>What have you been cooking up anon?
Entirely new homebrew ruleset (again). Includes combat system of entirely 'called shots'. Trying to balance classes and deciding if I just want 3 archetypal classes or not.
Finishing touches on my dungeon. Trying to think of new content to produce.
Improving my art.
2d6-based homebrew in which all characters are non-magical adventurers and they gain spells and such only through magic items, so the most powerful sorcerers are the guys who hoard magic items.
Dunno if that sucks. Also, an occasional stab at a d% version. Everything is hard and I'm a bad designer.

>Thread Question:
Which do you prefer? Nations that mirror real-world historical ones with some added fantasy OR nations that merely borrow some influences from the real-world but otherwise draw no comparison?
Put simply: historical or original?
>Put simply: historical or original?
A lot of people will probabyl agree with me that we all want to see more completely original, in-depth fictional cultures. Though to really pull that off it needs a lot of work and you get the problem that your readers/players need to put a lot of effort into getting into this culture as well. I can't blame anyone if he rather spends his time mirroring real world analogues, which can also be great and are sometimes just more comfortable to create and get into.
OP: I'm totally using that map for a Retro Phaze game.
>>55306673
I prefer original. In these threads, have people looked into not only creating cultures, myths etc, but also changing the fundamental aspects of human life (that is to say, if your nation/race are humans)?
For example, what would a society look like if people turned to stone when they died? Would a graveyard/crypt be nothing more than the actual remains of the deceased instead of an image of their likeness? Is the stone of the dead sacred or cursed? Do the nobles live in perfect 'dead' stone houses of marble and other natural rocks while the poor live in cobbled-together homes made of generations of their dead ancestors? Or is it reversed, and do only the aristocracy have the right to do such a thing, or the priesthood who upon death become a piece of the temple of their gods? How are wars fought when the dead become a literal obstacle on the battlefield? Moreover, what would such people think if they were to find other peoples who did not turn to stone when dead - whose life would just seemingly vanish, leaving behind a fleshy body that would rot?
etc

And wizards don't even have to roll.
So /tg/ what do YOUR character sheets look like?

H-how the fuck.... What?
Let's create a necron Dynasty!
Here's the first table to roll on:
>Original Side in the Necrontyr Secession Wars (d10)
Rolled 4 (1d10)

I'll bite. Rollin'
>>55352976
(Unification) Forced to assist the unification forces or perish
Oh good one, I feel like it already builds character for our Dynasty
Next roll:
>C’Tan fought alongside before betraying during the War in Heaven (d10)
Rolled 3 (1d10)

Sweet, free XP
A slime? Sure, I use them. Metal slimes in particular? No, not really. Just doesn't fit with the setting.
If you're playing a light-hearted comedy RPG, sure. If my GM dropped one of these in a serious game I'd stop taking him seriously forever.
>D&D RP heavy campaign
>Futuristic D&D
>political intrigue D&D
>Starwars TT at all
I guess that depends on what you mean by "RP heavy" D&D. Usually I want a campaign where everyone is at least into their characters enough to play out a few low-stakes conversations by the campfire, but I'll admit that most campaigns explicitly advertised as "RP heavy" tend to not be very great.
>>55352091
D&D is primarily a wargame. 90% of the rules are about combat. If you use D&D to make a "RP heavy" campaign then you are no better than a retard who uses a his teeth to open beer bottles, yeah your teeth can open a bottle but it is messy, long, painful and unnecessary when there are bottle openers around.
>>55352315
You don't need rules to define how to roleplay. You just need to get in character and let the DM work. Roleplaying is a minimum component of playing any TTRPG.
How do people in Warhammer get selected to be sacrificed for Emperor?
>>55350938
It's psykers, and they start with those who have such bad habits/bad influences, are incredibly weak, or are so old that for each of these they wouldn't be worth putting through the Scholastica Psykana. I guess if they don't have enough of those they start going through the useful psykers starting with the weakest.
>>55350987
So how many psykers on Terra are there if they can kill 10,000 a day?
>>55351006
A lot
Have any of your enemies cheated death?
>>55350642
Yes, and I was inspired to start doing it by Shadows of Mordor. Random mook who was killed by the party before returns, except now he has a name and a desire for vengeance.

His name was?
Crimson slaughter a best, fuck legions.

What the fuck
Hello /tg/
I recently started learning how to play D&D and I've been looking for a torrent for Fantasy Grounds with very little luck.
Would any of you anons happen to have a download link?
Thanks a bunch.
It's on Steam.
>>55350820
Cant afford it.
Just convince your GM to buy the ultimate licence. That's what I did.I'm the GM.
/MTG Merfolk
So /tg, how relevant are merfolk now? Ixalan is bringing alone blue green merfolk and I am interested in making a bant merfolk. I have been looking quite a bit on gatherer and I am leaning on having elemental creatures in as well. As it stands I am struggling to find strong white spells to even out the mana curve a bit.
>thoughts
>suggestions
>white support spells
Be more specific about your format. Modern fish will be picking nothing up from Ixalan, because no merfolk printed in it even approach the power level of the fish we already have. If you're referring to Standard, then I'm willing to bet a U/B aggro shell is viable. However, I'm nearly certain you're referring to games played at your kitchen table, and in that case, gitgudscrub.
>>55350474
U/G aggro, excuse me. Fuck you, fish are garbage.
>>55350423

ayyy
Well, /tg/, it's happening. Despite your best efforts, your character's patron nation is going to war. What does your army march to?
And what does your warface look like?

I'm looking for a concept artist and sculptor for a range of minis I want to produce. Where's the best place to find them? Any advice from someone who's done it before? Pic not related.
>Wants to produce miniatures
>Is looking for a concept artist AND a sculptor
So what the fuck are YOU going to do?
>>55349999
Good question.
>>55349985
I'm a sculptor. What do you plan to do? How do you plan to pay these people?
Well basically I want a custom mini marketing and I thought why not try and make a few shekels while I'm at it. I don't see the problem with that.
Because I know nothing of probability mathematics, I am wondering if it's possible to substitute the five coin flips from this card to be represented as number of turns = 1d10/2 round down roll. Do the probabilities match?
>>55349870
1/2x1/2x1/2x1/2x1/2= 6.25% chance of getting 5 turns.
d10/2 round down gives you a 10% chance.
flip your damn coins.
No. The way you are describing it, every number has the same chance. In reality, 2-3 turns are moet likely, 1-4 somewhat less and 0/5 the least.
>>55349870
1d10/2 round down = { (0), (1), (1), (2), (2), (3), (3), (4), (4), (5)} with me listing repeated outcomes (e.g. chance of a 1 is 2/10, chance of 5 is 1./10).
5 coin flips is a binomial distribution.
Chance of 0 = 5C0 / 2^5 = 1/32
Chance of 1 = 5C1 / 2^5 = 5/32
Chance of 2 = 5C2 / 2^5 = 10/32
Chance of 3 = 5C3 / 2^5 = 10/32
Chance of 4 = 5C4 / 2^5 = 5/32
Chance of 5 = 5C5 / 2^5 = 1/32
Answer: Not even kind of.
