If you shoot ammo through the tiny end of a megaphone will it amplify the sound? Or even just placing a cone over the barrel of your gun to make whatever you're shooting at lose their hearing all the easier?

No, microphones have a maximum dB level they can pick up, anything louder than that, and it will just get cut down to the max level
>>
>>34280313
How about a cone or trumpet bell over the end then?

Okay.
Let me paint a picture for you guys.

A rifle that is
>$400>
>capable of MOA or better
>compatible with STANAG mags
>5.56 (obviously)
>can take AT LEAST a small number of AR parts so as to be capable of using AR aftermarket

So.
Say it rolled in at 10lbs, started with a fudd stock from the factory but could take an adapter for AR stocks (like an AK with a crapco AR stock adapter) and had a sheet metal and trunnion method of receiver manufacturing.
It had a manual of arms akin to a mini 14 or an SVT 40 (hell, the disassembly method of an SVT-40 roughly) and the dust cover would be easily and cheaply swapped for both railed and iron sighted versions.

The barrel attached via a barrel nut kinda like an uzi meaning caliber swaps are quick and easy, and they only cost the price of a barrel.
It has the ability to take American eagle brand stripper clips.

For $400 NIB (not MSRP, but street price) would people not scream "JUST BUY AN AR!"
Would people give it a chance?
What would be necessary to make people give something besides the AR a chance?

>>
The problem with competing with the AR price point is that it's already been developed, researched, the design has been polished and perfected. To design something new, you have all the costs of R&D, tooling, and testing. That has to be recouped in the price of the product. Even if it were possible to PRODUCE the ne rifle at prices lower than an AR, it would still be more expensive because of the company's need to recover costs.
>>
>>34280207
I understand that.
And I don't have anything in mind as of now.

I'm just saying that, hypothetically, should someone put out a gun with those features that had some cross compatibility with AR parts (trigger packs, stocks, and, with modification, hand guards for instance) would someone even consider it or would "just buy an AR" kill it right off the bat?

>10lbs
no just no

So, /k/, I've had a 6mm creedmoor precision rifle for some time now since they came out and it's pretty cool. I don't really mind the trouble ordering the ammo but have been thinking in depth about if it will ever pick up in popularity like the 6.5 cdmr has. Personally, I really don't think many will care much for the difference in a 1:7.7" twist vs 1:8" twist the 6.5 has. Yet, now that Hornady has begun to make the precision hunter round and more rifles, such as the ruger American and precision rifles, in 6mm creedmoor. Is this a sign that it's here to stay and will begin to grow in popularity?

>>
>>34280174
What I would get from a 6mm creedmoor that somehow the loose twist just works for the bullet and that is meant to have better barrel life. However 6.5 creedmoor already got surpassed by Grendel so I'm hoping that 6mm will, or in this case be the next .243 win. The problem is nobody else caught on yet.

I was looking for a .308 in AR platform. Do you guys have any recommendations? Respect if its cheap, but that doesn't' matter for the most part.
Was thinking of building from aero precision?

>>
DPMS used to make shit AR-15's but really good .308's. Not sure if that's true anymore because it seems like after certain happenings everyone was pushed to put out product and quality went down.
>>
the .308 AR market is nearly as "compatible" as its 5.56 brothers.
a LR 308 base (aero precision, dpms, lmt) is your best bet for a build. I would recommend finding a full built one or at least complete upper that matches a stripped lower receiver.
>>
>>34280011
Well the only experience I have with a 308 armalite style rifle is my colt le901.
It's not cheap, and it has proprietary parts so not really something you'd want in shtf, but mine runs like a top and is proving to be much more accurate than I am.
With all the parts and what not available these days I'd build one on a common platform if I was you.

So recently I got a Vepr 12 because I'd like a semi auto 12g mag fed shotgun and the fimegroup was having a promotion/rebate.
Today was the time I shot it, around 200 rounds of Winchester 3 dram bird shot with the aluminum base.
No jams whatever.
I smoothed out all the context points in the gun with some 1000 grain sand paper and also worked the bolt 200 times before I shot and I lived it up with oil and moly grease.

The problem I have is that the stock is loose and creaky. You can move It just a little bit from side to side and there is a very audible creak to it. Another thing is that the magwell is also just light lightly loose and the mag doesn't pop out like it used to. Before I had shot it today I had hit the mag release and the magazine would spring from the magwell a good 6 inches. Now it doesn't at all. Also the bolt release is very stiff.
Anyone know why this might be?

Also while at the range I collected a whole bag of brass. Must weight like 10 pounds, maybe more.
Lots of 9mm and 30-06 and 223 and some 45 and 30-30.
Collected every seen piece of brass I could.

REEEEEEEEEEEEEE.
>>
>>34280045
Yes. Same model except longer barrel, 22.5 vs 18.5.

Lol there was this group of people at the range and there was this mother and daughter.
The daughter was like 9 and at the pistol range shooting a co2 powered BB gun. 9mm brass EVERYWHERE and I picked it all up. I was crawling on my knees around the booths picking it up and I think the little girl was a bit annoyed by that.
I would have also gotten some lead out of the dirt mounds but it rained earlier and it was wet.

This is a public outdoor range.

>>34280005
try not to use CLP or thin lubricant on AKs, they really love thicker stuff like LSA and run noticably smoother

re-attach the stock with some glue/loctite

no idea with the magwell but it's probably due to it being an actual mag-well with looser tolerances made for easier reloading. wouldnt worry about it unless it affects feeding

Buddy of mine just bought one of these about a month ago as his first handgun.
Gun is fine in my hands, but he is hitting squat. Is a good shot with his rifle though.
Three range trips, and about 400 rounds through it.
Always hitting left hard/ missing the target a bunch/ is taking to advice but nothing is seeming to help.
Is considering giving up shooting it and letting it go since he feels he is just blowing money away missing a paper target at about 18 yards.
Any advice /k/?
Our club has a pistol league should he go there and ask?

his hands shake or he simply doesnt understand how to use the sights. other cause could be eye dominance.
>>
>>34279839
18 yards = 54 feet, starting closer is a good tip i think alot of basic practice is at like 7 yards, fire slower , try aiming with the other eye;he may have cross dominance in the eye, and maybe try different ammo?
>>
>>34280057
i have cross dominance as well as being nearsighted ,i was never meant to target shoot;yet i persevere.
