First, the Pokemon they listed are all from mostly ambiguous or already feminine lines, the ambiguous being Eevee, Ralts, Fennekin etc. with others like Smoochum and Bunneary being feminine to begin with.

Second, the problem people have with Brionne is rooted from their expectations and the general consensus that Popplio is ""masculine"". Popplio was considered to be a clown, we associate clowns with males, therefore Popplio was seen as male. The idea was that Popplio was going to end up as a big, goofy, masculine clown. rip Ballio
This is why Brionne left a sour taste in people's mouths, because it didn't seem to have much of a transition from masculine to feminine.
