiness.

I recently moved to a new place, and my room has bare necessities, infact, I got a mattress on the floor. There's not many wires and the ground is pretty open.

I was thinking of getting some kind of flightless bird.
I always was interested in the idea of birds, but first I must do research. I would like to know what you think.

Important that it doesn't shit on my bed, or if it does (which is fine) it's hard feces instead of that shit seagulls melt on you.

Quiet would be nice too.

Don't get a pet
>>
>>2091587
No no, I have money, I just decided to go the minimalist approach. I have a desk, and a drawer, a mirror. It's barebones.
>>
>>2091587
I don't have a bed. I'm not poor, I just prefer to sleep on the floor because I'm weird.

And OP, why a flightless bird? Do you mean a bird with clipped wings or an actual flightless bird? Because then good luck with that. As for the feces, birds just don't have hard feces.

Leopard geckos are one of the most common pet reptiles out there, so let's have a thread. Share pictures, stories, information and ask questions about leos here.

I would really love to see other people's leos, there's just so many morphs and specialties out there that each one seems special. I would also LOVE to see enclosure pictures, I'm absolutely fascinated by how creative you can get with small animal tanks.

I've recently put in some rose bushes, but I'm getting a lot of conflicting information on how to keep them. I was told I need to water them everyday until they're established, but I'm worried I'm over watering them. The buds looks very fat and engorged, and the one pictured is starting to get yellow leaves. Is watering them every other day going to be sufficent?
8 posts and 2 images submitted.
>>
You should be watering every day for the first two weeks. Then once every two or three days. If you live in an area where it's really hot in the summer, go back to watering daily.

It's really freaking tough to overwater shrubs. Like, near impossible.

The yellow leaves are no big deal at all. It's really common, and they'll snap out of it. It's just a minor nitrogen deficiency, and you can use some water soluble fertilizer to perk it up if it's really bugging you.

Honestly, it looks and sounds like you are doing everything right.

Roses are the most boring, overused plants. Plus they look shit and require pruning.

Fuck roses.

Best rose = Zéphirine Drouhin
Truly thornless, repeat blooming, great as a shrub or a climber, neon bright color, smells amazing.

Does anyone know what kind of lizard this is? I think he looks like a little ankle but I'm not sure. My boyfriend found him at his job and it's too cold out to let him go.
Hes really small tail to head about 5in long and super thin. I got him some dried flies to eat and water.

Sorry, anole lizard**
>>
>>2091097
If he's native to the land you found him in, then it isn't too cold-he may have been hybernating and you could risk possibly killing him by taking him out of the environment that he knows how to survive in.

If you figure out what type of lizard it is, google a caresheet for it as soon as you can. Best thing to do would just be to put him back near some logs or something that he could hide under so it doesn't freeze his body.
>>
>>2091098
you appear to be right. It looks like an anole. Like the other guy said, if he is native, leave him be, if not, get a care sheet and a proper set up for it.
