A documentary mentions the difficulties the allies faced in the Bocage of France. "They could see us, but we couldn't see them".
How does heavy forest and foliage not go both ways?
For example, if you had to fight in a thick tall grassy march, and the enemy is probably in there waist deep with mud on their face and leaves on their body, wouldn't the sensible thing to do be wipe mud on your face, put leaves on your body, and go in waist deep?
Wouldn't the odds be leveled then when both sides don't have superior concealment over the other?
>>34509448
home field advantage
>>34509448
if onesides moving and the other is still or concealed. the side thats moving is at a disadvantage
>>34509448
its easy to go prone and muddy when you are static and have to defend.
its not so easy when you need to move at a quick pace in order to make your objective on time
>holds one more round than the glock
>mechanically almost the same
>about 200 dollars cheaper
Tell me again why why someone would carry a glock over a S&W SD9?
>inb4 muh trigger
In the heat of the moment trigger pull isn't going to matter much when they're adrenaline rushing through your veins. Not to mention, I like a long trigger pull on a weapon with no real safety aside from the trigger itself.
Cuz the M&P exists.
>>34509428
Anything made by Smith is good but the M&P is a whole other tier of handguns.
>>34509422
Glock may have been the pioneer. But it's no longer the king. The competition took note in the 90's and have caught up. Now most companies offer a polymer frame/striker fired/ super reliable pistol that meets or exceeds glock quality oftentimes at less cost to the consumer.
That's just the way of things. If your idea revolutionizes an industry and becomes widely lauded among consumers and critics alike the competition is going to follow you. Glocks are still good guns its just that there are other options now. People touting glock above all, just aren't paying attention. The probably why they got a glock to begin with.
I'm looking at getting into an AR-15 but I'm sort of torn between getting a standard 5.56 barrel or a 300 blackout barrel.
It seems like 300 blackout would have a lot more power but I feel like the ammo would be a lot harder to find than 5.56. What do?
>>34509184
.300 is just 7.62x39 made to fit ARs better. Go with 5.56
>>34509192
For what reason though?
>>34509184
Unless you have a specific reason for .300, it's best to go with a standard .223 for an AR
If you're worried about stopping power, just get something in 7.62

Cut funding.
So /k/, I've been seeing some PASGT helmets at surplus stores and LGSs going for $70 on average, and I want one to go with my woodland BDUs. Only issue is, they all look pretty damn old, and seeing how they're made of kevlar, they might be degraded past the point of functionality (I'd at least want it to be intact enough to be able to stop a few pistol caliber rounds and not just look cool). So assuming they aren't rendered completely useless from age, should I buy one and spend extra on giving it a new cover, suspension system and chin strap? Or should I be looking for something else entirely and get it when I'm not poor so that I have a guaranteed functional helmet?
I haven't found anything too definitive on what the actual useful life of a PASGT is, so I hope you guys know
Pic related, I'd like to have that elastic strap as well to keep a ten round AR mag in or something
>>34507383
things like uv and dampness degrade kevlar, being encased in epoxy and covered in paint protects against that. as long as it isn't beat to hell it will last longer than you. they are going to offer as much protection if not more as the newer kevlar helmets cut for weight and coms.
there are suspension systems occasionally available pretty cheaply the usual places.
I'm also looking at PASGT.
Bump for solidarity
>>34507383
I support you looking for some dome protection. I would get a good bump helmet first.
Take a look at the helmets at Tactical Night Vision Company. They range from cheap but ok, to fuckin guchi vendi prada

What do you think talked to cause this
>inb4 lol muhreens
>>34507348
It was carrying quite a bit of ammunition, I'm guessing it came loose and threw off the plane's CG.
There was quite a bit of fuel at the crash site, I doubt it had quadruple engine failure, it was flying across fairly flat terrain, it's not a pressurised plane so it wasn't an oxygen or pressurisation issue and the C-130 has manual control reversion if the hydraulic controls fail.
Maybe it could have had a fuel system failure, but IIRC no single pump failure should be able to stop fuel flowing to all 4 engines. Not sure how the oil system works on the C-130, but I'd assume each engine has their own pump system that works off each engine's accessory drive.
>>34509079
(For those not familiar with planes; that's not footage of the C-130, that's footage of a 747 cargo variant that was transporting MRAPs out of Bagram; one broke loose during take-off, knocked at least a second MRAP free and they slid to the back, causing it to stall; IIRC there were 4 crew that died in the crash).

Ordering a match weight for the 45 Friday
Can someone tell me objectively why the RAS-47 is a bad AK? I know it's not the best, but what would stop someone from upgrading it to be a great AK? It's cheap and the one I fired (pic related) operated flawlessly.
Also, it's one of the few widely available AKs in the USA. With the market this tight, why shouldn't I buy one for my first AK?
I suggest you search akfiles.com for your answer. Lot's of good info there.

AKs aren't like ARs where you can swap out the non-shit parts. Unless you own some specialized tools and know how to use 12-ton presses and blowtorches and rivets and shit, once a part's on an AK, it's basically there forever.
