Why would anyone play Pokémon in 2016?

>still no visibly roaming wild Pokémon
>Still has a separate battle screen
>Still can't join the evil team
>still no job/crafting system
>still no path to become a gym leader
>still no open nonlinear world
>still no proper fort building
>still no customizable appearance, other than gender
>still no different character classes with their own dis/advantages
>still no decent breeding system

i noticed something when watching the reveal.
in the lycanroc reveal we saw the midday form during the day and the midnight form at night.

the theme of this gen seems to be different paths, with alolan versions of old pokemon and version exclusive evolution already confirmed.

is this just aesthetic? or is this deliberate?
if they were going for aesthetic, shouldn't the owl be at night?
