I know this is deep necromancy, and the idea has been gone for years, but who wants to try to resurrect Warhammer 50k?

The Ship is the Imperium. The Imperium is the Ship. The Ship is the Emperor. The Emperor is the Ship. All is the Ship. The Ship is All. The Ship Moves.

For those of you who don't know, the core premise is that the Imperium realized that it was impractical to attempt to defend itself against the Main Hive Fleet of the 'nids, who had a whole galaxy of biomass worth of warbeasts.

The Emperor managed to wake up for just long enough to order the construction of an enormous arkship to hold humanity. Holy Terra itself became the bridge, Mars the engine room.

Whole systems were strip-mined in the formation of the greatest single ship the galaxy has ever known. Trillions died in holding actions to allow its completion, and every single vehicle of the Imperium of Man was press-ganged into building and supplying it.

I'm looking to start a text-only game where the player manages a small settlement (200 souls top). This settlement can be mobile (caravan, ship fleet etc.). I'm looking for ruleset most suitable for this. Kicker is Ill put several settlements on one map so I'll need fair influence/combat system where the attacking side makes decisions and defending side acts automatically. Any suggestions?

>>

What you're looking for doesn't exist. What I'd do is look at 2nd edition D&D campaign setting Birthright, or the 5th edition D&D fan conversion from Marsupialmancer.

Alternatively, look at the Adventurer Conqueror King supplement "Domains at War". You can find that in the OSR General's trove.

For managing the settlement itself, look at Mutant Year Zero's ark rules.

What are the best third party suppliers for Warhammer40k compatible bits and figures?

Wargaming Exclusive has some alright figures, but I am not a fan of their Space Marine helmets, I make heavy use of Anvil Industry for weapons, and heads for the scouts.

What are other suppliers?

I had my first delivery from Anvil industries yesterday... kinda disappointed.

So I ordered some heads, cyborg legs and cyborg arms. I was assembling my Grey Hunter pack leader earlier and discovered that anvil industries fucked up my order. I have left and right cyborg forearms, however the upper arm which connects to the forearm at the elbow joint is only for right arms... Theres no shoulder joints included that fit the left forearms.
>>
>>55320338
I have had great experiences with Anvil Industries. Bring it to their attention i'm sure they will fix it for you.

I wont lie though, I have had some issues with the fit on some of their products. For instance. The cyborg legs for their Space Marine proxies do not really fit well onto the regular Space Marine bodies.

You know how space marine legs are rounded where the legs connect to the Torso? Well for the cyborg legs from Anvil Industry that rounded part is too big to fit the space marine torso so I had to spend like 20 minutes filing it down to the correct size.

Also they are not the same scale as Space Marine legs, I think they were meant to be true scale because they actually make standard space marines about as tall as a primaris marine.

The adjustable cyborg arms are a little bulky too. So if You have a standard marine with one standard arm and one Anvil Industry cyborg arm, he ends up looking lopsided.

Other than that I have had great experiences with them, unlike with Puppets war.

Kromlech is also a good one.
>>
>>55320539

I've had issues with Kromlech being massive and looking ridiculous. Cast quality is great, they just look silly on a Marine.

>This is taken from a session back in March of 1988. Godfrey, played by John Speck, dropped into a tavern in one of the seedier parts of City Amber. Notice how any wounds are based on whether or not tiny deceptions work or fail.

NOTE: The GM's lines are in >italics,
while John's are normal type.

>A woman, long of leg, approaches Godfrey. She smiles and holds out a remarkable hand. The hand features well-trimmed nails and fencing calluses. She wears a sword at her side, and it looks pretty efficient. What are you doing?

I'll shake her hand, smile and say hello.

>She also says hello, and she seems to have a very firm handshake. Are you going to test her strength?

Maybe later.

>She asks if you are familiar with the swordsmen of the castle. It seems to be a reference to your uncles in Castle Amber.

Yeah, I know them.

>And, she asks, are you any good with that thing? She glances at your sword.

I hold my own.

