Much smaller than it feels like. I blame those two goddamn vertical shafts.
Not sure if this belongs on /v/ or /vg/, but you guys seem nicer than /v/, so I'll post here.
What do old games have that modern ones don't? Is it just nostalgia, or is there some fundamental difference between how we made games then and how we make them now? For the longest time, I thought that I was just kinda growing out of games as a whole, but then I bought some PS2 games on a whim and I had a total blast with them. These were games that I had no nostalgic connection to before playing them, yet I felt like a kid again when I booted them up. This sort of rekindled my hobby for gaming, and I'm finding that most things 7th gen and prior is still appealing to me, but anything past that isn't (with certain exceptions of course). What's going on here? You guys got any thoughts?

>but you guys seem nicer than /v/
oh boy where you mistaken
>>4166339
Oh gosh, really? Oh well. I made a thread and now I gotta go down with the ship.

how should we know, we can't decode your own taste for you
What /vr/s thought on Reproduction carts?
>>4165091
Will not speak for /vr/ but I like them.

Copies of actual NTSC-UC or PAL games (depending on your region) are pointless.
Copies of games that weren't released in your region (like Terranigma if NTSC-UC), or games with fantranslation patches are kind of eh. They can be cool, but at the end of the day, they're pointless.
Get a flashcart, it will be more economical in the long run.
If you're going to play on real hardware, buy the real game. Flash carts are fine for the convenience of bringing your console to a friend's place, and trying games you haven't played before purchasing. That's it.
>ok, anon. you get one game, one movie and one snack
what are you choosing, /vr/?
>>4151460
- Some Fighting Game, because I'll never buy one of those again after SF2, alternately something weird I haven't seen anywhere else like Spanky's Quest. I never gave a shit about PS1 or N64, which means my rentals can be wild for they are cheap
- Some 80s or early 90s horror movie because I enjoy practical effects and imaginative concepts
- I don't know what snacks they had at Blockbuster, we had Video Kingdom where I lived, no snacks there worth getting, Reeses Pieces I guess
earthbound , the last unicorn, and milk duds.

Why so much PC hate?
PC game ports that you played on consoles back in the day because you didn't have a computer
>>4046249
And the sequel.
none actually
N64 was and still is an amazing FPS console.
Arcade game, shooter set in space with the final boss being a giant eyeball...90s I believe, that's all I remembered.
>>4181767
was it Biohazard battle? i don't remember the final boss but they were all gross out type monsters.
>>4181767
Gradius or Saladmander or R-type
>>4181767
How certain are you that the final boss was the eyeball? Gradius II is set in space and has a giant eye boss, but it is only the second bodd.
Where did it go so wrong? They made some great games
you mean they published some great games
Shiny developed the good interplay games

This
ITT:
/vr/ games only you care about.
I like Normality, it's a very unique game. It's a point'n'click adventure from first person perspective. The puzzles are kinda weird and the game overall is pretty "meh". Not bad, but not exceptionally good either. But what I really like about this game is the atmosphere and just the overall feeling of the radical 90s attitude. The game is also very eerie because of how empty it is. You can also sense that the game was rushed because there's lots of red herring, and not the type of red herring you see typically in this type of games, but literally just dead ends that lead nowhere.
For example, there would be areas that the game clearly indicates to be points of interest, but you never get to those areas and/or you never get to use all your items. Some of the dialogue is also referencing to stuff that is clearly not happening on the screen ie. Kent describes that one engineer woman wearing a white labcoat when she clearly is not wearing a labcoat.
I care about this game because of how it plays, how it feels, and how it never got the following I think it deserves. Also, the graphics are comfy as fuck.
Point and click spiritual sequel to Drascula: The Vampire Strikes Back with licenced characters. Only in German and Spanish so it's safe to assume I'm the only person that cares about it here.

Oh nice, I know about those comics, but I never knew there was a video game(s?) based on them. My mom bought some of the comic albums when I was a kid, and even back then I knew they were special. They weren't exactly meant for children, but they had the type of humor both adults and children could appreciate.
The Finnish translation of the comic is "Älli ja Tälli", which roughly translates to "Smarty and Punchy" or "Smart and Punch". It's a play on words because "ällitälli" can be interpreted as something like "minblowing" or "sudden realization".
>fun platformer
>Challenging at times but easy
I was never able to beat it when I was a kid, but I finally did it last week. Feelsgoodman.png
Sure, Pacman didn't need a platformer, or to be in the 3d world but that doesn't make the game not fun
Currently my collection is:
NES: Super Mario/Duck Hunt, SMB 3, Zelda (saves don't work well)
SNES: Super Mario World (only one)
N64: SM64, Banjo, a Disney Tetris game
Genesis: Sonic 2
Gameboy: Pokemon Crystal, Tetris DX (not focusing on collecting games for this system that much).
My goals are to get a PS One, a Gamecube, and a Dreamcast, but I lack in games for my consoles. What should I start with?
nigga, its cool you have the consoles, but don't call it a collection, your best bet at this point is everdrives - cost effective and not as autistic
>>4180108
This. You missed the boat hard on cheap NES, SNES, N64, and Gamecube games. Your enthusiasm is good, but it's really not worth trying to build a collection for those systems if you're just starting out.
>>4180046
Just focus on the best games of each console and from there the weird but good ones or even better focus on a genre you like
Is this the greatest compilation of games ever?
>>4179905
Yes.
>>4179905
No.
Uh, who knows maybe. It doesn't let you play the lock-on Sonic 3 & Knuckles though, how fucked up is that? Sega pulled it off on Sonic Jam for Saturn, it's inexcusable.
But speaking about that cover... what the fuck is wrong with Sonic's pose? His feet and arms are really off.
I recently got a sega Genesis and I only have a few games, (sonic1, jurassic park, Galaxy force 2) and I wanna know if anyone knows some good
cheap games.
Go to store, pick up cheap game, find out for yourself.
6-Pak is a good bargain and other less legitimate multicarts but the EDMD is only like $30
