How does /an/ feel about zoos?
>>2325779
I like them. You can check out animals to the extreme.
Depends on the zoo. Roadside zoos are bad. Decent zoos are not so bad on animal care. They can be owned by corrupted Jews, but it doesn't always affect the welfare of the animals
>>2325779
good zoos are cool. I wish those "muh freedom" hippies would shut up. captivity is necessary for some of these endangered animals, and it's not like spending all the day trying t not starve and not get eaten is more enjoyable than being able to sit lazily all day.
>been wanting a monitor since childhood
>love reptiles in general
>live in cold-ass northern Scandinavia
It's unfeasible for me to move to a temperate climate, and even country import laws prevent me from owning a reptile pet. Post gripes about pets you want, but can't have.
>>2322592
Monitors are mean as fuck. When I was a kid a family friend had a 5 foot long raptor monitor. Fucking terrible pet
>>2322592
>want a leopard gecko or a sand boa
>know I won't be able to afford it for a while (recently got into an illustration career)
I've wanted these for years, I wish I could just get both right now and give them beautiful terrariums
I also want a dog, but I'm constantly fatigued and am a paranoid, so walking it twice a day and playing with it would be hard for me, not to mention training. It could either be therapeutic or be a disaster.

My old roommates had 2 Savannah monitors and they were fantastic. They were dogs with scales that would greet you at the door asking for pets, lay on you on the couch, and fall asleep when scratched in a line on their heads.
Only got bitten once and that was because I was fussing at it for trying to dig under the roommates' door when unbeknownst to me, one of the roommates had had a mental break and kicked him across the room earlier that day. She left and the monitor improved. He does try and nibble at my shoes when I go visit though. Probably smells like my dog and cat

Dogs are seriously shuckin jivin' supplicating chinese people food. They're still cute and all but god damn what pieces of shit.
Any animal you can convince to die for humans is worthless outside of war. Horses and dogs, fuck em.
Old thread >>2279224
A little quick on the draw there, champ.
>>2296583
Not really. The old thread had maxed out by a couple posts when I made this one, and will be gone within the day (it's at the tailend of page 9 atm).
I should have linked it, but the timing was fine.
I want a Ragdoll cat, but I'm not sure if I should buy pedigree. I've owned one cat and three dogs in my life. All were adopted/rescued. I think that taking in animals from shelters should always be my first choice. At the same time, I really like the way Ragdolls look. Everyone of them I've met has been gentle and has had a good demeanor. Which matters now that my family members and friends have started to have kids. They seem like great cats. I'm just not sure what to do about it.
Pedigree matters with very few cats and ragdolls are not one of them
And I say that as someone who actually really likes and knows cats
>>2325381
Are you saying I should or shouldn't get a pedigree. I don't necessarily mean one with showpapers. Just as in, I know what breed the cat is. Rather that whatever I find in a shelter.
>>2325384
Dont get one is what I'm saying because it wont matter unless you are getting something like a Maine Coon, or any other specialty breed.
Ragdolls arnt a specialty breed
I hate these flying spiders what are they!!!
They are male mosquitos
>terrified of spiders
>see one of these things in my house
>freak the fuck out thinking it's an actual spider
>once I see it in motion my fear is completely gone
Crane fly.
Hoping this so the right board to ask this.
I am a long time dog owner thinking about getting a cat. I currently have a dog about 2 years old he's roughly the size of cat. Hes energetic sometimes but does well around other animals, even befriended a stray cat a week ago.
What should I be looking out for or worrying about when I get a cat?
Pic related is my dog
If you adopt a cat some shelters will let you bring in your dog to see their reactions.
Cats that are known dog lovers are what you want to look for if your dog is already not a cat chaser.
Usually, shelters will say whether the cat is good with dogs/other animals or not. Slowly introducing them is a good idea, too. You can also let the cat stay in a room for a day with the door closed, so they can sniff each other through the door first.
Good luck, your dog is cute af

Slow intro is always a good idea, Another idea is to feed them both near the door so they can associate the scent with good things.
I want to keep an indoor koi in my home office. Tips, tanks, etc? Please help.
>>2326354
Is this bait? Koi arent tank fish
>>2326354
Get a goldfish.
Last time I checked years ago, monsterfishkeepers forum had some people who build some really cool indoor ponds. Not the biggest but big enough for about three, or just had some large goldfish.
It's possible but prepare for it to cost. Koi get very large and need the space. They can live in tanks but you'll be spending a pretty penny to find one big enough or you can build your own. I'm talking 200+ gallons here. A small tank will just kill them quickly. Koi and goldfish can live 30+ years.
There are also plenty of beautiful goldfish you can look into instead. Most can also grow large but they sound more up your alley.
My cat Shakey is having dental extraction surgery on the first to remove a tooth that is driving into her gum and creating a hole. Apparently her jaw is misaligned and the problem has been getting worse over the years so much so that she seems to be in lots of pain. Shes drooling often now, but trying to remain cheery.
How can I help her pain? Earlier Shakey jumped on my lap and allowed me to hold her jaw open so the tooth wouldn't press into the hole, but I can't sit there and hold her mouth open forever. Is there anything I can do until surgery day?
no one cares about your stupid defective cat
>>2326238
Give her weed. Smoke that pussy up.
Maybe oralgel. I don't know if it's safe for animals, and your cat may damage the area more if it's numb and it doesn't know.
But it would provide temporary pain relief.
I think my birds are gay
>>2326225
Looks like a male on left and female on the right so no gay.
>>2326229
Nope, both boys
>>2326225
fuck dude you need to take them to see your pastor ASAP
Haven't been here in a while, does the faggot that tortures animals still shitpost here?
Which one?
I haven't seen any of them now. The new one is some guy who posts in every single cat thread talking about how they are filthy worthless vermin.
Everyone ignores him though so it isn't too bad.

My grandparents left me this "jade" tree I've been told, and I would really like to not kill it. How much water/sunlight does it need and should I give it any fertilizer?
>>2326053

>>2326072
This is why your board sucks.
>>2326117
This is why you suck.
>he calls animals "it"
why are you alive and well?
>>2325886
Because I say I'm alive and well.
Also because I honestly couldn't tell unless I went up to the dog/cat and stared at its groin. Generally I don't do that unless I'm making sure it doesn't have bot fly larva.
Exception for some animals, since their sacs are generally are big and free swinging.
>>2325899
>I honestly couldn't tell unless I went up to the dog/cat and stared at its groin
do you do the same thing with humans?
>>2325907
