Black cat thread?
Pic related is Blue. Love him to death. He loves belly rubs.

I'd also post a pic of his sister but I'm not at home right now. Have another pic of Blue.
I took this pic when we were having construction upstairs and they had to live in the basement for a week. Someone was making noise upstairs and he full on spidermanned up the wall into a crack between the floor above and the wall. He sat there for a good half hour and finally left. He was dirty as fuck but I cleaned him.
My bb boy Mini. He was such a shy kitten but he stuck around and we kept him. Now he's the sweetest and most behaved boy, my other cats jump on the counters and eat food left out but he doesn't even look if you leave a plate of chicken right in front of him.
thats crazy my black kitty hates belly rubs
My cat just knocked over some liquid bleach (Hydrogen Peroxide so not quite as dangerous as chlorine based stuff thankfully) and it spilled over the floor. I panicked and removed the cat from the room then wiped the spill, mopped the floor down to rinse what was left off, then wiped up that spill as well. Nothing got close to the food (which is canned anyway) so I'm not particularly worried about that. I've kept that room off limits while everything dries up.
I didn't catch the incident right away, probably took me about 30 seconds to respond to the crashing sound and then another minute or so to figure out what had fallen + remove my cat from the area. I'm kind of worried that some of the solution might have gotten onto his paws. Is this a significant risk? Hydrogen Peroxide is a mild skin irritant but is especially bad if it gets into contact with the eyes. Swallowing it is obviously not a good idea either. Should I be worried that my cat licking his paws could cause problems or is that small an amount probably not going to do anything?
(Sorry if this is the wrong board. First time posting on /an/ and, like I said, I kind of panicked when I saw spilled chemicals and my cat in the same room)

Get a wet paper towel and try to clean the paws off. He'll probably lick his paws before rubbing his eyes but just in case, you should wash them off. A tiny amount digested should be able to be handled by the body.
Make him pay for that.

Thank you, I'll try that.

DELET THIS!
Is this a good length? I've always had small dogs and easy cuts, never cut a quick. Got this guy's quick twice already and Im so nervous now. Nails keep breaking on me too, are the clippers too dull?
Flexed. They got some curve to them. The dew claws have stronger curve. The undersides really hollowed out so it's like they just crumble under the cutters. Do those electric files really work?
Their nails don't have to be short, just not so long that it's going to fuck with their paws or cause pain. You can also cut at angles on each nail (I usually cut the side facing away from the paw, then the top, then the other side, being careful to avoid pinching)
Yes, the electric file can work, but unless it's a dremmel, you can't really get the sides.
I am a middle aged man and I love my cat. He is cool and a good companion. He appreciates that I take care of him.
Sometimes I feel like society expects men to own dogs and you are a cuck if you enjoy cats. I am straight though. Will women judge me negatively and think I'm gay for having a cat?
Does liking cats mean I'm a lesbian? srsly I'm worried.
Anybody who says that is an idiot. Dogs and cats are not gender exclusive.
If you're attracted to men, you're gay. If you're attracted to women, you're straight. Pet choice has nothing to do with it.
It's a new stereotype based on a little bit of truth. There are a lot of guys/girls who are seen as selfish/millennial or even feminine/feminist cause of enjoying ONLY cats.
But if it is what you like, not much can be done..who care?
Judging that you're middle aged and alone, you've got bigger things to worry about.
Hey /an/ check out my fly new pup. Throw him a rating.
Good think he's cute because I swear he has mashed potato for brains.
cool

Buying a shiba in general is a good idea. Their so damn aborable
>>2325139
If you have the time and patience to properly train it, a shibe can be a great dog. I'm assuming you've done some basic research, so you'll know that they're notoriously stubborn and aloof. Don't expect a cuddly love bug. It's going to test its limits early on and it's gonna be a little shit, as Japanese dogs are wont to do. They tend to only bond with one person fully, so hopefully that ends up being you and not one of your parents. They can also be pretty aggressive to other dogs.

Anyone on /an/ own chickens?
About how much does it cost to keep them as pets per chicken, about per month?
Was planning on buying a house and some land in Pennsylvania and getting a nice big free range for chickens.
We've had them for quite a few years now. The price depends on how many you get. Ours aren't free ranged though, predators kept taking them. A sac of feed usually goes for about $20, again give or take how good it is or how much you need. We have 1 cock and 4 hens, and one sac usually gets us through 2-3weeks, but if your free ranging they'll be able to find more food for themselves. However, free range birds will sometimes lay their eggs out in the field, so it might be good to start them closed, get them used to their environment, then open them up. Also, chickens will eat literally anything, just save scraps from meals and feed them off that.

Thanks. I was thinking of getting quite a few chickens, probably something like 6 to 10 maybe, and utilizing a large portion of my back yard for a range.
I was trying to think of creative ways to stop coyotes and foxes from getting to them, about all I could think of was putting bricks in front of the chicken wire to discourage them from digging.
And if need be, I should be allowed to shoot them, I think. Still familiarizing myself with firearms laws in PA but I haven't found anything that said I can't shoot pests in my yard as long as there's no noise issue with the neighbors.
There's a whole lot to chickens I never knew about. Doesn't sound so bad to keep them alive though, maybe a bit expensive if I want to build a big coop for the wintertime and harsh weather.
I read their diet should be primarily pellets to fulfill their nutritional needs then meal leftovers and such.
Are chickens stupid like turkeys or are they capable of realizing when they're full and not eating to death like dogs? If it starts raining are they intelligent enough to be able to get in the coop?
>>2324814
A good way to stop predators is to put up a reflector or a small, blinking light, this will trick most small predators into thinking a much larger animal is there and scare them off. and as for weather, getting the right breed helps a lot. we are in central NY, and have mostly Rhode Island Reds and Plymouth rocks, both are great breeds for the New England climate and are great meat and egg birds, although reds can be kinda of aggressive sometimes. and yes, chickens, unlike ducks, turkeys, guinea hens, are one of the only birds that will head to coops for shelter, which is why many people raise baby turkeys and stuff with chickens so they learn to return to the coop at night
Hello guys, six months ago I bought a basilisk
They told me it was a "blue" Basiliscus plumifronsâ„¢ male
Now, six months have passed, and I'm pretty sure that this fucker is not going to turn blue at any minute, so have I been ripped off? Is this a Basiliscus vittatus/Basiliscus basiliscus?
Thank you for your help in advance
also, is it REALLY a male? it shows no sign of crests at the moment, apart from a small stump on the back of his head
I love him anyways but boy would he fail my expectations

Discuss anything aquarium related here, including inhabitants, decor and issues.
Google is your friend.
Feel free to ask questions but know that there are a lot of resources out there that could answer your question a lot faster and accurately than /an/.
Make sure to include these things in your post before asking because we can't help you if we don't have the full picture:
-tank size (include dimensions, not just volume)
-parameters (ammonia, nitrate, nitrite, pH, GH, KH)
-any and all inhabitants + how long you've had them

is it possible with enough filtration to not do any water changes for saltwater? I don't know anything about salt water tanks really.
I have a cage that's ment for rabbits but the thing is it's only big enough for 1, i can't keep a social animal alone. So instead i decided to ask /an/ for some solitary rodents, oh and can guinea pigs be fine alone? As a kid i had 1 guinea pig, she seemed pretty fine with being alone.

Why do gophers and some other rodents have nasty orange teeth?
It means they're healthy. White incisors teeth actually indicates poor health in rodents.

The teeth is composed of cementrum. Different tooth mechanics than human teeth.
