I don't know the last time it was cleaned, whose unwashed urine-stained hands were sitting on that table, or even if a coaster was used.

Thanks, but I'm not trying to get potential table-germs in my mouth.

How do we fix the Jovian Republic (and also the Planetary Consortium, I guess)?

EP wanks the creator's politics hard, so it's no surprise that the two major non-anarchist/communist factions are ragingly retarded cartoon supervillains and basically just straw boogeymen. However, I think that both have a lot of potential to be just as interesting if not moreso than the rest of the setting. So how do we do it?

Keep everything the same about them.

But they're right. Make it abundantly clear they're right.
>>

You don't really need to change much, you just need to have balanced portrayals of each faction as opposed to strawmen.

If one of the biggest issues with Wizards is that they get both stronger spells as well as more spells as they get higher level;

Then which is the solution?
>Same number of spells per day, but they get stronger
or
>More spells per day, but they stay the same strength
74 posts and 7 images submitted.
>>
>>54776368
Making more powerful spells take up more spell slots would be the easiest solution.
>>
>>54776368
Making the spells not break the game.
>>
>>54776368
I once attended a LARP that used a point-buy system for spell slots and restricted how you could use them. Basically each level of spells had their own pool of spell slots capped at 5 slots, your number of spell slots per level could not exceed the number of spell slots purchased in levels below it, and spells could not be slotted in spell slots of a lower level.

(Inspired by the After The End mod for CK2)

Post-Apocalyptic settings are all the rage, but that shit's gay as fuck and is mostly just "yo I'm a survivalist eating beans out of cans."

ITT we talk about a truly apocalyptic setting where people have to literally rebuild their civilization -- worse than the collapse of the Roman Empire. It's been a few hundred years, some remnants of the Old World survived (like Mt. Rushmore) but they're seen as the remnants of Gods who came before. Myths of Old America have been passed down and warped over time. Castles, fortresses, and knightly battle cover eastern sea-board while competing hordes of "cowboys" and plainspeople roam the West.

In the old capitol, a cult has arisen, offering worship to a pantheon of Founders: Washington, Jefferson, Hamilton...

A lot of people have already contributed ideas and one poster had a great idea for getting more of the states covered -- pick your state. Ctrl+F it to see previous mentions of it. See if you dig those ideas and want to add to them, or would rather come up with your own idea. Big not! Kingdoms, Duchies, etc. don't need to follow state borders unless the borders denote a specific culture (like Texas). Medieval territories would be more likely to follow topographical features.

I'll include a list of some well-liked ideas from the last thread in the next post.

Good ideas from last thread:

>Minnesota Vikings become real vikings. Norwegians turn their roots and Neo-Norse begin raiding and conquering in the Great Lakes region. Influenced by football paraphernalia, these vikings actually have horned helmets.
>A Cult to the Founding Fathers and subsequent presidents forming on the eastern seaboard.
>Amish are the setting's elves. Having been able to ride out the apocalypse and continuing their simple, isolationist existence for hundreds of years, the Amish of rural Pennsylvania and upstate New York are seen as marvelously advanced compared to the standards of most of medieval America.
>A Rust Cult based on the worship of the old, hollowed shells of factories in the Rust Belt which sees Henry Ford as a Prophet/God figure.
>Duke Walton V of Disney, ruling Orlando and the Magic Kingdom with an ironfist and a knightly order descended from old Disney Mercs/Security.
>The Hoosier King of Indiana maintaining power through great agricultural resources and a few forts staffed by knights who can deploy quickly on the bones of old highways
>A myth that "out west" there's still people from the Before Times or Old America, but to get there you have to pass the Mountains at the End of the World. (Trick is there's nothing there, of course)
>Cheyenne Mountain Facility as a sort of Holy Grail.

There's more, but a lot of it is taken straight from ATE, like the Rust Cult and the Founders Cult. Also a Plains Indian revival with Indians serving the role of Mongol Hordes in the midwest. A Mormon Kingdom of Deseret.

One of the best ideas from the last thread that didn't get much discussion was the idea of Biker Gangs basically becoming the new Condotierri, which I think is very cool.
>>
>>54772867
That was right at the end and I think people were sleepy and worn out from dealing with pissed off indians.

I think it's a solid idea. I just don't know enough about biker clubs/gangs, their HQs, their territories, etc. to say much else other than "it'd be cool if biker gangs were mercenaries."

