Hey /o/
Test drove both of these today and I really don't understand the hype for the Focus RS. Other than the fact that nitrous blue is an amazing paint color and that the exterior is more interesting overall, I was kind of disappointed.
In the RS the feeling of everything was a little more direct and the cornering did feel a little less, artificial? maybe. I felt like the VW was pushing me to hold a specific line more. Overall though the driving dynamic difference between them was so small and the VW was so much better in every other way possible.
Am I missing something or did everyone just fall for the hype with the RS?
>>17416693
It also probably didn't help that the dealership experience with the RS was predictably shit. I had to work to convince them to let me try it and even then it was a boring test drive mostly around town. Salesman at VW offered to let me take the R out and we brought it on some nice backroads and really put it through its paces.
The RS is overhyped and overpriced.
That said, it's performance is respectable.
>>17416693
RS is overhyped.
Golf R is in a totally different league quality wise. Living with the Golf R every day is much better. Also simple mods will make the R faster than the RS (Tune + Downpipe = 330awhp)
Okay, as far as I understand rotaries produce more power per rotor then a cylinder does per cylinder.
So my question is why the fuck are 2 rotor wankels put against V6 and V8s?
Also strictly for race purposes, why don't they stick in a 4 rotor wankel and let it compete against 4 cylinders.
Wankels seem like such an alluring and potential design for all the power in racing and alongside a reliability.
>>17416688
You said it yourself
>rotaries produce more power per rotor than a cylinder does per cylinder
Cars are placed against each other based on power output, among other things.
A 1,200 HP quad rotor monster of a rotary isn't going to be competing against dinky little 250 HP turbocharged I4s. There's just far too much of a power difference.
>>17416688
1 rotor = 3 combustion chambers
>>17416688
>alongside a reliability (sic)
Yeah they're so reliable they have to be completely torn down and rebuilt after every single race
Can someone please explain the me the negative view on VGA cars? I've never owned one but they don't seem all that awful

Why are most drivers generally thoughtless, selfish assholes without an ounce of courtesy?

Fuck em, that guy knows what you did and he appreciates that out of all of those assholes honking, you did a decent thing.
same reason why I follow the zipper merge rule and let vehicles merge into my travelling lane, but when i go to merge and have to force myself in the guy i made slow down for me under threat of causing a bumper mishap fingers me. people are fucking retarded.
How does this look for a two car garage? What would you pick?

They probably made a billion of those fuckers. Even the Nazis had trouble with getting rid of the Russians
You underestimate the time and volume that this car has been in production. Italy, Soviet Union, Russia, India, Spain, Bulgaria, Turkey, Korea, Egypt, spanning 38 years. 17 million were built in the Soviet Union and Russia alone.

So here we have the 80's and 90's where the Japs are constantly pumping out decent 4 bangers and other sporty cars then suddenly when it hit the 00's it just grinded to a halt and we didn't see anything special or noteworthy for atleast a decade, what went wrong?
Combination of safety regulations and lack of competition

Safety regulations, emissions regulations.
why spend money on cars that dont sell when it comes to expensive halo cars
otherwise
if the 2000s made nothing special or noteworthy then the 80s and 90s didnt either since it was more of the same shit

Yep.
He should have just bought the flanges/yokes, making that part is stupid when you can buy them for like 20 dollars.
