The time for the Tau to spread across the galaxy has arrived.

>The Fourth Sphere Expansion fleet set off almost immediately once the fires in the Gulf had subsided, but with the Great Rift still raging through that region of space, all contact with them was soon lost. Were they all killed by some unknown attacker(s)? Did they just lose contact due to interference? Perhaps they entered the Warp – intentionally or not – becoming lost (or worse) in the violent empyrean tides? Maybe they will yet be found, or emerge somewhere unexpected in the galaxy, a lost portion of this optimistic new empire ever intent on conquest…
>The Cicatrix Maledictum, the great warp rift that split the galaxy in half, snuffed out the multi-system-spanning firestorm – the war for the Damocles Gulf is back on! With the Imperial defenders pressed hard on every front from Chaos incursions, reemergent Necron dynasties, and ravenous Tyranid hive fleets, the T’au were quick to react to the new opportunity. They launched their Fifth Sphere Expansion to fight back against these terrors of the galaxy, seeking out new worlds and claiming more territory for the Greater Good.

Hey, now we can play Tau in campaigns that aren't set near them without it feeling weird.
>>53227765
*Blocks your expansion*
>>53227765
actually this makes sense, now you have mor fluff reasons to include tau in other scenarios than just damocles and the occasional waaagh or splinter fleet.
we really talk rarely about them. i wonder why?
>>53227746
Because of furfaggots
Furfags mostly.
Or no. Entirely because of furfags
>>53227746
Because HURR DUUUR FURRRRRIES BAAAAAD
So, decided to try AoS after years of 40k.
Wanted to run Nurgle but either the sculpts are shit (daemons) or jew-tier expensive (rotbringers).
Hear everyone talking about how good sigmarines are. Three weeks later, have a shitload of them.
Try a 1200 pt battle vs Sylvaneth. Refused flank on a 3x3 table. First turn, my celestant gets popped by Kurnoths. Trees and forests teleport around freely, better mobility than I can ever hope to have. So they have better ranged than me, better tarpits than me, better mobility than me, the same saves as me due to buffs, and far more units overall.
Did I fuck up in my army selection? All I can think is that there wasn't a single thing my sigmarines could do that the sylvaneth couldn't do better.
Who wants to buy some sigmarines? I think I'm going to go nurgle after all.
>>53227056
A) who the fuck plays on a 3x3 table? That's asking to be immediately in range of kurnoth hunters, which are sylvaneths strongest unit
B) SCE are strong, when used right. Don't go in having no idea how they work, get your ass kicked and then just assume they are terrible. One of their biggest strengths is their allegiance abilities and relics. Their army wide ability allows you to deep strike your entire fucking army and not just wait a turn for your opponent to snipe you with arrows on a 3' board.
C) battalions are also good. Some get you really fucking close to your opponent to make him sweat, like the hammerstrike force, or are very completive, like the aetherstrike force.
There is a lot more than meets the eye with AoS. It's not just deploy 2 armies and clash in the middle.
Also this should go in the age of sigmar general. You are likely going to get a lot of trolling outside of it.
>>53227588
3x3 was all they had at FLGS, AND I don't mind trolling.
Getting close to the enemy does you no good if the're all in forests/woods and you lose 15% of your multi-wound models on the charge.
Add in their ability to teleport around the battlefield and constantly regen, and you have a force that's hard to crack the spine of.
Hey /tg/, should a flying battleship be treated similar to a boat when it comes to maneuvering about? Or do you absolutely require engines out to the sides all up and down the vessel?
>>53226797
If it's fantasy? Handwave it away and go by rule of cool. If you want realism then it's either blimps and other light materials, or flat out having to use shittons of fuel to keep the engines up so they can move slowly and not fall, or some kinda tech to allow them to ignore gravity without being aerodynamic and moving fast.
>>53226839
I already got the handwaving bit done, world's a bit more radioactive than ours in the right ways so as to make helium abundant. I'm trying to figure out how I should design the ships, and I can't decide on an engine design.
Mostly, I don't want to place them out to the sides like zeppelins traditionally have, but I still want the thing to look atleast remotely capable of actually being able to fly. I want it this way because of the dieselpunk nature of the setting.
>>53226921
Then ya can just go for some thrusters on the bottom and sides. Maybe big or small depending on the aesthetic you want. Especially if you're not going for realism that'll be close enough to do the whole slow moving airship thing. Looks like it'd work in the air so that's all ya need. It isn't like most of your players are going to be aeronatical engineers or NASA employees.
If ya wanted realism? Then you'd be in big trouble.
Tell me about your character's mother, /tg/.
>>53226675
That's what my character wants to discover...
>>53226675
Dead and shit, sickness and starvation. Being a peasant usually sucks.

