How do you deal with this shit? Do you just buy another monitor?
Turn it off and turn on a lamp somewhere else. It's attracted to light. I had an ant in my TV once.
Can I get a picture of it? I've never seen anything like that.
>>61057632
Already tried that, left the screen off next to a lamp all night and when I turned it on the next day lil nigga was still chilling in there.
Also tried kiting him by applying pressure next to him, managed to get him to the edge but he just wouldn't get out.
Guess I'll just buy a new monitor.

Pic related.
Dumb question but is there anyway to recover deleted files. I don't know how but i managed to accidentally delete my external hard drive files there were a lot of porn and different documents and pictures. I also don't have a backup of the external hard drive files i try using Recuva but it only managed to get some files back like only 25% can /g/ help me out?

If your drive wasn't using a journaling filesystem (e.g. ext4) you have to use a file carving recovery system such as foremost or R-Studio.
If your volume is small and you have a journaling filesystem then you can reasonably recover a lot of files using undelete functionalities. It is also worth mentioning to avoid writing to the drive to overwrite any data.

Alpine Linux
What's your stance on the Linux vs GNU/Linux meme and why ?
The kernel for all intents and purposes, is the operating system. Having a kernel is the only necessary and sufficient condition for a piece of software to be an operating system. Everything else, ie all the stuff GNU contributed to "Linux" are just extra (though practically most of it is necessary).
rms is being autistic about "GNU/Linux" because he wants credit and control over it. Guy hasn't even programmed anything in like 20 years but thinks he deserves credit for anything that can be linked to his philosophy that Torvalds doesn't even follow.
Linux = Android + Alpine + Normal Distros
GNU/Linux = Normal Distros
GNU = Normal Distros + Debian GNU/Hurd + Arch Hurd
I just say GNU when i imply Linux distros since Android is a fucking piece of shit and use Linux when I'm talking to not so tech-savvy people
petty shit like this is one of the reasons linux hasn't reached mainstream acceptance

Screen burn from static elements. High costs at larger panel sizes. Uneven wearing of subpixels so the colour changes over time.
Done. Next time ask this kind.of thing in the stupid questions thread.

Mostly C/C++ for starters.

XFCE is great.
I love XFCE.
It's lightweight, and with the right shortcuts, icon themes and panel extensions it looks and feels great too.
But it sucks.
XFCE sucks ass.
XFCE does bullshit move after bullshit move.
I'm talking of course about how XFCE handles multiple monitors.
I'm on a W520 (ThinkPad), with a Q2000M (Nvidia) gpu, and two external monitors attached. And XFCE consistently craps its pants. (changing my primary screen, duplicating my screens instead of extending them, opening windows on the wrong screen, putting the panel on the wrong screen or straight out crashing XOrg)
XFCE also messes with my drivers (steam can't find driver directory... rollback driver, install steam, update driver, steam still works (though this is just a side note as I don't really game anymore))
So...
What do?
Is there a DE that plays nice with Nvidia graphics cards and multiple screens that can be customized to this extent? I used KDE plasma for a while before I discovered the potentials of ricing, and didn't like it... maybe give KDE another chance?
I'm currently on W10, because I was under high stress with uni projects (everyone assuming I'm on Windows, and me trying to get ms files to work on libre/openoffice or trying to get autoCAD to work and shit, now I want to dive back in.
Anyone know a good DE for this?

>Part of the Wayland project is also the Weston reference implementation of a Wayland compositor. Weston can run as an X client or under Linux KMS and ships with a few demo clients. The Weston compositor is a minimal and fast compositor and is suitable for many embedded and mobile use cases.
So Weston is a compositor that works on Wayland and X? Or only Wayland?
>Wayland is developed by a group of volunteers initially led by Kristian Hogsberg as a free and open community-driven project with the aim of replacing the X Window System with a modern, simpler windowing system in Linux and other Unix-like operating systems.[7] The project's source code is published under the terms of the MIT License, a permissive free software licence.[8][4]
Because it seems that while Wayland seems neat, it seems like it doesn't have nearly as many people supporting it, and if I would fuck something up, I'd be on my own.
Can anyone confirm this?
Does Weston work fine on X, or am I misreading fsf's description of Weston?
>>61056947
Or is XWayland the way to go then? It seems like its pretty much X with Wayland capabilities.

Yeah windows is a disgrace. I understand that some adults simply refuse to grow out of playing video games but it's still shocks and appalls me that people actually shill for windows given how shit it is.
1.- Sign-in actually takes half a sec, if not less, unless you have something actually worse than my interent speed and my cpu
2.- Configure your keyboard properly, faggot
3.- The fuck machine and connection do you have, dude!?
4.- Tell it to remind you 4 hours later or just save and restart, you cunt
5.- You don't need to
6.- You don't need to, either. Also, you would have restarted earlier if you stopped complaining like a fag
7.- Install a fucking antivirus or activate Windows Defender, then it'll shut up
8.- You created your issues yourself, anon.

what's the difference between playing a 4k youtube video with h264 vs vp9? And what about h265? I thought that was supposed to be for 4k?
H265 is dead for web use. Forget about it.
VP9 will have higher decoding requirements than h264

Licensing costs to multiple parties each with their own conditions make it less attractive to adopt if the company isn't in the patent pool.
Alliance for open media was formed to try and combat that by developing open multimedia standards that aren't bogged down by the broadcast giants, at least for themselves. The current major development is AV1 video encoding standard that takes place of VP10. This year will see more developments. This is what you will see used on the web.

yes, this is it: using shitty open source browsers has nothing to do with security. they are only used by fat neckbeard hipsters who just HAVE to be different. they use these shitty browsers purely so that someone may one day see them and ask about it. they live for this foot-in-the-door moment, so they can launch into their autistic tirade about how "jewgle" and "sjwfox" can't be trusted. it is their only reason to exist.
