I am buying a car for the first time, what is /o/ thoughts on a chevy impala? I have 5-6k.
I like the ss with the v8 and they sell pretty cheap, do the trannys last on them?
My brother-in-law sold cars back in college an he's telling me to buy a Toyota, Honda, or Hyundai.
Thoughts? Thanks

post your local craigslist.
Listen to your brother, toyotas and hondas are very good beginner cars and you will most always find parts for them. The only major problem i can really think of with the hondas is that the automatic transmissions were prone to failure (esp on the v6 accord), so get a manual if you can drive them. You pretty much can't go wrong with a 3-4k civic/accord/corolla/camry/whatever provided you inspect it and its up to shape.
At last, I finally found a Lamborghini I could realistically afford!

It needs a bit of repair though, this one is less damaged but it's just a boring Gallardo.

>your car is not even 50% worth of burned scrap metal from 10 year old lamborghini

>this pile of scrap is worth 6k because some Italians put a logo on it
why
I found this after opening my hood, searched around and found relation to the water/coolant flange, but I cant find anywhere to snap it into, is it even important? All the hoses going into the flange are secured with metal clamps.
It holds the coolant temperature sensor in, or a plastic bung if one isn't installed.

>>17759221
Thanks a lot dude! I got the sensor replaced recently so the mechanic that did it mightve forgotten to put it back.
>>17759337
The sensor probably came with a new clip, they usually do.
Which one of you did this..?

70-72 Pontiac Lemans, down market version of the GTO, for the layman.

The little rocker emblem suggests a T-37
>>17758571
T-37 was an option package for the Lemans, if memory serves, but that's not a T37, T37 had trunk badging and that badge you're thinking of was actually on the fender like where the "judge" decal woulda been on a 70 Judge.
Ugh, why does highway driving have to be so BORING
To be fair, that might be because 99% of the time I'm on the highway is for my commute to uni, but still
IT'S SO BORING

what's the difference between inertia drift and scandinavian flick?
Best explanation would be with an example. Let's say turn to the right.
For inertia you start at the left / outside of the road. You slightly steer in the direction you want to go (right), then somewhat more in the opposite direction (left). Now your rear wheels will start losing some grip. Turn in the right direction again and you'll be going sideways.
You can keep giving gas the whole time (needs some dosing though) and don't have to use the brake.
For scandinavian you start on the inside / right side of the road, steer left onto the outside, then brake and steer right.
For both you don't need engine power to initiate them

thinking about buying a used car, maybe a CR-V or something reliable. however, I'm paranoid that these cars in the 150k+ range of mileage are just going to need a transmission repair / replacement or something super costly (I've read these cost 2k+) soon after purchasing the vehicle. thoughts? should I just get a new car or something, the prius v or c looks decent.
Get a manual, all problems solved
>>17756685
how does this solve all problems? it seems that manual cars have the same parts that can go wrong...also I don't know how to drive a manual and don't really have the time to learn. just need to get to work and back.
>>17756661
>>17756685
If you're getting a gen 1 crv, get the manual. I have a 98 autotragic, and you have drive it like a manual on the tree, minus the clutch. Also 4 gears is shit pham.
>mfw this entire fucking video

Am I naive to hope that there will come a time where people start restoring salvageable examples of cars like this to production line spec and gradually bring drift/rice taxes down for the rest of us who just want to afford a proper piece of automotive history? Surely there has to be a market for it