>And Benedict? she asks, the smile dropping a bit, how is your skill relative to Benedict?

Hmmm... I think Godfrey will just say that I'm in his league.

>Hardly, she says, I think you exaggerate your own skill. And I think I could cut your heart out. What are you doing?

I'll push back, drawing my sword and Main-Gauche.

>You barely avoid the drink she threw in the direction of your face. She whirls, pulling her blade simultaneously. She's advancing, her blade pricking at you. What are you doing?

I defend, holding my ground. But I'm not going to show my full ability yet.

>Okay, you hold back, but slowing down means you have to retreat several paces and barely escape getting wounded. Are you still faking?

No way.

>All right, you fight the best you can, and you're just holding your ground, parrying her lightning thrusts, and having your own attacks blocked. This goes on for a full minute, and you finally see an opening in her defense. Are you going to attack through the opening?

Is it real, or is she faking me out?

>You can't tell. It looks real.

I'll use the opening, but only for a feint. If she goes to parry the feint, then I'll attack.

>She doesn't parry the feint, but instead she uses it to attack. You feel the shock of her blade banging against your sword-guard. A close thing.

I'm going to be a bit more defensive for now, to see if she tires at all.

>No sign of that. What are you doing?

This time I'll launch a series of feints. Let me see if I can lead her into ignoring them.
>>
>Okay, let me know when you want to do something. She parries the first one. The second one. The third one...

Okay, now I'll convert this one into a thrust, hoping that she'll be in the habit of reacting one way.

>Not only does she avoid your thrust, she also gets past your defense. You take a long rake along the outside of your extended forearm. Doing anything different?

No, just fighting.

>A moment later, she puts up her blade. She asks if you wish to withdraw.

No way! I attack, all the way!

>She barely defends in time, and you force her to pull her foot back half a step.

Am I closer now?

>A bit. You had been fighting at the tips of your swords. You're closer now.

I'll try for a bind.

>She pushes back.

Using my greater Strength I'll force her blade out of line, opening her up for attack.

>With greater Strength than yours, perhaps because of that wound on your arm, she circles your bind around, pushing your blade out of her line of attack.

Rats! I'll pull my sword back...

>That opens you up...

I'll uses my Main-Gauche to parry!

>Good work! You succeed in blocking her thrust before it entered you armpit. You're relatively safe again.

If she extended that far, she might be vulnerable. I'll circle her blade and go for an attack on the hand.

>You manage to prick her thumb. A small line of blood appears.

I'll pull back a bit, and see how she reacts.

>Again, she offers you the opportunity to withdraw. ``Seeing as we are both wounded,'' she says.

I accept!

>She smiles wide, embraces you, and seems really pleased.

I'm not very familiar with sci-fi ttrpg's so I was wondering if any of you guys could help me.

I'm looking for an rpg that could capture the feel of the Anthem trailer (pic related). The flying suits, the booster running and that sort of shit. Preferably with some fun combat and exploration mechanics that isn't too hard to use.

Last request, this is /v/ so can we not turn this into a shit show about the game itself or bioware.

I was gonna use Mekton Zeta
>>
>>55317942
Go play a superhero game like M&M where everyone makes different varieties of Iron Man, basically. Just have it set in space and have them do sci-fi instead of space stuff.
Also, I feel like if you're trying to capture the feel of what is literally a carefully constructed biased set of imagery that in many ways might not reflect the actual gameplay or even might be an outright lie then you are WAY too easily influenced by things or are basically young enough to not have built up a tolerance for impressive but meaningless imagery yet.
>>
>>55319901
Dear Sweet gods, No.

Mekton Zeta is a fun system but it's ridiculously complicated and the rules for making Mekton-scale monsters are incomplete.

My advice: Savage Worlds. It's fast, simple, fun and it can easily handle a setting with swarms of mooks backed by big, powerful boss creatures.

Grab the Sci-Fi companion, it has excellent Power Armor construction rules, re-skin some beasties from the Fantasy Companion and you're all set.
