-As you get deeper into the game, try not to stand too close to people when you talk to them outdoors.
-Jumping strikes work surprisingly well against Iron Knuckles, even in tight spaces.
-If you see a sparkly skull thing (Bubble), ignore it. In many cases, the XP you get from it doesn't warrant how long you'll spend hitting it before it dies.
-As always, feel free to explore off the beaten path and away from roads. There are places that are hidden, and finding some of these locations is needed to allow progression through the game.

Is Bomberman Hero a good game?

It's my favorite bomberman game of the N64.

the lack of multiplayer is the only downside.
>>
Yeah. It's on my top 3 bomber games.
>>
Overrated. Bomberman 64 is incredible though

>Be me
>Buy 32X for my bday so I can play the copy of Knuckles' Chaotix I blew $50 on
>Look up 32X manual so I connect this shit w/o destroying it
>Things are going well, but the manual mentions something about "metal plates"
>lel I don't have those
>Hook up everything and game plays fine after crashing a few times before I clean the 32X connector
>Image is of title screen, works like a charm
>Read up on the plates, and read somewhere that they prevent electromagnetic and static shit from destroying your system
>oh fuk m8
>Read elsewhere that the plates are unnecessary and do more damage then they help
>Confused

If any of you guys have a 32X, should I go hunting for metal plates, or will I be fine w/o them. System works great w/o so far, but I don't want to damage or brick ~$100+ of retro hardware that's hard to find.

Mmm yes. Thank you for the insight. I appreciate your help.

They're just to prevent RF interference. Nobody ever used them back in the day so they're kind of rare. If you were a psycho RGB purity of signal autist you might notice a difference in your picture with and without it but you could also probably just substitute aluminum foil.

ITT: We share interesting but rather unknown retro vidya facts

A second PC port of Biohazard 2 came out in Japan, on DVD, fully compatible with windows XP and featuring higher resolution and fps (for FMV's). Although most western players never heard of this port, an English patch exists.

So, tonight I went down to my local Ed McKay to check out some goodies. They said they had a functioning 32x, but someone bought it before I got there. Bastards wouldn't hold the tech I wanted, but whatever. I got to looking around and asked if they had a DreamCast. A few years ago. I'd stopped playing it and I had a buddy who really loved the thing. So, it ended up staying at his place 'by accident', if you catch my drift. Anyways, they open the box and it's my Dreamcast. I can tell because the top is stained orange from when I went to a gaming expo in my hometown 12 years ago and I colored it orange and found out that those markers stain plastic. Bought it, and with it came an unopened copy of Grandia II and Chonicles of Pern: Dragon Riders, also unopened. I opened both of them and began playing tonight. I'm convinced that this was meant to be.

I took the plastic covers off, but whatever. The discs are pristine. Felt great buying all of this for $100 altogether. They also tossed me a copy of Comix Zone for Genesis.

This. At the end of the linked oracle games you see Link setting sail on a boat. The official timeline also places them right before awakening.

Fuck the 48k though, 128k+ master race
>>
>>3852438
Back in the late 80s, my dad bought me a 128k +2 with hundreds of games from one of his colleagues. The Speccy was my first introduction to video games. It was easy to copy games with a dual cassette deck too. I used to go to the local computer shop with my parents every Saturday and they'd buy me one of the £2.99 budget games. I especially loved the Dizzy games.

God, the first time I saw Star Fox and heard the music, I was completely blown away

I remember actually uusing a tape recorder to record the Game start menu music. And if I'm not mistaken, unlocking some sort of South d test to get all the levels music. I just loved that trippy/floaty sound that a lot of the levels had.

But I remember my older cousin saying "Soon, all video games are going to look this good".

Can we agree that using a flashcart, on real hardware, on a CRT is the intelligent way to enjoy retro games?

I used to buy game carts, not just carts, but CIB, before I realized that I was spending hundreds and hundreds of dollars a week on simple plastic and cardboard and glue and it was a complete waste of money.

When I could simply spend a little bit on a flash cart, and enjoy 98% of a game's library.

I love this game but that alien puzzle where you have to simeon says the noises made me quit the game.

The longest Journey is great, it only has one bullshit puzzle about a pizzabox near the end of the game. Dreamfall is okay bt the ending is abrupt as fuck. It ruins the game.
