Although I admit the design has grown on me, I still feel like its really.. not cohesive. The only thing a sealion has in common with a clown and a strongman is that they're all "circus things."

Sea lions and clowns are both known for doing silly tricks, so it makes sense there, but strongman feels pretty hamfisted. What is the conneciton there beyond the aforementioned "they're both things that circuses have"? I feel like the guy should have picked one theme instead of trying to smoosh both together.

I get that "stronk and scary but also fun and nice" is part of the appeal, though.

Actually, the strongman concept and the sea lion have a similarity in the sense that sea lions are mostly known for great upper body strength. Strongmans usually known for their great strength so. He probably thought giving the design a acrobat/strongman would be a fit in that sort of way. Ironically, even though it's supposed to be the Clown pokemon, he doesn't really have much depicting him like so, more like doing acrobatics and stunts, which I suppose he took from Popplio himself.

I think I might also know why he made the design's hands like so besides the whole blatant Water/Fighting combination, he probably thought it'd be better for the designs' hands to evolve in order to better perform certain abilities (juggle, handstand, certain acrobatics and what not) and to not make it just "bigger Popplio but with barely anything different".

None taken, I happened to have a childhood where I'd see my anime on a clown tv show with a colorful duo don't even ask, grew immensely used to them and my town just happens to have circuses that come visit every now and then. It's often rare to see a place not with a poster with a clown's face plastered in here.

I'm no clown expert, I just happen to not mind them at all and they're really just trying their best, depending on what kind they are. I often hear clowns are dying out culturally though, which is quite a shame.

Oh, I heard about those. Yeah, not sure what's going on there. I keep assuming it's because of some bad TV show bad influence clown or maybe it's some sort of marketing (although I find that too unlikely, although I heard there was a upcoming remake, prequel or sequel to Stephen King's It). America really seems affected by this whole "killer/scary clown" thing, it's gotten to a point where it starts to freak anyone out, pranks, what not. And I think that started to spread to other countries too, even France, which was pretty much clown country.

Although I'm a light-hearted person, I honestly don't find any of that funny at all.

Fuck you, I hated Ballio but again, so much good fanart made me want it to be real.