What would a fantasy or sci-fi setting based on Australian Aboriginal mythology/culture/society look like?
>>53226591
better question: what would a cyberpunk setting based on it look like?
>>53226629
Mad Max with neon lights
>>53226678
Basically this. You're not gonna get an advanced sci-fi setting based on a culture who managed to un-domesticate the dog.
What are the "Australians" of fantasy races /tg/?
>>53226514
>>53226514
Dwarves.
Decent blokes, love alcohol, mining economy, and live down under.
>>53226694
But dwarves are perfectionists and hard workers.
Should a shield be considered a weapon, or armor?
>>53226496
Both
>>53226496
The broadly correct approach for a shield would be to treat it as a weapon with lowish damage potential, but that gives a high defense bonus and a bonus to some special combat stuff (pushing enemies, defending allies, whatever).
This would echo the real-world use of shields, where they were generally incorporated into combat styles as a secondary weapon rather than just as a purely defensive option.
>>53226496
Yes
>your last D&D party is transported to the modern day
What happens?
>>53226424
I paladin the shit out this new holy land
>>53226424
My war domain cleric begins jacking off to tanks instantly. Because concepts of tanks and bombers was his divine revelation. To make a mobile metal construction with cannon and magical engine, plus huge crossbows here and there, pair of alchemical firethrowers and some thick-ass front armor and ram to charge shit.
D&D is shit, I don't play that garbage.

When will we get V5 beta?
>>53226377
My guess is it takes them at least a month to get it out, given they haven't actually released anything before.
When's trinity?
When's scion?
Which fantasy universe does orcs best?
Tolkien depicted them as degenerate elves. They were small and weak, but tenacious and cunning.
Warcraft treated them as noble savages, with strong physiques, good souls, and a shamanistic culture.
DnD treats them as the archetypal chaotic evil fodder race. They are large and strong like Warcraft orcs, but nasty and degenerate like Tolkien orcs.
What do you think is the best take on them?
>>53226293
Mine.
>>53226293
I love orkz in 40k. Could do without the accent, though.

One man army shit
>https://www.warhammer-community.com/2017/05/03/shadow-war-armageddon-one-man-armies/
I played my first couple of games today as part of a campaign and actually won all three of my games due to bottle tests. I'm guessing that's typical, but none of us really came close to completing the objectives. Last game was a four-person free-for-all and I was getting fucked up until it was down to me and one other player, we just slugged it out until he bottled out.
Question guys, I want to do an inquisition killteam since I have some coil models to use for it. Do I go for snipers, storm bolters, or a mix on my acolytes?
>>53226063
Assume that the snipers will have toxin rounds.
Prove that a character who fails the Akagi Test can still be well written. I'll wait.
>>53225456
Can't be done. I can't even think of a good moral character that was ever played straight and wasn't poorly written.
>>53225456
What does this guy have against Kenshiro?
I just played a one shot game as a beast master ranger(PHB version; not the shitty revision that just makes the problem worse) and have to say I was pretty pleased with my build.
I just took a riding horse as my companion. Mounted it and was able to snipe people with a longbow while moving 60ft per turn. At 7th level you can command your companion to disengage as a bonus action so you get that.
Good luck soloing me when I effectively dash, disengage and still make two ranged attacks per round. Also pass without trace is a thing.
>>53225284
>first and second attack to shoot the horse with bonuses due to taking beasts as FE for flavor
Roll dexterity save to prevent some damage from falling off a horse moving at 60ft per turn, and you're knocked prone. Now I'm a strictly better ranger with my hunter conclave abilities.
>>53225629
>horse moves 7 miles per hour
>roll dexterity to stay in saddle
are you serious?
>>53225284
You can't get a riding horse as your companion as it's not medium or smaller
It can't disengage unless you use your action to command it to do so
From 5th level onwards, you can make one attack when you use your action to command your companion, but only if you command it to take the attack action
stop this meme shit
Special "Has anyone played it?" Edition
Model Gallery
http://www.warlordgames.com/konflikt-47-awesome-gallery-summary/
It looks cool, World War II with mechs, zombies, werewolves/bears/bats, robots, and buckets of infantry.
Dust seems to have pissed everyone off since that kickstarter fiasco, and I don't know where else to get the alternate history WW2 fix. (Also Dust had odd looking models half the time).
I might try out a demo game next week, does anyone have experience with it? It looks to be an expansion of Bolt Action, but I hope it can be played standalone, since I have no interest in traditional historical wargames.
Saw this at my LGS. Thought it looked interesting but I haven't played it yet.
Is it fairly new I guess? There doesn't seem to be a whole lot of models that I can find, or at least all I can find are US or German faction models. Kind of interested in what the Soviets bring to the table. I like their little Cherno Alpha lookin dudes
>>53225235
I think it's less than a year old. I'm interested in the Soviets as well, but their mech selection is limited to two choices I think. Maybe it's a design choice, and they rely on troops more?
But hey, bear-infantry, nuclear siberian stalkers, and steroid-infused superwomen all sound like a fun day in the sun!
>>53225136
It's basically Bolt Action, though I've never had experience with it. If you do have a demo game, report back because I got a few dust minis that need a purpose other than collecting dust.
