Pretty cheap at the moment senpai, you will get a lot of ruble for your capitalist pig currency and while there is inflation, prices haven't fully adjusted to the new rate.

Basically every bit of our coast is beautiful, there are hundreds of beautiful towns and islands.

You can't fail with anything. Check out NP Krka and Plitvice too.

If you like amusement parks, Kings Island is close to the freeway between Dayton and Cincinnati. If you like history, Carillon Historical Park in Dayton has a couple of neat things, like one of the original Wright Brothers airplanes. They have one of the strangest carousels I've ever seen, as well.

Also, once you get to the Smokies, check out Dollywood. They are opening a huge new ride when the park opens later this month called Lightning Rod, which is the world's first launching wooden roller coaster. All of its rides are set inside a mountain valley and use the uneven terrain extensively. The food is excellent, too.

If I was going to Petra, I would be sure to watch the cool engineering aspect of the history of it. I greatly enjoyed their episode of NOVA, Petra: lost city of stone. It answers some of the water and other engineering marvels of sculpting that rock.

Hey /trv/

A friend and I are most probably going to roadtrip in the US this summer. The plan is to land in Seattle and to drive to San Francisco in two weeks (15 days) and then to go home to whatever boring awaits.
Anyway I need a few tips from you:
- How much time do you think we should be spending in Olympic national park ? I was thinking 2 as to have time to explore a bit and to take pictures (not too fond of hiking and such but I don't walking a bit)
- How is Mount Rainier NP ? How much time should we stop there ?
- The road is almost decided up to Crater Lake. Nevertheless from there to San Francisco is quite "dull" so to speak. Are we better off driving along the Pacific Coast (which we would have seen from almost Seattle to Portland) or should head inland toward Yosemite (with, however a day spent around Sacramento doing nothing but driving ?) Which would you recommend ? I know they are quite different but I just want opinions here !

Thanks !

Instead of just seeing the Olympic Peninsula, you might consider seeing some of Canada too. After you're done with Seattle, head North to Anacortes and take a ferry to the San Juan Islands. Spend a night on one of the islands then take another ferry to Victoria, Canada. Victoria is super cool because it's on a gigantic island and is the capitol of British Columbia. Next you can ferry to the Olympic Peninsula, where you will arrive in Port Townsend. You can do a lot of neat day hikes -- hike out to Dungeness Lighthouse, or see the rainforest by the Elwha river, or see some of the biggest trees in the world in Quinault. And you can see Forks, Washington which is where Twilight takes place.

Most of the Oregon coast is much more populous than the Washington coast. There's great breweries, an aquarium, tidepools, sand dunes, and plenty of hikes. The Oregon coast south of Coos Bay becomes much more sparsely populated. One of the advantages of going to California on the coast is that you can see the redwoods which are the tallest trees in the world. A major disadvantage is that the coast highway is very curvy and has a lower speed limit than I-5.

Hi /trv/. I just booked my first holiday tickets to Barcelona, Spain. The flight is on 21st April (arriving at night) until 24th (departing at night). Could anyone suggest me places to visit? Mostly sightseeing, dining, nightlife and hike a mountain with a great view to chill and enjoy. Also, what cheap motels/hostels could you suggest? Im ok with sleeping in a shitty place as long as it is in a good location and has a free Wifi.
Cheers mates.

Considering going here for about 9 days. Is that enough time to feel like I've seen the region well enough?

How is the nightlife and the women in these areas? I'm living in an alcohol-free, repressive country, so I really want to party, be out in nature, and check out some cool-ass buildings, in that order.

>I'm living in an alcohol-free, repressive country, so I really want to party, be out in nature, and check out some cool-ass buildings, in that order.

Then why the hell are Moldova and Transnistria your first pick? Just curious, I think those areas are more for adventureous traveling than for having casual fun. Cities like Berlin, Prague or Amsterdam would be the standard pick for that.
>>
>>1086849

I've been to Berlin before and the nightlife was really exclusive. No one I met during my week there got into any places worth raving about.

I've been to Amsterdam before, and not in the mood for doing any drugs -- I get really weird and paranoid when I smoke weed.

I've also seen many of the main places to see in Europe.

As for Moldova and Transnistria, I'd like to go there because I feel like those areas are going to change a LOT in the coming years, and it'll be my last time to be in Europe for a few years.

Portland is nice. Only really went there for dinner and drove around a bit so can't really give you advice on where to go.

If you aren't taking the Pacific Coast Highway to get there then I highly recommend you do.
>>
>>1086810
"Portlandia" does literally sum up Portland but it's not as obnoxious as the show makes it out to be. It's a fun little city, great nightlife, amazing food, a bit gentrified but not so gentrified/priced out as Seattle. Lots of festivals and community events. Real friendly people, I mean friendly to the point you'd think they were Canadians.

Only real downside is it is really liberal (only bad if you're a /pol/lack, again not super obnoxious about it), and the rain. It's constantly fucking raining.

this is my first post on /trv/ guys and I just have a question.
I'm 20 years old and I'm tired of my career here on Mexico (Graphic Design), so I wanna go Canada and work on something, this is my very resumed situation, I have like a 15K pesos, and a lot of energy, so I'm here for an advice, and also I wanna know if I need a Visa or something to live and work in Canada.