In After the End, a lot of mercenaries are football teams: The Buckeyes of Ohio. The Atlanta Bravemen. To me, this makes less sense as they're tied to a geographical location. Not something neutral like "The White Company."

Also nobody really got into the Southwest or Northwest other than the joke about white nationalist cascadia.

>They choose Pathfinder. Not exactly the farthest stretch, but they had the books.
>Okay, smart guys, how you gonna make this work? Hard Mode: Attempt to become the heroes of the story, despite flaws.
> Inquisitor Frollo, Ranger Clayton, Paladin Gaston with La Foole as packmule npc/bard
>1a. Frollo and Gaston make French jokes at the expense of anglo Clayton
>1b. Frollo and Clayton make Noble jokes at the expense of village hick Gaston
>1c. Clayton and Gaston make Trophy Hunter/Outdoorsie jokes at the expense of urban scrub Frollo.
>2. Dang it, they've already got a perfect circle of background/witty banter lined up.
>3. Gaston-player even took the time to make LaFoole using mostly npc-classes; he never bothers reading the rules usually. I can't punish him for actually getting invested in mechanics, can I?
>I try suggesting Dark Heresy or 13th Age instead; I had those books as pdfs. "Nope, here, have PathfinderSRD".
>They've laid the groundwork, got me the rules, and actually 'made' character-alikes that aren't completely antagonistic to each other
>Just as I'm about to get started, Player Four Arrives, asking if he can join.

My three regular jokers are finally getting coordinated, rule-savvy, and seem to have gotten over their usual pickering/That Guying to play something that actually seems fun. Problem is, they weren't counting on Player Four showing up.

I want to allow Player Four, but have him follow the same guideline I set beforehand. I'm torn between rewarding them for actually taking the time to think things out and have made their characters.... but I also want to mess with them so that I can maintain control of things rather than watch any plot I make get rektd too easily.
A) Any suggestions for Player Four?
B) What is best in life, to see actual Jolly Cooperation or hear the lamentations of their failing?

Couldn't they be persuaded to play 5e instead?
>>

OP here.
Sure they could... if anyone sent me the rules. My budget for new books is ash and couch-change until mid-September.
If there's an SRD for 5e, you people can save me from having to actually read Pathfinder.... though it would mean Gaston-anon would have to remake his npc-follower.
Meh, I could do that for him, it's just he actually fricking read the Pathfinder rules enough to make his own sheet (a god-damned first; usually Frollo-anon makes his character for him, hence the fricking titlecard pic)

The joke anon's getting at is that they replaced the art of this card, who's appearance is based off of the winner of the last Magic Invitational in 2007
>>

So? They changed the art in MM3 too

Humans are arrogant.

Sometimes us humans think, "Hey, wait a second! What if the gods want us to pray to them because our prayers are the source of their powers? What if the gods need us?" Granted, it's not a completely ridiculous sentiment. After all, why would the gods want us to worship them? But think of it this way.

You have a boss, right? And your boss wants you to treat him with respect. "Yes, Mr. Boss Man. No, Mr. Boss Man. I will suck your dick, Mr. Boss Man." Now, why do you treat him differently than the lunch lady at the company cafeteria? Because he's got the power to fuck with you. If you tell him to eat shit, he will make your life miserable. Your boss won't stop being richer, more powerful, smarter and getting laid more often with way hotter chicks than you just because you stop sucking up to him. You'll just be without a job and he'll keep fucking supermodels in the ass in the backseat of his limo.

See, that's what a god is. A god is the boss of all bosses. The top motherfucker who fucks the entire goddamn world in the ass. He doesn't want your prayers because he needs them. He wants them so he'll know you know he's playing on a different level. Telling a god to fuck off won't make him any less of a god, it will just make you the poor fuck who pissed off the dude who makes the entire world his bottom bitch.

And that's the arrogance of mankind. We'd like to think we created the gods. That they need us. But the truth is we're just the poor motherfuckers at the bottom of the cosmic barrel and they enjoy making us squirm. They don't need us any more than a billionaire needs the kid in the sweatshop making sneakers.

So let's just say our prayers and hope Mr. Boss Man doesn't decide we're bad for company morale, yeah?

You're stupid, you know that? Not because you said an idea, but because you genuinely think humanity could endure an eternity as a slave race.
