Why doesn't urban fantasy usually have psychics/psionics? They normally show up in the sci-fi leaning stories instead.
>>55029766
Urban fantasy without psychic powers is stupid
>>55029766
I think mostly because of how retarded it'd be to balance. Same thing that happens with mind mages usually. And if you just import psionics from high fantasy settings, it just feels silly
>>55029766
You what?
Psychics are pretty much one of the cores of urban fantasy. Unless UF has changed a lot in the few years I've not been closely following it.

Literally anything that isn't spelled out in some STC.
It took them 10000 years to attach a preexisting type of cannon to a preexisting type of tank, insert joint A into slot B, because there was no known STC that specifically said it was possible.

It's like that yeah
In all honest, what would happen to a sufficiently large empire whose arbitrary and electronic currency suddenly became arbitrarily worthless, such as a big computer crash and there being no sufficient physical records of value?
The people who controlled the pants would control the Universe.
>>55028557
Not much, for internal trade you make new money. For external trade you begin to liquidate assets.
>>55028557
It would depend what the value of that currency was ultimately derived from. Ultimately, one of three things happens:
A. A central authority (government, corporation, bank, group of any of the above) establishes a new currency based on some new standard.
B. A multitude of small entities issue their own currencies each with wildly varied values and stabilities.
C. Some combination of the above.
>A million skeleton archers begin raining death down upon your party
Assuming those are your bog-standard skeletons, none of them can even hit us at this point, not even with a crit, because they'd need to confirm it - which they can't.
God bless ridiculous numbers of 3.5!
>>55028684
Don't crits auto hit?
>>55028701
Maybe in 5e, but by 3.5 rules, you don't actually crit right away. You need to roll a second time, and this time see if you hit your target's AC. It's called confirming, and majority of people forget that this rule exists.

Then play as an interesting human.
Let's share our collective /tg/ wisdom. I'll start us off.
> Never trust a GM who is not a good player.
> Play the game, not the system.
> A "role" can mean multiple things. It could be a role in the story, a role in the setting, a role in the game, etc. Make an effort to fulfill a role in each way that you can.

> Platitudes aren't useful

>>55028334
Traps are gay.
Let's make a thread to appreciate, justify, and explain all our favorite troups. Also pointing out places they're done well.
I know /tg/ is largely anti-cliché, but i think things often become cliché for a reason.
One of my favorite troups is the City of Thieves. Conan did it well with Zamora and Skyrim did it pretty ok with Riften (with a few mods, at least).
I want to make a game where there's a City of Thieves that only thieves would know how to get to, and its location is a pretty well-kept secret.
How would a city like this feed itself though? Are slave farmers the only viable explanation?
It probably wouldn't have any government, and I imagine the only permanent residents would be business owners. People would probably have to either buy food grown by slaves, steal it from other thieves, or make their slaves grow it. It would likely have a huge swap meet/bazaar in the center where thieves exchange and buy/sell stolen goods.
What would a code of conduct look like here? Do you think the "citizens" would enforce any kind of honor code thats probably often broken, like "dont steal in the city"?
>>55028124
>Do you think the "citizens" would enforce any kind of honor code thats probably often broken, like "dont steal in the city"?
I actually think people would follow this code, i can only imagine the paranoia of living in city populated only by thieves, without it the city would colapse
>>55028124
>the only permanent residents would be business owners.
Quite the opposite, businesses and their owners would be the first to leave a city full of thieves.
>>55028972
Not if they're mafiosos catering to thieves.
In this idea, the city was built by thieves. Probably started as a thieves guild hideout and expanded from there
What wacky hijinks would you get up to if your best friend was a Doombull?

If Nurgle can give you physical diseases, can he give you mental disorders as well? Or is having a mental disorder a more Tzeentch-ish thing?
Let's talk about madness and mental disorders in the Warhammer universe.
No Chaos god has the lock on mental disorders. The entire setting is designed to fuck up people's heads. Most factions can be seen through the lens of what kind of mental disorder the group experiences to cope with how fucked up their world is.
No that is slannesh. Homosexuality is a choice.
>>55028048
Dude, Nurglite diseases are not physical. They are spiritual and mental. Their infectivity depends on the state of mind of the victim. In other words, it can only infect people with mental abnormalities already.
For example, the Plague of Unbelief aka zombie plague can only infect those with no faith (atheists) or are hopeless.
Well adjusted individuals have nothing to fear from Nurgle.

Can you transition from the starting adventure in the basic set to one of the campaign books, or are the levels going to be off?
What are some good mini adventures or collection of mini adventures that can be done in a city?
What's a good magic item to give to a level 7 Glamour Bard? I want to give every party member something permanent that suits them. But on the other hand I want just give her a wand if lightning bolt because not every situation calls for a fancy support/control spell, sometimes you just want to shit out some damage. And since I'm running STK with 3 people and not changing encounters, I figure some extra damage can't hurt. What do you all think? Anything that would suit a Glamour Bard better for flavour? She does tend to use her looks to help her get what she wants.
What are his stats /tg/?