Like seriously dude, what the fuck? What do you think?
>>
>>1086401
You pretty much need a visa to migrate to any country. Visas will only grant you a certain amount of time in other countries, and there are various requirements you must meet to gain citizenship. Canada is specific requires you to state how long you'll be staying there there. Its not as easy as the US is at the moment where you can just come over and we'll give you housing, funding, and license for just being an illegal.

My recommendation if you're set on Canada is to find a working program online that will take you up and let you live/work in Canada until you're able to be a full fledged citizen. You'll be granted a working visa, so your stay should be more than enough.

I get that feeling before every trip I take. Right now I'm planning a 2 month trip myself, leaving in about a month and a half. I'm getting nervous just thinking about it. It happens every time.

Don't worry, the moment you get on that plane, or the moment you get off it on the other side of the world things will change. You'll realize you have to rely on yourself and there's no turning back and you'll be too pre-occupied with looking for transport, looking for food, looking for places to stay, looking at all the sights, and hanging out or partying with the people you meet to worry about things.

I've been on 3 extended solo trips in my life plus many other short ones or ones with family and I still get anxious when traveling.

If you have specific questions about Europe ask away.
>>
>>1088751
thanks for that
im not only doing this to find out more about myself, but that is also one of my goals. what are the chances this trip would make me more confident. im a relatively attractive buy but lack confidence... will this help, or not so much?

Don't know if these threads are common or not...but I currently only have eighty dollars in my account.
Is it plausible to live in my car in a city like Denver or Rapid City (biggest cities near me) and live okayish?
Would I have enough time to survive on this amount of money until I get a job at McDonald's or Walmart to get more income?

Also stories of similar experience or just general poor travel advice.

Labour Ready is your friend. 70 bucks cash for a days work, and a ride to and from the job site.

Think home depot might have a labor agency in the States as well.

It'll be shitty and cold. Bring a tent and a good sleeping bag, the car seat will fuck up your back. Get a library card so you can use their computers. Truck stops have pay showers, truckers always have stacks of shower tickets. Offer to wash their truck for a shower ticket, or just bum one ( a ticket not the trucker), use those to shower. Try to get a credit card and Max that out. Pay it back when things pick up for ya.

Sorry to hear about your situation anon, I've been there myself. You'll get through this, but it won't be fun. Good luck to ya.

If you're into sport you could check out the All Ireland Club Championship finals they're in Croke Park. Two games, one hurling and one football, good standard but the weather usually fucks up the hurling. You'll get a ticket for around 25 or 30 quid. Couldn't really recommend a pub coz I dont know, they're all gonna be full that day anyway. Hit Copper Faced Jacks for a real Irish nightclub feel. nothing modern about it, just a fuckin shitload of people hammered drunk.

>going to Ireland to drink Irish beer on most famous Irish holiday
>anon should drink at an American theme bar

My hair is very long and curly, frizzy and knots easily. I wash my hair every day or I'm not able to brush it, and I use hair spray/wax/mousse every day (which adds to the difficulty of brushing without showering, but even without it I get lots of knots). I'm planning to spend the next few years (hitch)hiking around, so I definitely won't be able to take care of my hair very often. I've been thinking about getting dreads, and while I don't dislike dreads, eventually I will want my natural hair back and then I'll have to cut it all off.
So, any femanons who have also travelled full hobo style, is it possible to combine unruly hair and travelling, and if so, how?

Shave it and wear a cap. Honest advice.

Not only will it be easier to manage, you can take a bar of soap to it and consider it done. Also you gotta think of safety, if you're gonna be tenting it and hitchhiking as a female, youve got to look tough, and nothing says "dont fuck with me" like a shaved head and tats.

I know that it isn't the most /fa/ choice, but looking like a tumblr dyke is way better than having a flea infested knot of nappy greasy messy hair on your head. And it will get that way if you don't have daily access to a shower.

With dreads you'll just look like another tryhard train kid or methed out cyber goth. You'll be discriminated against way harder than if you're a skinhead, not to mention the inevitability of lice, mould, and parasites. Dreads need to be washed and conditioned daily or they get real bad.
>>
>>1088523
As the previous Anon said, shaving is really the best, though you could just cut shorter.
Shaving is easier and cheaper to maintain as you can shave yourself. Cutting shorter may make you feel better in terms of feeling feminine but it's harder to keep it short by yourself (you'll likely have to go to a hair saloon or whatever you call it).
>>
>>1088523
>So, any femanons who have also travelled full hobo style, is it possible to combine unruly hair and travelling, and if so, how?
Sure...

You go hitchhiking you will stop to give a fuck about your hair after 3 days max. No hairspray, no wax no mousse.

Just brush your hair with a comb and do a simple ballet bun or a ponytail, looks good enough and is done in less than 20secs.

If you really care, you will find a hairdresser that will do a simple wash, cut tops and styling for 1-5€ almost anywhere outside of western europe.
