We don't know.
I believe they confirmed not all trials will involve a battle, but at the same time they didn't confirm how many trials there would be.
There might be 16 trials with 8 of them being boss battles, for example.

They will involve a battle with the Totem Pokemon. I highly doubt you'll battle any of the Captains, maybe during the postgame as a bonus. There are at least four Kahuna who you will battle. I honestly hope there will be more Kahuna but eh, it's heavily implied there's just one per island

People don't love it because it's difficult (or at least very few does). It's certainly not pure bullshit either, whatever that means in this regard. Please explain what you mean.

I like it because it takes a region that is nice to explore, make some small changes that make playing it more pleasant. The progression is nice (only game with a better progression level wise is BW2 in my experience). It expands on the dex by including all the pokémon DP should have had and then some more (without going full retard size dex like Kalos), changes up several trainers in the process so the game feels more fresh and (slightly) different than DP. It keeps the overall atmosphere and music from DP, and I'm overall fond of the visual style.

It has a better frontier than Emerald in my opinion, but I can see why people would disagree with that. I would love to see a gen VII battle roulette with stuff like triple battles, rotation battles, inverse battle etc. etc. as additions.

Pretty much this, but I disagree with you on the Kalos Dex. One of that games biggest strengths is the sheer variety of mons you can choose from.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with having more options in my opinion.

The leaks have other confirmed imagery in them,and that is simply why.

Though I do kind of hope that the Litten evo line isnt a fucking wrestling cat and here's why:

Really...do you even read up on the Pokemon, going from a 'keep it cool' Litten to a more feral Torracat to a hotheaded Litten3, makes sense.

Blastoise looks nothing like Squirtle/Wartortle

Chesnaught looks nothing like Chespin/Quilladin.
Torterra looks nothing like Turtwig/Grotle

This has probably been discussed already... But why the fuck is Game Freak so resistant about making difficulty levels on Pokemon games? It seems like at first it was just an oversight, but it's gotten to the point where now I think they're holding it back, just out of spite.

Every rpg, or adventure game I can think of has SOME form of difficulty rating. It's really not that huge of a deal, so why Game Freaks..why are Earth are you so resistant to applying this mechanic to pokemon..I actually think it'd have a lot of potential.

May some pokemon wouldn't be available if you play in baby mode, or only certain evolution styles and looks are available to harder modes...There's so much possibility but they just refuse to do this. /rant.

I agree there should be difficulty settings but the most famous RPG franchise (final fantasy) usually doesn't have these so it's not really unheard of.
