Real question for the GMs and DMs out there. Do you even bother using published stats for creatures or do you just handwave? Or my favorite of using a published creature's statblock for a different creature.

Yes to all.
>>
I use published stat blocks but I roll HP for everything.
>>
>>51757940
I take the essentials from the block. For D&D, that would be: HP, AC, attack hit/damage rolls, CR, and XP. I'll guess and approximate things like STR, speed, or known languages.

When you have to mix STR and DEX in a single stat, how do you name it? Something that you can roll to punch somebody, then roll again to climb a roof.
Is not that I can't use a thesaurus, I just want to know what's your favorite.

I quite like the term 'Physique' if we're talking about general-use terms governing all physical stats. It's good and generic, but still sounds nifty.

Advanced Fighting Fantasy just calls it "Skill".

What does this mean? Are the tyranids making themselves known during the final battle? Are tyranids going to cuck abandon out of taking terra?

'Nid players have to feel like they are involved in this mess somehow, guess genestealer cults somehow making it all the way to Terra is the easiest way to do that

>Are tyranids going to cuck abandon out of taking terra?
IMO, but nope, more likely they are deus ex machina to remove High Lords and somehow make Terra easy target for Abby.

Look, as an Australian, the poison animal shit is overdone. Don't fall into stereotypes, dude. If you really want to ripoff Australia, though, look to Aboriginal mythology. The native population is disturbed by the arrival of a prison colony? Suddenly the invading forces are plagued with terrible nightmares leaving those who succumb to them in a catatonic state. There we go, dreamtime meets some weird cthulu bullshit. Have a set of native beasts (they can even be poisom) for the day sections, some weird nightmare beasts for when the players sleep, and some weird cult/tribals as the main enemies. Nightmare shit can fuck up rest cycles, like certain creatures eating spellslots or hit dice, maybe the nightmare possesses the character if they die in the dream. Plenty of stuff to work with.

Party returns to Large city from several weeks of adventuring/plundering, ladden with +1 weapons, which are Very fucking rare.(But players seem to be clueless of that DESPITE that fact being pointed out on several occasions)

In case they do not want to sell them immediately, is it ok for them to be firrst approached by several potential buyers and to experience ever more attacks with a goal of getting the magic items from them?

thanks

+1 weapons give you just a +1 bonus to your attacks. It's not a big deal no matter how hard you try to paint it as such.
>>
>>51754026
What is damage resistance/Damage immunity?
>>
>>51754083
Something that's trivial to overcome with more damage, a different damage type, or the use of a single spell. If a weapon that has merely a 5% increase in accuracy and 1 damage is considered a big deal in your world then I don't even know what to tell you.

I'm searching for fitting rpg system with given requirements:

- no theater, entirely strategic decisions
- no hex/square grid
- using miniatures/tokens and measuring distance
- preferably with complex terrains like elevation, bushes, mud, water etc
- no religion/politics/fate/customs etc topics that you have to know to play the game
- no mordheim becouse simplistic and weird magic system
- any setting, disregard picrel

Any help anons?

So you don't want an RPG, you want a wargame.
>>
Savage Worlds uses inches.

But you could probably convert just about any grid based combat RPG to use inches.

I can't for the life of me understand why people would want to spend time to measure distances while playing but w/e.
>>
>>51753699
maybe, but wargames involve huge armies probably. Besides no traps, buying stuff, unlocking doors etc. in wargames.

There were three dwarven brothers, all merchants of low-tier magic items in a Large Generic fantasy city. Somehow, they got their hands on a Map to a Secret tomb in which there might still be the devices to create high-tier magic items. An amazing treasure, that would make any owner filthy rich and would be coveted by every powerful dragon, wizard and other badass in the region.

Three brothers went on a quest to find this place, have found it in mountanious badlands region, were ambushed by a Dark elf who took the Map from them, killed one o them and started to explore Secret tomb with his band. One dwarven brother escaped, had found help of reliable adventurers who eventually killed Dark elf and his minions, saved other surviving brother and have cleaned out an entire Secret tomb.

My question is: How should Dwarven brothers now proceed? Secret tomb should be explored in detail and its magical secrets revealed as well as protected to a decent enough level.

Should a third party be involved? Should adventurers be asked to help guard the Secret tomb? Perhaps some powerful dwarven warlord should be notified? A dragon perhaps? Problem is, all these will just take all the riches Secret tomb produces, for themselves. How should two dwarven brothers act? Being traders, they have small wealth on the side for this things, but nothing excessive. Also they have lost their brother for this Secret tomb and they really want it for themselves.

thanks

I'm confused. You find army men chinese knock offs to be expensive? You can have a kg of them for a dollar.

I just picked up Volo's for 5e, and thought the Lizardfolk quirk amusing.

Some like to use metaphors after learning about them, and use them at every opportunity, regardless of how appropriate to the situation they may be.

What've y'all got? Any tales of inappropriate/unrelated metaphors used to good effect?

Well, you can misuse sayings in the way that real people do. I don't think I've heard a single person use "beg the question" or "the exception that proves the rule" correctly.

Some metaphors have been misused so much that they've become contronyms, like "moot point."

Slavery basic got shit done in the middle ages, and now.
What constitutes slavery in your campaigns?

>Slavery
Serfdom. England and France outlawed slavery in the 12th/13th century (and then created loopholes about how the colonies aren't "really" France/England so it's okay, but a few centuries later they abolished it everywhere and now they get shit for being racist slavers. No good deed goes unpunished).

>What constitutes slavery in your campaigns?
Haven't really thought about it. Which is weird now that I think about it, considering the 'main' nation in my setting is a faux-Roman Empire. I should think about a way to include slavery.
>>
>>51752097
Is serfdom that much different than slavery?
sure they could have more rights as being considered people but at the end of the day they were effectively slaves.
>>
Reminder that in Russia, you could sell and buy your serfs (with families or apart) and whip them to death.
