wooden mockup of an "improved" MP5

IIRC, it was to be straight blowback, so it sounds to me that the main improvement was going to be in the price tag.

So the ATF will be here on Wednesday to inspect my location. Good news is this means it is pretty much a foregone conclusion that I am going to receive my license. Anyone here have an FFL?

The Laconia Incident.

Why were the Allies such dicks; shooting at ships picking up survivors of an attack?

It' the Brits.
>>
>>34275232
Basically, it was a huge fuckup on the part of the commanding officer who sent the order. He mistakenly thought warships were not supposed to be flying Red Cross signals and assumed that the sub had only rescued the Italian POW there were being transported on the Laconia.

He also assumed the U-boats were a potential threat to Allied rescue ships and a nearby Allied airbase.
>>
>>34275232
basically the USAAF was trigger happy, ad while it was legally dubious that a U-Boat should have used a Red Cross, the fact of the matter was they were the only ship in the area capable of saving those lives.

The Actions of the USAAF had longer lasting effects. Admiral Donitz was furious with this and forbade any further German intervention for stranded sailors. Something he ended up getting called out for at Nuremberg. Donitz ended up getting Chester Nimitz sworn testimony that not only did he do the same as Donitz, he did it far more ruthlessly in the pacific. This pretty much negated any sort of further attempts to prosecute him as well as forcing trials against the Luftwaffe leadership to be dropped

Has anyone else noticed that north Korea has buzz bombs. Is north Korea literally going to be the new "bad guy"?

You realize everyone has cruise missiles, right? And that the V1 was just a primitive cruise missile?
>>
>>34275394
modern cruise missiles are supposed to be guided and used to target military hardware only.
buzz bombs, on the other hand, are dumb projectiles and fall wherever. only useful against civilian targets.

much like firebombing tokyo, or nuking nagasaki and hiroshima.

I'm planning on leaving my guns behind for a few years. How do I store them so they aren't destroyed in a few years from sitting? I have a few ARs, some rifles with wood stocks and some polymer pistols and one stainless steel revolver. My plan is to rent an indoor climate controlled storage unit. I was going to break the rifles down and lock them in my tool box and the pistols will fit fine. But that's as far as I got with my plan. How do I ensure my guns don't rust as they sit? I know to keep them out of soft cases. Do i just fill plastic bags with cosmoline and stuff the guns inside? I don't have anyone who can periodically check on them or anyone I can leave the guns with.

Honestly, I'd bury them then probably. If you get a storage unit you better pay your shit or it'll be on one of those storage pawn shop TV shows.

Hey guys maybe I'm just stupid but wouldn't having a flashlight on your gun make it easy for a home intruder to know where you are and ambush you?

It's meant to have a shit ton of lumens and temporarily blind your opponent. Not to see in the dark.
>>
your right, you are stupid.

Seriously though, unless you live in some mansion with lots of hallways and such that is a non issue. You leave the light off until you are on them and then use your light to ID them before opening fire. That way you don't tactically assassinate your brother in law or your wife or whoever might have legit reason to be in your home at 3am.

What blows my mind is when I'm looking at a current production NIB gun and there's just post after post of sellers who are nowhere NEAR their competitor's prices. They think I'm gonna pay $75-$100 more for their identical product because why? It's not like they can't see what things are selling for themselves...
>>
The wear on the finish suggests it might be a bit overpriced, but the whole setup being original/matching is pretty impressive.
>>
I imagine it's a company that does consignments and they list on gunbroker

When the day comes that it's affordable and possible, would you ever consider trading in your gun(s) for laser weapons?
8 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
>>34274223
I'd probably save and purchase a laser pistol or two.

But in all honesty, the body armor we would develop against laser/energy weaponry probably wouldn't be nearly as effective against kinetic weaponry.
Therefore I'd (eventually) be at a fairly good advantage over energy weaponry people if I kept at least some of my old bullet firing weaponry.
>>
Seeing the current turn of events, we probably would not get any Lasgun without fingerprint sensors, gps trackers and it's own instagram profile.

How often is / was using captured enemy weapons against them actually done? Particularly in the pacific. Seeing as how the muhreens were very undersupplied most of the time, I'm sure it was pretty common.

Pic related.

>were very undersupplied most of the time,
Maybe those trapped in the Philippines, or on Wake Island.

Generally the only time captured weapons would see service against their former owners is either in dire circumstances, or when such weapons were easily fit into a logistics chain (like pic related, a Belgian soldier with a Turkish Mauser captured by the British in Palestine or Gallipoli)

Are the ones found on bodies after a battle / captured at least collected and destroyed so they don't fall back into enemy hands?
>>
In ww2 there was alot of the usage of enemy equipment like tanks all the way down to radios.

34th Regiment of Foot here. Anybody else here sent to the West Indies? By some miracle, I was never touched by shot, shell, or saber, but I must've caught yellow fever three times along with various other damnable ailments. Had to sit out the last big push into Havana. 'Twas shitting my guts out. Don't much care if I never see that side of the Atlantic again.
